I’m also able to focus more on what I need to focus on and actually start living life instead of scrolling thru social media for hours and comparing my life to another person’s. Plus we paid off almost $34K in June and before end of this year, we’ll be officially debt free! thanks to Dave and the Ramsey personalities for their teachings!

comparison was never so toxic until social media started blowing up. Now we have people posting their "luxurious" lifestyles, how they do this or that but viewers don't know that behind every social media post, there's a broke person type them "inspirational" captions. Just do you, work hard, invest smart, save ferociously, stay healthy, be happy and again, be you. So what if people you know flex a new Benz or Rollie in front of you ? I love this -- The past 30 years have been a downward slide into, "everyone's a winner, everyone is beautiful, nobody loses, and everyone is a super star." No. You do not get to be a Michael Jordan just because you pick up a basketball and shoot hoops with your buds on Saturday. You do not get to be Valedictorian because you have a stack of books on on your desk at home. Make the effort. Practice. Get off the couch (out from behind your gaming system) and know in your heart that you actually do DESERVE to be paid for your time, not 'cause Mom & Dad wanted you to have high self-esteem. Earn it.

@@adrianocosta6760 I'm way past the point being young lol. Thanks though. I've calmed down a lot compared to my younger more competitive self. My friends from school still have that mindset that luxury is better; having things is better and a career making more money is better. Right now, am debt free, love minimalism, saving 65% of my income, and want to be financially free in 10 years where I only need to work part time. Eh I get what Dave is saying to a certain extent, but handling somebody with kid gloves and raising children that can't handle constructive criticism or losing is one thing. That has definitely led to the snowflake mentality. However, there is a way to go about raising resilient children without physically and verbally abusing them. I'm sure that most of us are still walking around with scars from people who hit, yelled, and insulted us to motivate us. There are ways to encourage children (and people) without being overly harsh and mean about it. Do I think that political correctness has gone too far in some areas? Sure. However, it shouldn't be perceived as political correctness to ask people to be decent to one another or to stop allowing children to be abused like they were without question in the past.

Speaking of keeping score and everyone is a winner, this happened even when I was a kid 15-20 years ago where every kid got a trophy that said something along the lines of "award for highest score" and it would display your highest score for the season. It means nothing other than giving everyone a trophy for participating. I tried my best when I played, but in the end, my team never really won much to earn a trophy. I feel like tossing it, but I keep hold of it because my parents spent a lot of money on it and it is a reminder of what I did when I was a kid (even if it wasn't earned). With all of that stated, I would have preferred to have just received nothing because it feels like my trophies are empty of any meaning (essentially they didn't have any meaning).

@AaAa-ri4uf4 жыл бұрын
shaden1628 always dollar cost average is the answer, and that is putting monthly constantly in retirement on a monthly bases. However when the market falls like it did a few months back you should invest a bit more or in a separate account (if you have the money)
@reniehandler25954 жыл бұрын
Good question. Dave's advice is dollar cost averaging. Same amount every week. Dollar cost averaging over the long term is the way to go, buys more shares when the price is low and less shares when the price is high, something the average investor can't do. However, others agree that investing a lump sum (if you inherited a lump sum vs. accumulating a lump sum) will actually be purchasing shares at a lower price overall, compared to that share price 10+ years from now.
