Thanks for being straight to the point, and showing where the inlet for the outside air was. All the videos I seen showed different ways to remove or fix the door, but nobody showed how to block the air from the outside from coming in after the door removal.

This happened to my 2005. I had the windshield replaced and immediately afterwards there was a little or no blowing air. The fan seemed to be working (louder with each turning up of the dial), but no blast of air. It was not easy getting that door through the hole, though - took me a half hour to rotate it enough to pull it through. Thanks for this great video👍🏻😀

I took the fan motor off (3 screws) giving my hand easy access to remount the broken recirc door. Removed glove box for visibility. semi-permanently wedged the door in place to block all outside air. Unplugged recirc door motor. took about 15 minutes and that included cleaning the fan blades on fan motor...On permanent recirculate now. No road kill smells or smelling the diesel truck in front of you and the ac is blowing 38 degree air when it's 90 outside...:)

you can also drop the blower motor under the dash (below glove box) and get it out that way too. Three (3) T-25 Torx screws to drop it (unplug the two pin plug to the motor first, then the four pin to the speed resister (right to the left of it) to gain easier access to drop the blower)) Then a little finagling to get it out, with out having to cut. Thanks Random Rob for the idea about blocking off the intake, that is gold! Because I suspect it's a pain in the keister to replace that flapper (as in pull dash)

You're spot on by saying this is far easier than other videos. I don't need it perfect as long as it works. A decent mega corporation like Dodge should have performed a recall when they realized their engineering error. There is another common eff-up Dodge made for a few years, including 2004 and that's easily cracked and shattered dashboards. Dodge used an inferior type of plastic for a few years until they realized the problem. Again, Dodge should do a recall and fix the problem if they want repeat customers.

I just taped over my air intake vents to deal with the current heat wave, so thanks so much for showing us the location. The easiest way to remove that door is to drop the blower fan (directly below the glove box) and reach up inside to pull the door out. Had to bend it slightly to get it out, though. Three screws, ten minutes, didn't have to remove the glove box or anything except the blower.

I just changed my blower motor. Didn’t fix it. I didn’t notice the flap resting above the fan so I’ll have to recheck it. How has it been with the windows fogging up? Edit: I just dropped the fan and works 100% better. Crazy how it was blocking all of the air.

Hi Thanks for the video !! I took my glove box out and the blend door seems to be missing that lets fresh air in so I taped the hole up outside like you did , I flushed my heater coil and changed the thermostat but I'm still not getting heat ??? could it be the door is actually setting inside the heater housing and blocking it from getting heat into my truck ?? My hand is to big to fit inside the opening you said you took your blend door out. I'm getting air blowing thru the vents but its maybe a little warm but if its really cold it feels like cold air blowing out the vents.... Any ideal what my problem might be ??

It brakes off and falls straight down blocking the blower fan. He mentioned that in the video. You can cut and pull it out like he did, or remove the blower motor on the bottom and reach up inside and pull the broken door out that way. I just did it last night. Good luck.

I just removed the door that was laying atop my blower fan and that definitely increased my air flow. Does blocking off the fresh air add more air flow or just keep the outside air out? I have had my truck for nearly two years and never tried the ac the heat was HOT HOT tho. So I put two can of r134-a in it and it blows ice cold but not what I expected for air movement. I can barely feel it hitting my face. Or is it normal for this model dodge? I have an 03 f250 and it will nearly give you windburn lol.

The only reason the outside was blocked, was because the owner didn't like smelling exhaust from car infront of them. I would have left it open. Although it doesn't seem to cause to windows to fog up. Closing outside will help keep you warmer on super cold days, and cooler on hot days.

This doesn't fix the problem, it just butchers the plastic box. The repair is really simple. Remove the fan blower motor located underneath the dash and reach in and remove the broken recirculating door. The new door can be reinstalled the same way. It's only $15 on ebay.

Yep happened in my 2007 dodge ram open all the system punched the door take of from the a/c basically the " return " are closed so can't get the air circulating in the truck don't waste your money to replace the busted door because the new one are going to break again i send my truck to the dealer and they said nothing is wrong i just did what i mencion truck still have cool a/c

I might be wrong here but THAT door is right where the heater core is for heating. When door is broken and facing down its in the open position for hot air to blow in. No door means no hot air. This fix is a great idea for summer but not if you live in an area where heat is needed. IMO.

No this one is the recirc door, allows either outside air in, or partial outside air or none.. The owner wanted all time recirculation, so I tape off the outside.

Will this type of repair impact the heat though? I have a 1998 Dodge B3500 Roadtrek van and my air is barely cool and NEVER cold but the pipe that brings the air in is freezing cold and I recently had a recharge. However, the HEAT works GREAT. Super hot.

sounds like a blind door isn't closing all the way to cut off the heat. That will be more surgery as that is deeper inside the dash.

If the air is blowing out normal but no heat, this won't fix that. Could be a bad thermostat, or one of the electric motors that move the door for heat is dead.

Is there any good air coming out any place? Another issue with Rams is they use electric motors to open and close doors to shift air from floor/dash/windshield and those die too. No easy fix for that, dash has to come out.

FollowtheMoney If your a/c is not blowing any cold air at a dead stop, but you start to get a flow of cool air when you get up to speed, it’s probably your a/c condenser fan.

I know this is a year later, but maybe it can help someone else or you if you haven’t fixed the issue yet. With the rams, if it is low on Freon the passenger side air will be ambient temp and not blow cold even if the driver side is. Check the Freon level and it should do the trick.

A working door would be closed when using heat and defrost so it will work normal if blocked.

I pulled the dash and air unit to repair the evaporator. It isn't that bad. Took it out, replaced the evaporator, put the dash back in, evacuated the ac system and gassed it back up in 4 to 5 hours. And I work slow and take breaks.

Honestly, it pulls air in everywhere under thay cowl cover, if you take off both sides and shine a light, you'll see it and it also pulls air tbroigh the passenger door jam into that cowl hole as well. To this day, I have no idea why there is aluminum/rubber sheet over that 1 particular hole when it is open to the entire cowl every where else.

Mine is a 2004, got it used from a friend and it seems low pressure to me but not crazy low, so I'm not sure if I have issue or not. I guess, I really just got to get in there and look. I wish I could find a way to add an easily changed air cabin filter as well.
