Thanks for making this! I had a hellbent steering box stabilizer that was doing the same thing. Ripped that junk out sooooo much better. I just happen to come across your videos, wasn't actually looking to fix anything.

Ran one of these piles of shit with my redhead box, and was wondering why my steering was always so shitty….exact same thing happened to me. The pitman arm nut came loose because of the nut being bent. Unbolted that bearing from the brace, truck drives like new again. So glad I ran across this video lol was about ready to set my truck on fire

Awesome video. Quick question those, the drag link joint on the pitman arm, is that suppose to be under the arm like it is or on top? Only ask cause my '12 has it on top of the arm. Thanks for any help

My stock 2013 Ram 3500 had the Drag Link joint installed on the top of the Pitman Arm. However, when I installed a 4" Lift, it called for me to spin the threaded body of the Drag Link 180 degrees, and install the Drag Link joint into the bottom of the new and longer Pitman Arm.

Looking at the video I should have pointed out that the nut being non concentric was what forced the steering box loose and more than likely was the cause of the sector shaft nut coming loose.

The fact that the collar bearing bolts came loose probably is what saved that red head sector shaft from getting trashed due to how out of round that nut was, one of few scenarios where it was a good thing when some bolts came loose!

Im a little slow Lol So what was the fix?

SO in this case the brace caused obvious issues do you suggest that we don't run a brace at all? or only in certain situations ?
@EMFEVO4 жыл бұрын
Braces have their place. Trucks ripping through the desert or trucks pounding around lease roads. However those trucks probably won't have great mannerisms. Also if you don't care that the steering is a bit tight but if you're fussy and can't handle correcting and want it it to drive like a car then I wouldn't run a brace personally. In my experience customers with braces complain more about there trucks steering like crap and constantly having to replace boxes.

I can see the sector shaft split lock washer changing gap @ 2:05
@toyota4x4legend4 жыл бұрын
Due to the loose nut. The split lock washer is keeping it from coming loose but allowing it to be just loose enough to be a bad situation.
@EMFEVO4 жыл бұрын
The lock washer wasn't doing anything at that point. The nut had backed off and was resting on the bearing.

I have taken my 2012 ram 3500 to multiple shops and no one can figure out why my truck wanders and will not return to center after turning. Any suggestions? New redhead,tie rod and ends, new drag link, new fox 2.0 stabilizer, new ball joints.

Have you had any luck fixing this? I'm having the same issue with my 3500
@EMFEVO3 жыл бұрын
I didn't see this sorry. When you say doesn't return to center do you mean it just drives in circles? or it only comes back to the 11 o clock or 1 o clock position but not all the way to center? Also did have you done anything to the intermediate shaft? Other things to look at after a ball joint install is the tires need to be rotated or new. Alignment is a big thing. You may not be towed in enough. Being aligned to a spec doesn't mean anything it only gets you close. The alignment tech has to have some skill level to fine tune it.

Four years ago, I acquired my mom’s 2001 Tahoe after she passed away. It did the same thing. It wouldn’t return to center on its own after turning. I kept telling the shop manager. They checked all of the suspension components. All were within specs. It was when it got towed in and dropped off due to a dropped driveshaft that they discovered what it was. They knew the steering was “off” when they pushed it into the shop and noticed that it was hard to steer. Anyways,…if my memory serves me correctly,…I think the stabilizer bar was on backwards. They switched it around, and it now drives like it should. I don’t know how long my mom drove it like that. It would cause premature tire wear from scrubbing real bad,…and that was going forward or reverse while turning. If you need, I can find out exactly what part it was that they turned around the right way.
