Be sure to run Cmd prompt as Admin. Worked like a cham. Did the update about 5 days ago, everything stable, but nice knowing I have an extended period to rollback. After 60 days Windows 11 will automatically delete the Windows Old Folder. If all is well after 60 days will delete my 21H Image backup and create a new backup Image of the 22H Install. Thanks for all your hard work and tips. Always spot on!

Regarding Window ISOs, you CAN generate an ISO for your specific build. If you search online for ""uup dump" you can find some guides on how to use it. It's basically a site that generates a script for you, which you run locally to download officially available windows components to build the ISO. I had an issue with a Win 11 PC that had a broken windows update, and wanted to "repair" my installation using an official ISO. The problem was that my Win 11 build was _newer_ than what Windows Media Creation Tool was providing, so it wouldn't let me "keep personal files" during the repair. With "uup dump" I was able to build an ISO for my specific build and successfully repair my install and keep personal files. (reposting this comment since the original one had a link and was possibly flagged)

Personally every major Windows update, I run disk cleanup and purge everything. Never had any issues on my or thousands of client machines. I've seen client initiated rollback fail too many times and then I'm called to clean up the mess or figure out why it failed. I have seen it work flawlessly though. Not moving to Windows 11 until the program menu is configurable. My way of working is technical and quick, not flowery and slow.

@@Britec09 I meant to say, I never had any issues due to a Windows update whereby I had to rollback to a prior version, that includes Windows 8. I didn't buy into Windows 8 until it was Windows 8.1 so I saved myself grief. As a safety measure, I don't recommend users (or myself) to upgrade to the next major version until one year has passed. There's no hurry and alot of potential trouble to miss. I'm not lucky, just prudent.

If you have to do that after EVERY update, then it might be useful and a bit of a time saver to create a .bat file that'll execute the command whenever it is launched, so that you only have to load it and it does the whole process for you without you having to type anything. 😉👍

This yet another thing that shows that you really should keep all your own data on a different partition from the Windows OS and image as a backup. Ideally, you would also like to be able to backup and restore the partition with Windows on it too but that is very hard to do. On every update there is always the risk that Windows will be so broken you can't even run it well enough to roll it back. You need to have alternative media you can boot from.

I just bought a brandnew pc wihtout a screen cause i dont need it, unfortunately its not ossible to set up narrator until some settings have been set. I understood that narrator would start up brandnew out of the box just like voice over on an apple device but taht doesnt seem so. I now have a monitor cable on the way and will need help of a sighted person to just cick / skip throuhg the first screens til narrator option is available and thats it .. till that time i just sit here waiting .. lol :) i wish those easy to fix things would just be sroted out sometimes thanks for reading mak

This didn't work for me tried to update my windows 11 to 22H2 now it doesn't connect to my remote desktop which is very important for me cause it's needed for my job, luckily I was able to bring it back to original version.
