I have an old truck, but it looks as good as it can at all times, doesn’t leak and doesn’t smoke! I may not have the newest stuff yet, but I treat it like it is and I believe that shows to my customers. I am inquisitive with my customers and do my best to add value to the homeowner and the contractors that choose me to represent their name on a job. Thank You for sharing this with me today. Being professional doesn't mean you have to have a brand new truck, it means you should respect your truck, its cleanliness, its mechanical condition, its tires, interior, how you drive it, etc... and it sounds like you do it like a true professional. John-- here's my nickels worth of input, there's so much of this that has been, and will be, around forever imo. There's always new (clueless, sorry if a reader thinks they're one themselves) guys that think they're making money but have no idea at all. We (here) aren't competing with them, and for the most part their customers are only concerned with the bottom line. If it's two cents cheaper they're going to deal with that dumpster order taker. Let them. As far as order taker or consultative sales... Customer A, our 12 month a year customer, all we need is an order taker. Those customers know what they want. Customer B, the non professional? That's the person you need to deep dive with so you don't end up with 40 yards of concrete in a can. The best companies can deal with both, and know how to. Ah, if you're spending 100k, 200k,300k on a truck and your guys (or you) aren't in uniform, and there's trash blowing out of the cab? 🤣Come on, man! Good video, but I do like the dog barking, vacuum sucking, table view

When you’re out of dumpsters, and “size up” for the customer, do you ask them, and make sure that will work, or do you just show up? Something I’ve struggled on in the past.
@samedaydumpster Жыл бұрын
Great question Cody. But if I'm doing my job correctly when I speak to the customer, I already know this answer. I've asked all the right questions. I know if they have space for a larger size, I know if their project will allow for sizing up. And then I tell the customer I'm bringing them a larger dumpster so they know and are prepared for it.

Great Video as always. Your studio looks good. I would just add a couch, coffee table and color in the background or something that adds color like a picture. In the future you will have many guests and that will help accommodate them. The depth of knowledge that you share should be commensurate with your comfort level. On another note I am in my 40’s. I juggle with the thought of going all in with funds to rapidly build/grow the roll-off business or operate organically and stuff part of the money in a 401k. What investment strategy do you follow to build the business yet balance monetarily for retirement when you are up in age. Thanks in advance for your insight.

Thanks for the feedback on the studio. It will change I'm sure as we try different things to see what works best. As far as investing and capital and my thoughts.... The BIG view is new but it kind of distracts from your message. SOME wide shots are cool to show how you are stepping up. I am here for content and to provide feedback for the community. As far as being an order taker, I have learned through my mastermind group that conducting that exact consultative conversation with a new prospect for my equipment rental business has turned a "no I don't have that equipment to rent" to "how are you using machines to multiply your efforts on the project?". Owning the problem with the prospect during the very short amount of time that I have on the phone leads to a sale and let's the prospect know that I care and I want to be involved.
