I’m Italian and Greek, and I’m a very fair olive. Foundation was a nightmare until recent years. The new About Face foundation in the fair olive shade is super close, just a tad deep for me in winter/spring. But still wonderful to see brands coming out with shades for us! It’s like Kermit says, “it’s not easy being green” lol 💚
@kristinbagrier17810 ай бұрын
It's definitely not easy being green 😅. I was just trying to use a shade finding tool for foundation a couple of days ago and it asked if I was warm, cool or neutral. Where's the 👽 option!?! Most brands that realize olive is a skin tone think it only exists in medium to deep complexions.

@@LeadmareLibertad- I think not many people know much about olive undertones. I only recently discovered that lighter complexion skin tones can be olive! 😮 Like mentioned in this video- I thought it was only applicable to those with a Middle East or Asian descent. I know of a handful of high end brands that offer olive shades. However, when it comes to the drugstore… you have to just go with the closest yellow undertone foundation. 😔😵💫

Ty Marlena for shouting out olive undertones’ lack of representation! There’s esp a gap to bridge w us light olives (brands treat us as if we don’t exist), so that blue corrector x warm foundation hack’s so good. Your paper test is so legit and I was able to understand my undertone in comparison to others’ and foundation swatches (all shades in my complexion range were either too gray, too pink, or too peach/orange). To my fellow green people: look for that gray/green (or khaki as Marlena said) and know not each olive is the same-some are very yellow olive (like me), some pull more gray. If you find people ask if your unwell/jaundiced bare faced, you’re more than likely in the olive gang!

Any skin color can have an olive undertone: porcelain, fair, light, medium, dark, deep. Next there is muted/desaturated and bright/saturated. The options are: * bright warm-olive undertone * bright neutral-leaning warm-olive undertone * muted warm-olive undertone * muted neutral-leaning warm-olive undertone * neutral bright-olive undertone * neutral muted-olive undertone * muted neutral-leaning cool-olive undertone * muted cool-olive undertone * bright neutral-leaning cool-olive undertone * bright cool-olive undertone

It surprisingly I wear those muddy cloudy greyish based colour with not too much of warm nor leaning too cool (pretty much in neutral but a little leaning to cool or warm I could possible wear those colours clothing) just make my overall skin looks brighter LOL E.g. dusky pink (not neon pink), mustard yellow (not bright yellow), muted neutral coral (not vibrant coral), rusty orange (not true orange), dark navy blue (not warm blue, and I can wear most blue except pastel shades, I could even wear muddy dirty blue which most non-muted people can't wear especially bright skin colour people which as if they are wearing dirty clothing that they have forgot to wash before wearing LMAO), cool darker purple like plum or burgundy (not warm vibrant purple), warm vibrant red (most red I could wear, just not neon vibrant type, maroon definitely look great on me), cooler green (definitely not warm green, definitely not vibrant green colour, most dark green like forest green, or teal; turquoise only when I'm super pale, not leaning too warm olive too I could possible wear). All the best to your colour hunt ;)

For years, before knowing I have an olive complexion, I would add a tiny bit of blue pigment to warm foundations. I had no idea I was actually making a slightly green tint. I just thought I was “making my foundation a little neutral but not too neutral”. Sometimes id accidentally add too much blue then I’d add more yellow pigment. I face palm whenever I think about it. After I learned about olive fair to light complexions and how to color correct. Did it finally click that I’ve been doing that for years without realizing it 😅

If you’re a cool olive, you have yellow and blue in your undertone, but more blue than yellow, so, in my opinion, the colors that would look better on you would be those that contain yellow and blue but more blue than yellow: cool browns, cool greens, cool burgundies. Also, colors containing red and blue (cool purple) can look good on cool olives. You also need to check if you’re muted or bright to see if you need a muted or bright variety of those shades. I hope this helps! 😀

I have vitiligo...turned completely white, including my eyelashes and eyebrows, my veins are blue/green...very warm, tan easily.. Now? I'm cool tone, had to lighten my hair from black to medium brown...it took so long to figure stuff out for me

I'm neutral but prefer using olive about face beside being a great foundation has quite a few olive shades including light ones.

I hope you can answer this question. My skin is like your skin. Can you tell me what number and the nars foundation you use.
