I have mixed feelings about this video. While I don't think most of the women were being dishonest I think they may not even realize what they actually go for. A couple years ago I was at a pool hall with some friends and noticed a mixed group of 2 guys and 3-4 girls a few feet away. One of the guys was definitely the "cool" guy and the other guy was kinda nerdy. Nerdy guy was very involved in the conversation and making all kinda of funny witty comments, and every time he would say something the group would just go silent and then move on like he didn't say anything. Then a couple min later the "cool" guy would repeat the exact comment the nerdy guy said and the whole group would crack up and the girls were all over the guy. And nothing else he was doing/saying was interesting at all but that didn't matter. The women were laughing and interested in basically anything he said. I overheard a couple of them off to the side talking about how funny and charming he was and all he did was repeat the same comments the other guy made and everyone ignored. Since then I've witnessed similar situations on multiple occasions. My take away from this is that while women want to be attracted to the "funny" or "sweet" guy and will say that is what they want. And I do not believe they are lying when they say any of that. But I believe they are more attracted to looks and or status or confidence or to a far lesser degree money. But when the have that attraction they will find pretty much anything the guy says "funny" or "sweet" or "charming" and basically apply those qualities to that guy so that in their mind they can be attracted to him for those reasons. I want to add here that I'm not trying to put down women here saying they are shallow or anything of that sort. Attraction basically starts with looks. You see someone, you find them attractive, and it makes you want to get to know them. What I'm saying is that if a test was done where you actually had women meet the 3 men from Hayley's examples. Man 1: the rich/successful guy, Man 2: the hot guy thats kinda dull, and Man 3: the "good" guy. I would shocked if the result didn't end up with most women choosing #2 but they would all be saying "he was so funny and charismatic and sweet" all the qualities of #3. And they aren't making it up they actually they actually think that he is because of that attraction.

It makes it seem so trivial, like it's just some way of getting into a woman's pants. I think that having sex is a boring goal. Sex is just part of a larger process of pulling a woman in, making her desire you above others by making an art form out of seduction. It makes the process intrinsically enjoyable, instead of just being a means to an end. Practicing cognitive empathy is the single biggest thing that has affected my social skills. Cognitive empathy is basically your ability to understand what someone else is thinking and feeling, based on their body language, life experience, etc. It allows you to put yourself in another person's shoes, meaning that you're going to react a lot less emotionally to their human bullshit. Furthermore, I hate this mindset of "do these things and all women will like you." Bullshit. Women are all different in their personalities, just like men. With some time and observation, you start to pick up on what each person's individual needs are. When I started practicing things this way, I noticed that a lot of the "how to" stuff became intuitive, and I also realized that a lot of the "how to" stuff is only half-true or true some of the time, or true in some nuanced way, or doesn't apply in certain situations. Social interaction is very complex and is processed by other parts of the brain than the logical areas - which is why you need to develop your social intuition with things like meditation and contemplation of other people's minds. It should be a mental workout when you're thinking about what it's like to be someone else. After I started doing all of this, I started becoming wittier, more controlled, more self-aware, less insecure, etc.

My impression is that women often have a filter - they decide in about 2 seconds if this guy is worth their time or not. Its simply not credible to say they know his "personality" (whatever is meant by that) at that stage. Another rather depressing statistic is how few women marry poorer men. And how many are attracted to a very small number of charismatic, powerful or high-status men. I'd have predicted that women would often say personality a lot, and I wouldn't want to accuse them of all lying. It obviously means *something* to them, as does security, excitement and fun.. As for women not wanting "douchebags", that's another undefined word and I'm not sure women really do avoid such men like the plague...

They might vary, but i experienced there is 3 factors that must be met more or less adequate, Social status, financial STABILITY, and sexappeal. Personality is great, but if she finds you repulsive, or sees you like a looser, personality is irrellevant. Ask any guy who has gone trought a radical body transformation, how "openminded" women suddently become, i litterally had girls running up to me and putting their hands up under my tshirt to grope my abbs, not to mention the random assgrabbing at festivals ect, plus the random women that just start to talk to me out of nowhere. It is funny how all this never ever happened when i was fat and unemployed, and stopped when i went back to school and the "dad bod". Personality! Riiiight.

Being short (5'6.5" and unsuccessful (unlucky, lots of bad breaks), my self confidence has demolished and my faith in women has disappeared through the years thanks to their wanting a successful man. I am only 30 years old, but my experience as a shorter guy in Canada has been pretty terrible. Is there really any hope? I'm not bad looking, just short and delayed in my career (have my bachelors degree as well). This video showed how women can be more susceptible to a nicer and more family oriented personality, but getting that initial date can be real hell. Some guys will not connect to this at all. For most women in my area, if you cannot provide for a family, you will not be accepted as a husband. So in some cases, money CAN buy happiness...........hence our self esteem problems....

Frankly, the only guys I've ever had crushes on were rather average in the looks department-- not unttractive, just not strikingly hot. In fact, I didn't find most of them attractive until after I had experienced their personality. I think the people at the beginning had it right. Women will notice the physically handsome men first, and initially go for that. But it's hard to have any real feelings for someone with a personality you don't connect with.

Confidense personality game keep women interested. Looks get your foot in the door. So if you don't eat healthy and don't exercise don't dress nicer or all three, women could care less about your personality. Confidence comes from self improvement. Can't put the cart before the horse. Dating coaches won't tell men this because this isn't what men want to hear. Men want to be told from dating coaches just dress nicer and be confident to get women. Then when they can't get women the coach can just say you weren't confident enough. Answers are biased towards what is socially acceptable to say. Furthermore, women will just pick the hot or rich guy and then rationalize it by saying the rich or hot guy has the best personality. Likewise they'll laugh at bad jokes from the hot guy and say they're with him because he's funny.

In response to other comments: It ultimately MUST come down to "personality" in order for any relationship to last. Also, a lot of the time, success comes from hard work, dedication, charisma....these are personality traits. Women are more physically attracted to charming, charismatic, positive, confident men. These are personality traits. I think it all comes down to that. In my experience, it /does/ all come down to that.

For the majority of women i would say it's: 1. Looks 2. Personality 3. Status/money, but you could swap between 2 and 3 tbh. However, if you know how to push the right buttons on a woman, looks can sometimes come 2nd place to personality and wealth because they function more on emotion than men do. Women are just naturally hardwired to be with the guy who can offer the stability, which includes the safety net of financial support. At the end of the day women's maternal instincts will dictate whom she potentially spends her future with.

So far from experience women *say* they want someone kind, gentle, a romantic, yet they always go for the hot guy that tends to treat them like trash, just because they can get pretty much any woman they want. I am sure there women out there with some common sense, but so far, the women i have met have always gone for looks and/or money/reputation, saying personality is not that important if they have the body and the money. Maybe i have the bad lack with women, because it feels like being a nice guy, a decent guy is not enough, you got to look good, be rich AND be a nice guy to get a single date. Seem like sweet girls, and you can't argue with someone's opinion...on the other hand, they're all super young, and don't really have the hard years of having to deal with bills piling up, seeing their friends' big houses and luxurious vacations, and so on. Presumably, they all will have nice high-paying jobs that can take care of their significant others, or have huge inheritances. When you're in your 20s and are dating a guy who's a broke artist, it's still cool and acceptable. Not so cool when you're 40-50 and thinking about retirement, medical bills, taking care of your parents, etc. Good people will even turn their nose up at you if they sense that you're not traditionally economically successful...doesn't matter how shimmering the humor, hair, muscles, etc.

You rely on what you see. Girls can kind of see when a guy is wealthy by their appearance (expensive clothing, car or lifestyle), they can also see the attractiveness of a guy which is not always a deciding factor considering the fact that women can feel uncertain about themselves. But when a guy is popular and is almost always having attention in a sincere way (not because he is the crazy dude or clown) but because he is respected, the women will jump on that guy. Never experienced when you're almost taken by a girl suddenly all girls try to sort of intervene and try to grab your attention? Those situations when you think girls seriously now that I'm almost taken you want to spend more time with me? Whenever a guy knows how to make girls feel that he is someone you really want as a partner, when he knows how to become desired through giving the feeling that he is in fact desired by many women. He will eventually get the girl he wants.

The problem I see with this question is that it is never a binary choice. Women can certainly find personality as the most important and I do believe most do, but that doesn't mean they don't require more than just that one feature in a man. The order of importance also changes depending on context and the purpose of the choice. Good looking guys can also have great personalities and so can high status men. In fact, I would argue that to become the latter often requires some personality, at least initially. In very few situations are women ever confronted with choosing between guys with only one of these features and when they do, they would often choose to leave and live to choose another day.

Depends on the girl. When I first meet someone, I go off looks then personality then status. If he's a 10 out of 10 in looks but has zero personality, he's out. Perfect guy is about a 5-7 looks wise, silly(bc I'm a dork), and ambitious. He doesn't have to be making 100,000+/year as long as he's hardworking and knows what he wants.
