At one point the officer tells Hyde "Nobody is above the law." I think that is what infuriated Hyde the most: the denial, by a woman no less, of his firmly held belief that he is fully entitled to ignore speed limits and to text while driving. The officer was extremely cordial and professional, I hope she got a promotion.

I noticed his intimidating behavior was escalated when alone with the female officer. He bullied her. When the male officers arrived his use of intimidation de-escalated. He talked to them like they were all members of a boy's club and should show that female she was lesser. The male officers seemed to play into that, maybe in an effort appease or to de-escalate. He even walked to the side of the road which he refused to do when asked by the female officer. He also did not threaten the jobs of the male officers. This man clearly resents women with power and probably women in general. He feels he has the right to bully women to get his way and men should keep women in their place. Wonder if he is divorced? The female officer held her own and did her job with dignity. The driver has no dignity.

It's still a large part of the patriarchy. So many seem to think it's ok to raise a boy that way and then wonder why the world if fd up. Even woman allow this to continue. My mother did , all my female teacher did. And I've seen woman get so mad when ya say boys need to be raised to not abuse woman and how we all need to take a look at how we treat our boy over our girls. I've been chuffed at just for saying that by woman. Sad really, sad.

Martin sees himself as a man of the people and as such he has always stood up to bullies. I think in this case, Martin Hyde initially perceived this particular cop as a "bully" and so he automatically went into fight mode. After the fact, Martin realized he misjudged the cop and so he apologized. What's the big deal?
@haydencooper_
@haydencooper_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@ruthgoldblum919 are you serious? Any rational person would realise 1 minute into the interaction that she was a very fair, no attitude cop doing her job. He didn't seem to understand that one bit and absolutely launched a disgusting crusade against her, threatening that she'd lose her job and have to answer to higher powers. Really bullying and undermining behaviour that he couldn't seem to see was wrong at the time. That is what the big deal is. What's more is he was using his phone and speeding, he didn't even deny that. He showed a really horrible, mean spirited and almost cruel way of handling a situation that should've been a non event and all over within 5 minutes. He had time to calm down and see she wasn't a threat to him yet he even lied to the other cops and continued the illusion that he was some victim and that she will pay for how she treated him. It's defamatory. Luckily the video showed the world that he was just a scheming liar playing victim.

As a 20 year retired officer, I can truthfully say I was never "trained to dominate" anyone, any time. That being said, I quickly learned on the street that being a weak, hesitant, uncertain officer is a good way to get yourself hurt or killed, along with those working with you. A bit of unambiguous assertiveness, stern but fair, goes a long way to ensure that you go home at the end of the watch, and not to the hospital or morgue.

I find it funny narcissists often ask "don't you know who I am?" The answer is almost certainly going to be "no" which will just further hurt their ego. This is why I think body cams are a good idea: it shows when cops are doing the wrong thing but it also catches out people who provoke cops and lie about the cops behaviour.

I commend this officer for having the guts to do her job correctly... The EASY and "safe" thing to do would've been to drop it and walk away. But her commitment to her oath AND to the public was her priority, even in the face of intimidation and outright lies. In my opinion, your thoughts are absolutely 100% spot on. I don't think any analysis could have pegged this guy any more perfectly than you did. I had such a feeling of unresolved anger and injustice after viewing the body cam footage. This same thing happened in an airport, at the ticket counter. The airline worker got on the intercom and announced to the crowd that they had someone here who didn't know who he was. Can anyone help us out?

Excellent analysis, very thorough, it answered so many questions about this type of behaviour. Ty!! ... And for some fun: A student kept writing his exam after the professor said the time is up. When the student handed in the exam the prof said he won't be marking it. The student asked "Do you know who I am?" The prof replied "no." So the student placed his paper between all the others in the pile and said "good"

Your observation regarding his behaviour being "exhausting" is spot on. I really was totally exhausted just watching his performance. It was headache material, and one wonders why someone would put themselves through that, let alone the poor Officer.

I am curious to know if the officer suffered any backlash for this incident. Was he able to mess with her job like he threatened? Is it exhausting for people like him? Or does it feed and therefore fuel him? To a normal person it would be exhausting but to someone with narcissistic tendencies it’s food. They find it invigorating to fight with others.

that's what I've always wondered too. Like, I can't imagine all the energy it takes to be so mad ALL the fucking time. Like, always right on the front battle line with your weapon drawn. I get mentally exhausted just watching people like this in actions for a few minutes.

Do you know who I am ...yes, you're a bully Martin Hyde!.. he was like a little child that was told not to stand in the road because it was dangerous but he thought he was "special" and who would dare hit him! I've known a lot of folks like that in my 70 years... He was basically saying "you're gonna be sorry when your boss gets here because he'll be on my side"...unfortunately some bosses don't have enough backbone to stand up to bullies even though they know their employee is correct. It's kind of like your mother saying "wait til your father gets home - you're gonna be sorry!" And calling her an immigrant!!! When did England become part of the US??? I know all the continents were one a long time ago but didn't know they have migrated back together LOL
