How did you get the pitman arm centered

Are you talking about the bearing block center with the pitman arm or are you talking about the pitman arm itself being center parallel with the truck?

When you pulled the nut off and screwed the pitman arm block I guess it's called in the hole in the bracket so the bearing would be centered. Video was cut showing how it was centered just ordered one and it's the main complaint it's not centered

Keep all bolts loose on steering bracket and slide bearing block on and tighten it down then tighten the bracket and swaybar to frame last. Bearing block will be center when you put it on as long as you keep all other bolts loose while installing the bearing block.

I just caught something you said tighten the steer box if you have to ... I noticed today on my truck after I hooked everything in except for the brace that feels like I have play all the sudden in my steering .. and I had no play at all after putting on the redhead pump .. when you say adjust are you talking about by turning those two that a right below there that attach to the idler arm

Im talking about adjusting the bearing block which is the part that has the 2 bolts and grease fitting on it. You want to get it centered with the pitman arm shaft for smooth steering. If you don't get it centered it will cause drag in your steering. Make sure all of your bolts are tight on everything you took apart or replaced.

@@bluntman99999lol. reviews are biased. Lots of ppl claiming blue tops are the best. Well considering they went out of business, guess they aren’t so good after all. Borgeson is shit too. Find a few ppl who bought them. I can’t find anyone who says they are any better than anything else. But I can find a ton of complaints about them being trash and a waste of money. I’ve never had any issues with a redhead yet. The only reason there might SEEM TO be more complaints is because they rebuild 100x’s more than anyone else does.

I had one side that fell when I was putting the other...almost killed me. Bounced off my eye and nose, I tried to throw my head back as I seen it and hit the back a my head on the widow maker handyman jack knocking myself out.and knocked the bottom jack sideways and it fell sideways dropping the truck on me. It was on a trailer so it rolled forward over me off the trailer then off the loading dock across the parking lot and t-boned my bosses new Ford dual as he was sitting there in it on the phone

Did you have sloppy steering before installing the steering box brace. I have a 2011 ram 2500 my steering is about 1/2 inch of play will this fix that

I didn't! Only put it on because I added a lift and didn't want to get the famous death wobble. Steering box brace helps but you need to make sure you don't have any other steering parts failing on you.

Check the rubber bushing at the u-joint underneath the dash. If that rubber bushing has deteriorated, all that’s holding your steering wheel to the steering shaft is a cross pin, and it will have up to a good eighth of a turn slop in the steering wheel. There’s another KZbinr on here that has a video that shows the slop in that rubber joint and how to fix it. Even dealer mechanics have thrown thousands of dollars worth of parts in the front suspension only to find out it’s that rubber bushing underneath the dash that causes 90% of the steering wheel slop on the Dodge trucks.

EMF makes aluminum bushings to correct that for a while but a lot of people are getting power steering feedback noise after installing them.

Been farming for 40+ years, and I have NEVER, NOT locked a bearing onto the shaft! Without locking the bearing to the shaft, the bearing carries no side to side support load whatsoever and it will end up wearing on the shaft if not properly aligned! So what’s the whole point of having a bearing support it if it’s not even locked on to the shaft! They would’ve been just as well off to tell you to leave the locking collar off and to not put any grease in the bearing. They could’ve made a cheaper, smaller casting and put a bronze bushing in for the bearing surface. If they’re not even going to bother to lock the shaft to the bearing, why even bother putting in a greasable bearing? This is why mechanics hate engineers!

Lol.. what ?? Nobody said anything about not locking the bearing. The reason they said no need to punch it, is because it not rotating a certain direction continuously which is the purpose of punching the hole once ur locked in the direction of rotation. But with 40 years of farming, I’m sure you knew that a steering shaft rotates back and forth and not continuously in one direction. 🤦‍♂️
