a couple of specific scenes catch this perfectly: 1, during the recording of Kasuga's vid, Chitose and Tomi are like "wow, Kiryu's surprisingly into this sorta thing" and it's like "no, you dont know. he EMOBDIES this stupid shit" and 2, when Kiryu is singing and the group is talking about other things, he gets all pouty that no one is paying attention, then sets em up by already having another song set in for when they paid attention again. he LOVES this shit and they are all surprised (and one basically floods the place) seriously, seeing in game characters reacting to the dragon of dojima's silly antics is one of the absolute best things about this game.

The Sujimon and the Island aspects of the game are so good, I avoid sidestories because they're not nearly as good. You should still do them, many of them give unique gear, skills, poundmates, etc, but man... Sujimon/Island easily add about 30 hours of game time combined. And then there's the roguelike dungeons, which is GREAT for grinding other jobs, so just toss on another 15-20 hours there. This game is massive, excellent execution in nearly every regard, 10/10. I've never played a game that made me feel so much joy and just smile.

I feel like the way Pat describes it here is both really funny and true, but at the same time overselling it a bit.
