Hey everybody this is a review / install on some Monroe 58650 Monroe Load Adjust Shock Absorber, on a 2008 dodge Dakota Slt 2wd. These shocks are supposed to handle an additional 1000lbs in the back of your vehicle like a helper springer or Airbag well see how they hold out.
Personal opinion the constructs is well built with some little off road action was fun definitely worth the money. Hope this video helps anybody thinking about getting these shocks. One thing that I did not do was measure if the rear of my truck was lifted because of the shocks that I installed. If anybody has put these shocks on there vehicle if they can comment if it raised there vehicle.****************************************************
Monroe 58650 Monroe Load Adjust Shock Absorber at time of purchase were $92 and some change from amazon amzn.to/2R14dW1

If your using your vehicle primarily for towing, these shocks plus the airbag leafspring assist system helps keep a lot of stress off the differential especially if your differential is stock and more on the weak side. I use this setup on my mazda b4000 with the 8.8 differential out of a explorer that has 31 splines vs 24 I believe. I'm about to re -enforce the frame so that should be fun.

I have a question that had nothing to do with what you said but you seem to be knowledgeable. I did a 2" reverse level on my 2003 suburban 2wd so basically I dropped the rear 2" by using drop springs and replaced the shock and struts with KYB Excel g. I also used shock extenders . Now the ride is not the greatest when hauling my whole family and luggage in the back . Will these shocks help me by giving me more rear end support or should I go work belltech???

looking for some for my 95 dakota but for the front, tried stock and skyjacker but they still seem too wimpy for having a v8, but looks like 95 f-150 ones will fit! similar stroke and dimensions, great vid, looks like these shocks put in some work

Dude, the driver's side "wingnut thing" broke when I was trying to break it loose. That thing was a bear to get a wrench on since there's virtually no clearance on that side and the nut was spinning in place. Had to cut the head off the bolt and hammer-punch it out. Auto parts store didn't have a new "wingnut thing" so I just put a regular flange nut on the new shock. Not sure why they didn't make the mounting bracket more open like the passenger side. Got it tightened down using a "crow's foot" wrench. I really like how the Monroe load adjusting shocks look & feel. Thanks for the video - more Dakota videos on your channel please! :-)

Great video and your honest opinion on them,I'm not sure if I like the looks of instability when you should the off road view, as to a solid piston shock as better then stock replacement one's...

Did you notice a difference between when the shock was upside down vs when you flipped it back? I have these on my 96 ram they’ve been on there about 5 years and I just barely noticed recently they’re upside down and I’m getting issues on dirt roads with the trucks being very unstable and I didn’t know if the shocks being upside down would be causing it.

About the music in your video, May you share the artist names and song titles? Also, the dealership says the wing nut is discontinued so they gave me a regular nut like the one used at the lower part of the shock which I find difficult to install at the top part, do you know where I can find a wing nut now-a-days? I’m looking to get different tires on my 2011 Dakota, May you share which tires and rim size you got on the truck?

Tinker Garage ok well I’m in the market for shocks, my pick up is lifted 3 1/2 inches in front and stuck height in the rear with 35 inch tires I’m just looking for good manners on and off road shocks and I liked the idea of it helping the ride height as well I just didn’t want it to stiff of road cuz right now I got old shocks front and back and I’m bouncing all over off road.

Does anybody use these shocks to level truck empty port to starboard (left to right)? All I ever. See is the install with no regard to leveling. Id like to see it leveled.
