I'm really hoping you see this comment. I see you are working on an SPF with the highest % of Zn Oxide but I was wondering if you would do videos on Iron Oxide. A study this year by Dr. Pearl Grimes showed how (in vitro) visible light can trigger hyperpigmentation in skin of color and iron oxide can help block it. Your YT friend Dr. Alexis Stephens in her SPF video for SOC discussed that, citing the FeO study. I would love to hear your opinions on visible light, your take on the study, Iron oxide and visible light/hyperpigmentation in SOC. TY for the work you do!

Good morning Dr. V. My problem is not aging or wrinkling, it is hypo pigmentation. I had these light spots on my cheeks since puberty. I am now in my late 30s. I used Hydroquinone in an attempt to bleach, but as soon as I saw the damage it was doing to my skin, I stopped. Yes I tried to bleach my skin by age 13-14 due to bullying. I thought I was having vitiligo at first, I got so scared and went to see a Dr., he kicked me out of his office accusing me of wasting his time for such a minor health concern. This was in West Africa BTW. Since then, I never brought up my hypo pigmented cheeks as a health concern to a medical practioner but I always cover it up with makeup when ever possible. They are spreading and my skin around that area are thinner. Thank you for all you do for us Dr. V and sorry for the long note.

She probably wouldn't reccomend it because she says retinol should only be used at a very low percentage ( 0.1% to at the most 1%) on skin of color to avoid burning,inflammation or irritation or skin barrier damage. On products the first five ingredients are the highest percentages and retinol is number 5 which means the percentage is too high and harsh for skin of color.

Hi Dr. V can you do a video on microneedling as a lot of people say it helps with shrinking pores and acne scars. Also on IPL laser which can be used at home as well.
@PeachesSkinCare4 жыл бұрын
Iman, I hope you don’t mind I respond? I’m a holistic master esthetician of over thirty years. I teach beautiful healthy skin naturally in my three holistic skin care salons. Your comment caught my eye and I wanted to share what I have personally seen. Micro needling can cause sever damage to the skin so do your homework and only have it done in a professional setting if at all. Many holistic practitioners actually feel it does the exact opposite of what it claims ( building collagen and helping with melasma and acne scars) I do think a small roller is not bad for at home use. But be mindful before and after it’s use. The same goes with IPL or and lasers( all lasers do is burn and damage the skin and while your healing your skin thickens you protect itself “ callous” like your heals or elbows ) and you think the issue is gone when is actuality the issues are still there under calloused skin. The at home light therapies seem to be less harmful, but can irritate our dark skin and cause more darkening and damage. I hope you didn’t mind some extra skin love and I’m sure Dr V will answer as well. Medical and holistic work beautifully together I have always felt. 🙌🏻🍑Lisa Here is an article on micro needling disaster. www.realself.com/review/nsw-microneedling-disaster

I currently use the Even Tone cleansing bar, which work fine but irritates my skin if left on longer than 3-5 minutes. The resurfacing at home pads, which work fine and gives me smoother skin. Hello! I have been learning so much from you this past month and am very grateful for what you share!! You mention No fragrance in skincare at all. Is there any oils or substances which happen to have a nice scent? Maybe like Sweet Almond Oil (i dont know what it smells like though)? I used to make my own body creams with shea butter and moved to Cetraban and have experienced quick healing from sun burnt skin! Also- What is good for us to use for sun damaged POC skin? And Thank you for creating this channel for POC!!!!!!!

That would be a great brand to review. The moistfull collagen cream seems to be a big hit and my friend swear by it.
