David Byrne has said that the suit came about because “I like symmetry; geometric shapes. I wanted my head to appear smaller and the easiest way to do that was to make my body bigger". He's also said the polyester made him sweat profusely onstage and that when he later put the suit in the washer-dryer, it shrunk to the point that it became unwearable.

For that fun, funky Bass line, you can thank Ms. Tina Weymouth. Although she is playing it on a synth, instead of her regular ax. You guys should react to the whole "Stop Making Sense" concert film. I guarantee that if you were in the audience for this and the Stop Making Sense tour, you wouldn't be sitting in your chair. Lex, there's nothing to figure out about this band. They were hands down the best new wave group of all time. David Byrne is a genius who just looks at the world differently and is a great lyricist vocalist and a supreme showman . Then add in Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, two highly talented musicians in their own right who later went solo with The Tom Tom Club and had a massive hit with Genius of Love in 1981, which I know you heard. Don't analyze, just enjoy their creativity and energy!

Lex, oh my, I think you totally nailed it at the end regarding the way he was dancing and maybe wearing his father's suit he was basically exaggerating and pantomiming and just taking pop-culture mames in away to an extreme. But for context, it's even better than what you're thinking. It's even better than that, laugh. Which is a line in the song about his girlfriend, sorry But anyway, if you watch the whole concert, before this has put on this Giant weigh oversized suit for him with the shoulder pads and he's dancing exactly the same way and it is so surreal and weird and funny and unnerving which is what they were all about. All about. That plus really fascinating addictive grooving music.

She liked "Burning Down the House" from their first new wave stream last year (Jan/Feb 2022) and "Psycho Killer". Also liked the tom Tom Clubs , Talking Heads side band. Songs like "Genius of Love". This song on a Halloween party playlist? Hhmm, maybe. Its fun and kinda dark. lol But this is on the more upbeat spectrum of new wave/post-punk. I could see where Oingo Boingo (new wave) "Weird Science" gets thrown in there. . Darker, moodier new wave/post-punk would be darkwave, gothic stuff like Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsee and the Banshees, The Cure, Clan of Xymox, Joy Division, Killing Joke, Lene Lovich, etc. New wave is dance music, yall correct.

One thing I super-appreciate is when a songwriter puts things into words in a manner I have never heard before. With Talking Heads an example that's stuck with me since it came out was in Home, "You've got a face with a view." What? Oh! I love looking at your face! Tom MacDonald recently came out with Ghost and the line, "I wanna be with you, 'cause I'm me with you," is just as memorable. I'm me with you ... aww! Pretty much all of Talking Head's lyrics are that way, not clear when you first hear it, then, suddenly, you "get" it.

I just happen to find out about this song recently , but the song that I’ve always known from Talking Heads is burning down the House. Both of fire 🔥 songs and they get you in the 80s groove lol

Damn I didn't think I would miss Lex this much, not throwing shade at Brad's channel, but the buying of polls and 95 percent of the artist and songs I never heard of, it's just a hard watch for me, but those who dig it... more power to you. This channel always made me feel I was part of the show, more interactive with the chat and their suggestions.
