Here is what I would add since posting: Camaro is the smoothest and best shifting manual. Dodge is second and the Mustang with the MT82 is last. Mustang is the best value/cheapest with the Camaro not far behind. However, when you consider everything the Camaro comes with it really is a great deal. Most technology - I would give this to a Camaro 2ss with a Mustang closely in 2nd. Best sound system - Camaro with those Bose. I had the B&O in my Mustang and wasn’t overly impressed. Hartman Kardon is okay. Lastly, guys I love cars. I don’t care the make or model. This is me being fair and giving my honest assessment. I don’t have bias towards any brand. This is meant to help those looking at cars to provide a perspective from someone who has owned all 3.

Great video Austin! I recently sold my 16 Challenger SRT 392 and bought a manual SS 1LE. I agree with your assessment of these cars. I got really tired of constantly smoking the tires everytime I got on the Challenger. It gets old after a while. The Challenger felt like a 72 Caddy with a big motor, which is great if all you do is go straight and never turn. The Camaro, in my opinion, is a far superior driver's car. It feels like a true sports car and not just a fat pig with a big motor. Keep up the great content and Happy New Year!

I agree with you on ALMOST everything. It's almost as it you took the words out of my mouth. I haven't experienced the quality problems on my GT that you did with your Mustang, and I hope I never do. I think you just got a bad batch because other people I know haven't had issues. The MT82 Transmission sucks, but I modded mine to offset its weaknesses to a degree. As far as these three car types, I love all three and have driven all three (GT, Scat, SS) myself. I didn't feel cramped like some people complain about with the Camaro, but the lack of visibility was an issue until you get used to it. The Challenger was too big and awkward in areas where parking spaces were narrow, but it's old school looks and bearing are hard to beat. Overall, the Mustang fits me just right. Your assessment of the Mustang GT being "crazy fast" on the top end is accurate. People bashing Mustangs don't realize that as a drag race progresses past 70 mph, the Mustang will overtake the Scat Pack and the SS. I know from personal experience on numerous occasions. The Challenger rules in the Low-end torque department. It has no equal. But at the high end, it's the Mustang's world. The Camaro has more Low end torque than the Mustang, but can't match the Challenger, and IMO is a better track car than a Mustang, but the Mustang is still better at the high end on a straight away. Of course, a lot depends on the drivers in question, as these are just in general observations and results. Your Quarter Mile Assessment is spot on, EXCEPT the Mustang CAN POSSIBLY catch the other two depending on the drivers. The Mustang is coming to life at right about that point. After the Quarter Mile, the Mustang EASILY dispatches the Scat Pack and will pull ahead of the Camaro as well. The Camaro will also beat the Scat Pack at that time. The added weight is also working against the Scat Pack. In every race that I saw and/or was in, that's pretty much how it went down. You can't go wrong with any of these rides and your assessment was the best I've seen in ages. Thanks for doing it.

I came off of 3 years of Mustang ownership into a Challenger. The Mustang was cramped, the quality felt cheap and it was a bellybutton car. There’s 4 GT’s just in my neighborhood. It is quick and nimble but has no bottom end so it’s fun to begin with but once the honeymoon phase is over it just feels sluggish and cheap. The Challenger is on another level, instead of a cheap and quick sports car you have a luxury muscle car. Plus all of the torque and power down low it makes it soooo much more fun on the street.
@JoshuaWorth2 жыл бұрын
I love the Challenger but luxury? The interior parts are trash.
@thespeedyviking96822 жыл бұрын
Some things are obviously trim level dependant but going from a Mustang GT premium to a Challenger SRT 392 was a night and day difference. I'd definitely class it closer to a luxury interior.

@ceooflovingthehomies92942 жыл бұрын
Solid comparison! I’ve driven all three and I mostly agree with your assessment. However I looked at automatics in all these cars which does change a few things. With most of these cars switching to an automatic just makes you a little faster, but the Mustang is transformed by the automatic. It still doesn’t have the insane low torque of a scat but it def pulls harder sooner (real world 0-60 is close or even favors the mustang vs a scat) Makes it quite fun to hoon around town. It’s all subjective but I liked the coyote and 6.4 best engine wise (tho the LT was great), I liked the mustang interior best (I haven’t had the quality issues you had), the Camaro handling was best, and the challenger looked the best to me followed closely by the mustang. I went mustang because to me it’s only short comings were that it was slightly less sexy to me then the challenger and when carving a canyon it’s not quite as good as the Camaro. But it looks great to me and carves canyons well and has one of my favorite engines so it was had the best package of traits. You can’t go wrong with any of them though and I love them all.

Hi Austin, excellent comparison video of all three cars. I am really torn between the Camaro and the Challenger. So much so I can't decide. What I am looking at is a 2021 Challenger SP WB Shaker package fully loaded, or a 2022 2ss 1le. Basically, given both options here you are saying you would more than likely go with this spec'd out Challenger, correct? Another factor to look at is the MSRP. I get both the affiliate discount for dodge and the GM employee discount for the Camaro. Obviously, the GM discount is much greater. Pretty much covers the taxes and fees. That being said MSRP on the dodge is 67k and on the Camaro basically 56k. Huge difference in cost. Alot I can do with the Camaro with an extra 10k you know. I am a bit of a bigger guy 285 at 5'11. I drove both and love them both. In another video you made I agree with you on; I do like all of the little things the Camaro offers like the spectrum lighting, exhaust pops, camera mirror and lighted door sills. I can go ZL1 for the same price as the challenger. Dude, I just don't know.
@Gonin602 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason! Thanks for commenting. Man I’m torn for you. It’s always hard to pick one that’s better. I think you would need to determine if you can live with the lack of space in the Camaro. The only reason to buy a challenger is it's looks. It's a classic muscle car. If you're worried about space and want two doors then I guess... @largenloud97442 жыл бұрын
Challenger hands down! That’s my experience the only down side is the car is bigger so parking in small spots is difficult. That and the B pillar blind spots. The car has a bunch of room inside and the torque in the 392 is enough to have fun without going to jail. That’s my opinion.
@thespeedyviking96822 жыл бұрын
I'd say Challenger hands down as well. The torque down low makes it much more fun for around town stuff and playing around on the street. A Challenger will beat a Mustang in the 1/8th mile but lose in the 1/4 because the Mustang needs RPM to make power making it feel a little slow on the street. Otherwise the Challenger has more interior room and trunk space but the Mustang will get better fuel mileage and be a bit more nimble. I've never owned a Camaro but from test driving one I can say visibility is pretty bad and the interior is pretty cramped similarly to the Mustang.

Probably the Camaro. A lot depends on tires etc. the mustang didn’t easily break loose the tires so traction was good there.

I really wish the Mopars were lighter... Seems like I'm still gonna be waiting for my dream car, tbh. I want something that I can just as easily dance with as I can get serious with and as I can relax and road trip with. Needs to be a 3-seater (the passenger behind the driver can be a useless spot, but there should be enough head and leg room for the two right-side passengers to be full-size men and get along), RWD but controllable. LIGHTWEIGHT IS KEY because heavy cars suck and wear out faster and take more power to motivate, and TBH, I DON'T want a V8, even if they can be made relatively light, low, and compact. Why? Because I don't like underutilization. I want a solid 400-600 whp WITH turbo noises, but I don't want to be barely boosting a huge V8 engine for no reason, nor do I want to be quite maxing out or pushing a 4-cylinder hard enough to get to those numbers... This is part of the reason why I want a lighter car; I'd be happier with 400-450whp in a 3200lb car (full fuel+200 pound driver) than I would in a 3800lb car, and if that were all the case, a 4-cylinder just might be enough... Even if it wouldn't really make the sounds I want.

Mustang and Camero handle very similar. They aren’t really muscle cars, they are pony cars. They are a mix of straight line and performance, Cornering, and handling. Although I think mustang is gonna have better tech and more cargo space if that’s important to you but as far as straight up performance they are basically the same. The Challenger on the other hand is straight up muscle car. It shines in a straight line, but doesn’t handle cornering as well compared to mustang and Camero. But it is pretty outdated as far as the tech goes and interior, So if you want a more well rounded sports car that’s gonna handle real well get a mustang/Camero cause they are gonna handle about the same. If all you care about is going very fast in a straight line get a challenger. Nothing wrong with either cars, just a matter of preference. Luckily the market has calmed down and most dealers are not doing markups on the hellcats anymore cause they have too many of them now smh 😂 so if I were to get either of these probably a challenger since they won’t be making them anymore. Camero is gonna go away next year too. Mustang will be the last one. There’s rumors that the new gen that came out for 2024 will be the last. So we shall see. Awesome review btw.

A Muscle Car is a type of Sports Car. So are Roadsters (Miata, Fiat 124) and Sport Sedans (Charger). Sports Car is a very broad classification with a few sub-categories in it. Some would argue that the Challenger is more of a Pony Car like the Mustang and Camaro. I'm not sure I agree with that.
