My Mother also washed her grits and rice, so naturally I do the same. I have gotten many compliments from people who had never heard about washing your grits and rice. My Mother was an excellent cook. She passed June 3, 2021 @ age 93. 🙏🏽🕊️ 🕊️

Thanks for your video! I started watching after I started cooking, so no rinsing this time. I'll try it next time for sure. What made a big difference for me was adding water midway. I think it gave the grits that extra bit of hydration they needed to turn out soft and fluffy! Thanks again :)

Hey, love your video! I'm not from the united states of America but have always wanted to make grits. The closest thing in New Zealand I can buy here is Polenta. Is it possible to use polenta or by doing that, am I committing dietary sacrilege?
@CinnamonStoveKitchen Жыл бұрын
I believe you can use the same method for polenta.
@gregoryhenderson3191 Жыл бұрын
I feel sorry for u maybe u can order grits from Amazon .
@desiswag907 Жыл бұрын
It’s the same. Polenta is more coarse, yellow Italian cuisine and Grits is white Southern USA. Bob’s Red Mill package is written, polenta corn grits

why not just add more water in the beginning, like double water.

Hi you can, however if you add to much water you'll have runny grits. I always recommend to add as needed especially if you're just starting out.
