I opened an account with Bangkok bank while on a tourist visa. The bank required a certified letter from US embassy. Made appointment with embassy on line and went there for the certified letter that basically says I am who I say I am.

The bank doesn't take any risk. You have to deposit anything you wish to use and spend. You are also charged for opening and maintaining an account.

I had a bank account within my first month. Cost me 6k but that included a nice basic insurance for 3k and I got express service at the bank. Done when I was on a tourist visa, I have a one-year visa now so I will open a couple more.

Very good advice Doc, I hope people listen to you. I have had an International Drivers Permit. Here in Australia you just go to depending on what State you live in, either a government agency or a motoring association like the Royal Automobile Association of Queensland. They cost around $50 AUD and are good for 6 months.

If you rent any vehicle or motorcycle without a valid license then it is more likely the insurance is invalid! Any accident / damages and you are liable!

I opened a bank account at both Bangkok Bank and Krunsri Bank during my tourist visa and Covid extension stay in 2021. However, it was after I got married with my Thai wife (officially in Thailand) who owned a condo I used as my address so I guess it's a different situation. Great video!

It would be helpful if the Thai government would actually adhere to the very visa requirements they're entrusted to enforce. For instance, the retirement financial requirement is a bit over $23k deposited to a Thai bank or verification of about a minimum $2k monthly income or some combination of the two. Unfortunately, Thai Immigration makes it very difficult to use the monthly income option, as the required verification is exceptionally burdensome. And for me, the Thai bank $23k deposit option is a no go... I won't keep that much on deposit in the States, much less in Thailand. 🤢

I have night met many people who have experienced what you're talking about here typically the thresholds are the thresholds and the government has been adhering to them as far as I'm aware if they're not in your case or from people that you've talked to I'm sorry to hear that. As far as the 800,000 baht deposit that people have to make I know that there's all kinds of people that pretend like their ballers and stuff like this but let's be honest there's so many people struggling in the world and my videos are for people that are struggling not so much people who have hundreds of thousands of dollars sitting in a bank account..... being Canadian we trust our deposit systems in Canada so I have no problem having cash sitting in bank accounts Thanks for watching and commenting Cheers mate 🍺

i used a agent to open a bangkok bank, bank account pre covid on a tourist visa, at the time i could of opened one myself if i bought there insurance policy which i think was around 7000 baht, that was in pattaya, agent charged around 3000baht,

Because you are not allowed to have a bank account on a tourist visa however there are some companies that will manipulate things and help you open up a bank account.... That would be a fraudulent bank account... I'm telling you I know a couple of people because they have contacted me about this who's money has been frozen and seized because they have fraudulent bank accounts... if you're going to a country and you're screwing around with their banking systems that would be fraud.....

Thailand Bound had a video that said to open a bank account you have to first go to your embassy and have your passport "certified". Then you can legally open a bank account on a tourist visa. I have not tried it because my US tax form asks if I have a foreign bank account. That is another place I don't want lie. If I say yes, I think I would have a high chance of being audited

I've had one or two other people in the comments mention this passport certification I will try that and see because I've actually got my passport certified for a Chinese visa I have all the paperwork it's just a matter of going in and seeing if they were accept that.... but I can honestly say that I've been to five different banks and probably about 30 different branches and I've asked them how can I do this and they all tell me you cannot do it on a tourist visa so I'm not sure but I will definitely go in and try..... You need to go to immigration first to apply ...... You got some dok from them for aprox 300 (2 days process). Then you go to bank and they open the aac for you. Not every bank 🤷🏻‍♂️ I tried and 3rd bank agreed. Bangkok Bank.

I’ve been to Thailand three times for extended times each visit, before I leave I make a few copies of my passport ,.. where ever I go where I need my passport I leave a copy ( renting a scooter for example ) … if they won’t accept a copy I’ll easily find someone that will. What I do is I leave the country once my visa extension has expired I go someplace for a few days or a week or two enjoy myself and then I come back.... some people do what are called border runs where they just go to the border they cross over to the other country and then come directly back but that's a dicey thing to be doing because the only let you do it so many times and if you get the wrong border agent you're gonna have some issues...

regards visa application, yes it is straightforward, well,it seems to be, but certain offices make it very hard and complicated why! they would prefer you to go to a local agents office and pay usually Thais to sort it, for obvious reasons, why else if done via an office do they need fewer documents and your in and out in minutes, do it yourself you will send hours and hours waiting around only to be told your a document short,,,, by the way i’m referring to a retirement visa,,

When you're not in your country, you 're best served by following all the laws and rules of the country you are currently visiting or living in. In addition, keeping a low profile and being polite would also benefit you greatly. Try and learn as much about the costumes of the country so you do not offend anyone. Working directly with immigration and doing everything above board is the only way to go. If you don't have the income or money needed for a visa you would are better off staying in your country. Fighting and auguring with the authorities of the country is not good idea at all. You are a guest in that country. Keep that in mind.

The B800k is there for a purpose. In event of illness or accident , those funs should be there to help pay for Hospital and or medical bills. Too many 'agents' paying off 'local employees' to get visas without the B800k. It will come back at you in event of payment needed. Hospital will ask where is the money? Will they take care of you without a 'financial solution'? They don't treat Thais for free why should they treat foreigners?

There are a bunch of different reasons for the 800,000 that you need medical assistance is definitely one of them. that's why I say in the video that if you can't afford to meet the minimum requirements you probably shouldn't be retiring to Thailand I'm not sure completely willing to roll the dice or you have no other choice.... that being said it's a pretty dangerous situation if the hospital or the government finds out that that money doesn't exist in the first place and that you fraudently applied for a visa... I used Nan’s expat services in Pattaya to get my Thai drivers license and bank account. Filled out the proper paperwork and went to the bank and Thai DMV with her. I know you can get a bank account before you get a retirement visa because they require you to have $24,000 USD in a Thai account for a period of time before you can qualify for the visa.

The guy hired a visa company to get him a retirement visa.... He did not meet the minimum financial requirements so the these accompany forged all of his paperwork his tax receipts everything.... They told him that they would put the 800,000 baht deposit in for him... It was a complete fraud..... The same goes for the fraudulent bank accounts it has been my understanding that you cannot open a bank account on a tourist visa some people are saying that they have done it with proof of condo ownership but I've never met anybody that's been able to do that on a tourist visa... Again there are some companies that will help you open up a bank account even on a tourist visa but that is a fraudulent bank account... sorry I did not go into explicit detail but I didn't want to make the video 40 or 45 minutes long Cheers mate 🍺 Hope this explains it and sheds a little bit of light on the situation for you

Nobody needs a visa agent. It’s very easy. So many fraudulent visa companies here. Immigration here in Hua Hin is well aware of the fake deposit game and you won’t get away with that here. I did get a bank account at Kasikorn on a tourist visa 12 years ago at a Bangkok branch but things have changed and don’t think you will have any luck these days. I always renew my International Drivers Permit every year when I go back to visit my kids in the States. Takes 15 minutes at AAA.

Yes you can open a bank account with a tourist visa. I did it by showing proof of ownership of a condo. I assisted my friend with opening his by showing the deposit on his condo as well as his contract for purchase.

A reputable agent though is liked a lot by the immigration. Fully completed forms done first time .. yes many hookey agents about I hear ..

Ok, so I am coming soon and was going to find a dinkum agent to help me with a 10 retirement visa. Are you saying I won’t be able to find one? I’m 74 and forgetful, so doing it myself could be iffy too. Do you know of legitimate agents who could help me please?

B1,900 for the retirement visa if you follow the rules! Get the money banked, get the document support and apply! Takes less than 45 minutes each year when I do this!

Quite honestly I would say read the comment below from the other viewer because it is very simple to do yourself my friend and it's only 1900baht it really is so simple as long as you can meet the requirements and I'm sure that you do.... but if you are intimidated the first time sure higher a real immigration agency specialist and see how it's done they will definitely show you how Cheers mate 🍺

Hey James that would make the most sense however what would happen if all of a sudden their passport was found in a fraud investigation and another country I would think that the host country would have to inform the native country of the stolen passport being found in a fraud investigation.... I would think anyways

Bangkok Bank on a tourist visa yes you can but you have to speak to the right bank in the right province. What you need to get to do this used to be called a residence permit. Though this was 5 years ago so might have changed.

I have a residency permit obviously for the place that I live however even that will not get me a bank account not even with Bangkok Bank Believe meas a stated in the video I've gone into five different banks and been turned down all five times.... perhaps if I got lucky in some obscure little town like you say I might get someone who would open one for me who doesn't know any better..... I paid for accident insurance and then I got my girlfriend to vouch for me and it was that easy But out of all the banks only Bangkok bank would do it

One year retirement extension 1900 baht 60 day tourist visa 1900 baht 30 day extension on that tourist visa 1900 baht Cost of leaving the country to restart the shenanigans ???? Who uses tourist visas? Well, immigration knows that someone with that many entries isn't a tourist. You're new to the game. Wait until your passport starts to fill up with tourist visas and exempt entry stamps. Uncomfortable questions are asked at the border and red ink appears in the passport. Then the gig is up. Don't tell them about your KZbin career. I'd miss your content and fellow Canadians are thin on the ground. Don't leave anything valuable behind when you do a border run because you might not be able to re-enter Thailand and retrieve those items. The Thailand forums have far more tales of that sort than ones about visa agents, whose worst transgressions were committed long ago. Think boxes of passports entering Cambodia sans their owners 555 I'm not a troll. it's worse than that. I'm a retired government worker from your homeland who is here on a retirement extension. Get the extension and a multiple entry stamp, Mark. It would be nice if you could stick around for a while.

And you are 100% correct However keep in mind I'm not doing simple border runs I'm leaving the country going on vacations and then coming back... I have only once crossed a border in a car just to do a video on it the rest of the time I fly out of the country... You can get a drivers/motorbike licence in Thailand on a tourist visa easily in a couple of hours. And if you get any answers on the road rules computer test wrong, they will tell you the correct answers and let you do the test again. Tip: The answer to the question, "Who has right of way on a highway, an elephant or an army tank is "elephant". LOL

Kasikorn Bank branches in Pattaya give accounts to farangs on Tourist visas. But that's irrelevant. Your bank account in your home country is useable enough if you're a tourist.

Which is exactly what I said in the video only a little bit nicer.... however but a lot of people don't understand is that in the world right now there's a lot of people that are struggling financially in every single country and if they had the opportunity to come to Thailand and live even on a holbos budget they would be able to have an incredible life that they just simply cannot have back in their home countries.....
