🔰Almost the whole video was shot inside of a moving vehicle, this is a poem presumably by Mary Elizabeth Frye about coping with loss. The thing I like about it is that it uses the natural human reaction of denial in a creative way. One of the early stages of a trauma experience is "denial" and the advice most people give (including professionals) is that you have to accept reality otherwise you will lose your sanity. This approach of trauma doesn't take into account the people that were so reshaped and transformed by the loss that the term sanity has become a wider spectrum. This poem tells me that seeing faces in the rain is ok. Thank you for reading my opinion on the poem you are free to interpret in any way you want and tell me in the comments if you are comfortable. I will read all of them.

🔲Do not stand at my grave and weep by Mary Elizabeth Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

A clueless kid with a camera filmed through the car windows during a car ride and made a video about it. A year later this video has surpassed 400k views and the comment section is full of people of trying to find closure from the loss of their loved ones. I stopped responding under this particular video because it was too heartbreaking for me to read these stories of grieving. However some nights I visit this place and I respond to these wonderful people and I can say with certainty that under this video lies one of the most beautiful places on the internet. Thank you Internet Friends, I'm forever humbled and still a kid with a camera.

This poem, I used it on my father's funeral card. I saw the very first line and I could feel the tears fill my eyes so I clicked on it. Today is my brothers birthday, he passed away 6 years ago, I've been trying so hard to not cry today. My dad and brother shared the same name. What are the odds I'd see this today? Thank you for the video. You have a good eye, it was a beautiful.

I miss my mom. It has been five months since that day when my mom said it was time to let her go so she could go see her mom. This video was very moving, but your words struck me. I hurt inside to the core of my being. Sometimes I try not to think of my mom leaving and I wonder when will mom come back? Until then I look forward to the time I can go see my mom. Mom I miss you so much, I would give anything for another hug. I love you.

@ Thank you. I read your reply last night, but I just could not bring myself to respond. Yesterday, I do not know what brought me to write those words. Maybe it was something I just needed to do. I normally would not share such. Yesterday I felt like such an island, no one before me and no one after. And the way the world is falling into the abyss of evil, what is the point. And it is just a few matter of minutes before they turn this country into a socialist/communist society and burning the Constitution completely. Not only have I lost my mom, but now I realize I’ve lost the country I thought I knew. Be well my friend.

Of all mankind's so-called holy books, The Bible is the only one that states that the soul is mortal. All the rest claim that mankind has an immortal soul. All of them parrot the original lie,'You positively will not die'. They embellish it a bit, but they basically believe the same. So you have a choice...you can believe the Bible OR you can believe one of the others, the koran, the gita, whatever... Doesn't really matter which since they all teach the same thing with some variation. Ironically the majority of so-called Christians don't actually believe the Bible when it says 'that the man came to be a living soul'. Gen 2:7. Nor do they believe it when is says, "the soul that is sinning...it itself will die." Ez 18:4 They don't accept what it says in Ecc 9:5,6 that the dead are unconscious and incapable of thought. Furthermore, they don't believe Ps 146:4,5 or Ps 88:10, or Ps 115:17 etc, etc Practically all religion today is Satanic spam. I empty my spam folder in my email regularly. I suggest that we do the same with this propaganda about the soul. The only hope for the dead is a resurrection back to life on this earth during the millennial reign of Christ for which Lazarus was a precedent.

Indeed, that sentence, sums up everything the poem tried to share. I litteraly want my corpse to be thrown in a forest, or for my ashes to be scattered and walked on. That way i'll travel everywhere and anywhere, it doesn't matter what form i have, i'll always be there to love this place.

@@kensnyder3102 This poem has nothing to do with the soul. It's about how even when a person passes away, they are alive in both our memories and actions. It's about seeing your deceased loved ones in the world around you. Besides, you shouldn't be that condescending. Let people believe what they want to believe. I'm sure to you you're merely preaching what you trust is the truth, but you won't come off that way to others.

@@kensnyder3102 if I am right, that was all true in the old testament when man did not go to heaven, but ever since Jesus sacrificed his life for us our sins are forgiven and the gates to heaven are open. I'm living in a small village and almost every evening my grandma and I are going to the cemetery to water the flowers there. My grandma says that she feels sorry for the ones who are forgotten and not being cared for there, so she does it voluntarily . A couple years ago I started to help her watering the plants/flowers and everytime she would tell me a different story about different graves we visit. She almost knew all of the people burried there and their story's. It just makes me happy loving the forgotten/unloved.

He had already coded, but he heard what the staff talked about. Then he went towards the light, where he saw a huge lake, and trees. He said he tried to go towards it, but he heard a voice that said "Go back, it's not your time yet" then he said he was suddenly in a lot of pain again, and he said when he woke up enough to speak, he told them, but they didn't believe him, so he told them what he saw and heard them doing once he coded, and they knew he was telling the truth ❤️ You'll see your loved ones again, and it will be absolutely wonderful! ❤️❤️❤️💕💕.

People always seem to interpret this poem in a religious, spiritual, “I have become one with nature” sense, but I definitely don’t see it that way. I see it as carrying the memories of someone who has died with you, seeing them in beautiful, mundane, everyday things. That person is forever gone, but they still live within you. They never truly die, as long as you remember them.

I told him if he needed to, but that I didn't want him to feel sad or hurt when I leave. I want him to be happy and enjoy his life. To stay true to the values I've taught him and to stay close to his little brother. At my funeral tell jokes, pull pranks, and above all have fun. Life has had it's hardships throughout but we always made the best of it. Don't be sad for me for there will be no more pain. I will still and always watch over my boys.

This has helped me grieve more than anything else I have heard or read. My dad’s body was found in an empty field, with the cause of death listed as “uncertain.” He wasn’t around for me much for the last 6 years and that makes it even worse honestly. But this poem has really helped me get through this mess. As I grow older I realize there’s no such thing as closure or “last words” or “goodbye.” It’s just silence. But this poem makes me feel the peace he felt before he closed his eyes for the last time. If you read this, tell your mom and dad you love them. One day they will just be memories. Thank you so much for this video.

Count it as understanding that the universe hears you and will in fact give to you what you need to go on. So that you may not live in sadness and hurt. Because when we live in those things we are feeling but it can damage us as well in the walk to where we are needed to be. I can only hope this made sense to you and to anyone else who read it. ❤️

I AM NOT SAD....I KNOW HOW LUCKY I AM TO HAVE KNOWN HIM TILL HE PASSED AT 83....I AM ADOPTED AND HE LOVED ME AS IF HIS FLESH AND BLOOD. MORE SO THAN HIS REAL SON.

It’s my faith that I believe you indeed could ‘call’ your Grandma to have a conversation. Indeed we don’t die, our bodies must but our souls lives on forever. When you ‘call’, do it with all your love for her, speak to her like you would in the past when you were next to her. Yes, it’s a prayer, a conversation we have with our loved ones. This is not magic etc, it’s our faith in the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ. Have faith and be in touch with the Transcendence.

I just realized I read this at a funeral many, many years ago. I remember how impactful it sounded at the time. Years later my partner died suddenly from cancer and it took me over five years to get myself together. It was unquestionably and by far the worst experience of my life. I can’t even bring myself to go see her grave again; I fall to pieces. And then I stumbled onto this. And then I remembered those words I spoke so long ago. Perhaps this was just the reminder I needed to help me move forward. Thank you, Kalen. ♥️

This is a tiny story about me, I'm fairly sure it's one I've never told anyone. Some things online I get. You search something and for the next few days you're bombarded by ads for said search. Sometimes though, I think the internet just throws something at you to see if it sticks and tonight .... tonight it not only stuck but it broke open my chest to a small but vital memory of mine. I think I was 12... I know it was close to that age at least some 34ish years ago and I lived in a small town named Cuba in a town house. My memory tells me the outside walls were green but I honestly do not remember. It was at the top of a hill, this I remember very well because I walked home from school up this hill. Behind these townhouses was a cemetery, and by behind I mean our back yard was all of 10 feet to the fence to the graveyard. As far as I can remember, this may be where my love of graveyards comes from. I spent so much time wandering the stones and grass there. The buildings and other people's memories. That place is a basic part of me, that I can say. My favorite stone in that graveyard, and while I can't say I read them all at 12, I can say that I read a great many of them. Alone wandering around those memories. My favorite stone though, bore this poem. with a colored image of deer and trees. Colored images on grave stones are not that common, nor are such striking words. I went to that stone often and spent time with it and the memories that it contained. I memorized that poem, at the age of 12, it struck me and still does 34ish years later. I can see the foundation of much of what I believe to be true in it's words even listening to it now. Amusingly, this may actually be the first time I've heard it read out loud. It was always just that grey stone and the voice in my own head. What an odd random thing to be offered tonight, decades after anyone or anything would have known that I spent so many days fixated on that stone, making it a part of me. What an odd and beautiful thing.

@@kensnyder3102 I never went to a particular funeral. Over 20 yr I would dream of that person standing under a tree on a lawn. After around 20 yrs I eventually found out where that funeral was. She was the love of my life. I visited this cemetery, found out it was a lawn cemetery upon arrival, had the office tell me the grave location. There it was just below that tree. That tree exactly as it was in my dreams. Make of that what you will. But for 20yr that tree was the same. It never grew or changed. Ten yrs since I first visited her grave that tree is way different. Make of that what you will

We think we understand, but we know no more than an infant in the perspectives of true reality. Every journey is a solo, no matter how large the crowd around us. My grandmother passed 1 year ago today. I found this video the day after. It truly gave me some peace that I needed. She was the foundation of our family. Same came here from Cuba alone with my mother who was 5 years old. She was the strongest person I ever met and every day I strive to have her resilience and compassion. She gave everything for her family and friends. I thank you for making this video and the poem being so beautifully read. God bless.

The night after my cat died I had a dream that in the hallway in my house there were all these cute forest animals (little birds, rabbits etc). I rushed down stairs to try to close the outside door to stop all these animals running out and potentially getting hurt. As I went to the door I saw my cat as she was when she was a kitten playing outside our doorway on the porch. As soon as I saw her I was so happy I forgot about all the other animals and picked her up. This dream, although it didn't dampen the sadness I felt at her passing (it's been four years and I still think of her often and miss her dearly) gave me hope. Maybe someday I'll see her again and like the poem says she did not die. I wish you well knowing the pain of losing something and someone you love.

I found this video maybe two weeks ago and i watch it everyday because i feel like my dad was the one who made me find it. Its so helpful to believe that he is not in a cold and dark grave but out there. Maybe in some ways more alive than he was before. I wish you all the strength you need for the first anniversary of your dads death.

My son died in 2000 he was 20 years old. Through all the sympathy cards I received and there were quite a lot, and there was only one card that touched my heart. It was a sympathy card with this verse, it was so real to me, I could hear my son saying the word. Do not stand at my Grave and cry I am not there I did not die. My promise to him was I will never stand at his grave and weep your not there you do not sleep. It’s been 23 years this September, and I have kept my promise to him. You will always be with us our Angel.

"13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 🙏💗
