Those bushings are made very close to where i live in Alberta. I went to their shop to pick them up and the owner offered to install them for me... nice guys! He said to get them both started before pressing/tapping them in as that insures the second one will be easily started without the first one locking it in. Their ball joints are very good as well but maybe a bit overkill and expensive as they will probably last longer than the truck... LOL

Using a tie rod puller is money for installing the bushing easily and I used a hose clap around it with red loctite .

My steering wheel noise is more of a plastic scrapping coming from inside the vehicle. Could it be the bearing in the firewall assembly just past these bushings?

Is this can be done on a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 ? Because I look on the bottom by the pedal and the steering shaft as like a metal mesh wire thing rap around it You know if that need to be taken out to get to the part

Seems like it would put a lot of stress on the bolt head and snap it clean off. I wonder if bolting a longer grade 8 all the way through would work.
@shaunlynn3003
@shaunlynn3003 3 жыл бұрын
The pin fits tight when new, you're just taking up the slop with the bushing that was caused from wear by the steel pin. There's no more stress than any other time.

This fix doesn't work. Once the rubber dries out, it loses its structural integrity. So even though you insert a bushing, and fix that issue, you will still have wander because of the twist.

Betraying my ignorance with a probably stupid question, I presume you wouldn't want to hold those in with duct tape?
@HighMileageHelper
@HighMileageHelper 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking the question! Loctite threadlocker can only do so much with those moving parts. There is no direct pressure forcing them out, but they just need to not fall out. A strong tape just keeping it in place has done the trick for the last week with no movement.
