Yo yo yo what’s is up brother!!!! Just wanted to jump in and say I 1000% agree with you on the regulation topic. While I get the argument that the government already regulates us enough, or over-regulates, this industry is truly the wild Wild West. Little story, about 6 months ago the city owned landfill started requiring drivers licenses to dump at their landfill. Believe me when I say, the traffic at that landfill cut in half for quite some time!!! That’s just a small change on the local level that has a huge impact. So many guys rolling with personal insurance. I get it that some people have to do what they have to do while it’s a side hustle, but if it’s a legitimate business, we should all be on the same level playing field. Just my .02 cents. Appreciate the topic and conversation brother!

I’m in Aviation, and I can think of an industry that’s regulated more. Airlines make millions and customers would have it no other way. Not a fan of regulations for the sake of regulation or regulations that give the bigger guys an upper hand. But it does need to be consistent and safe. Love the content.

Hit the nail on the head with people being Audited, Sonoma strong hauling for instance, They insure themselves as a " cleaning service" so they don't have to pay stupid insurance. I pay over 12k a year in commercial auto for 1 truck, a dump trailer and a roll off set up with workers comp ect. I don't like when folks brag about cheating the system to get cheaper insurance. I pay and I charge my worth. I also loose alot of business because they don't want to pay my rates. But I don't want to work with cheap people.

I can't say first hand what any certain business is doing or isn't doing to "cheat the system" sort of speak. But I can tell you this from owning my own businesses for over 35+ years.... When someone is willing to cheat, or cut corners or not do what is legally required to operate a legitimate and profitable business, there's usually more smoke and fire brewing elsewhere within that same business. I see this happen pretty regularly with guys trying to save money anywhere they can. The fact is... it's expensive to run a business the correct way both financially and ethically all the way around. I've never once in my life seen a business that trys to "beat the system" ever get bought out or make it wire to wire for that fact. Once your reputation in any industry is tarnished.... well it's game over for working with the legitimate type of clients. Keep doing you brother, the entire state of California is better off with guys like you out there.

I like the format changes .. This format is casual and informative with really thought-provoking nuggets. Y'all make it feel like I'm in the room. Casey, we were inspired by you and John to help lift the community. Do you have content on what equipment you use to produce these videos, cameras lighting and such. Just catching up on this episode and so agree about the regulations. I think the drivers license thing that American AF references could be a start. But I don’t think it’s going to cover everything. I got a question for all you’s. How come you’s are still using hooklift instead of Skip trucks? The bins are cheaper, lighter, they can be stacked, They don’t need wheels….

Skip trucks def have their place and application for sure, but the way I run my show, skip trucks are not the best piece of equipment for how my market is and how I run my business. Thanks for checking in today.

Great video as always! Agree totally on getting rules and regulations in force but how do you police them. The $250. SF insurance doesn’t get it for sure. The illegal dumping, inferior non-road worthy equipment, no business license and the list goes on and on. I guess for now they are one ticket, one breakdown, one catastrophe from being out of business. Keep up the great work and superb information. Also, Love the Hat!

There was a Karen with a home gym in nice 3/4 ton truck. The drive thru awning was 9!foot clearly this home gym was taller than the awning. I blew my horn she started cussing. I told her the load was going to hit. She continued cussing me. Pulled out and ripped the awning off the side of the building. I just left she was saying it wasn’t her fault.

Whats the sweet spot for truck to dumpster ratio.

This might be the hardest question I get asked as there are a ton of variables. How many days do you rent for? Do your customers return dumpsters early? Do they keep them longer than expected? How big is your service area? How many drops and empties can you actually set each day? How far away is your landfill or Transfer Station? These are just a few of the factors that determine how many dumpsters you need to be in the "sweet spot ratio." I have (2) trucks but only run 1. The other truck is strictly my backup truck and 'Im a one man show so I'm never running both trucks at the same time. I think if your business is focused on quicker turns for each dumpster, 1 day, 3 day or 4 day type rentals I think 1:24 ( 1 truck: 24 dumpsters ) is the most likely "sweet spot" you are looking for. Great question BTW.

Upgrading and new trucks is a difficult choice for any business especially for CDL that have never been CDL. Around here CDL is a need The bigger the better Contractors only want the big cans
