The before & after pictures of people on Amazon and KZbin tell a completely different story about how caster oil grows eyelashes. It does indeed grow your eyelashes, it does not just make them "appear" to be healthier. On the other hand, Latisse can cause darkening of the eyelid skin which may be permanent, change the iris pigmentation of the colored part of the eye which is likely to be permanent, cause eye redness or discomfort, eye itching, dry eyes, watery eyes, and/or eyelid redness and puffy eyelids. Conclusion; Caster Oil causes eyelashes to grow with no side affects. And Latisse can cause permanent damage.

Personnally, I used castor oil for a month on my eyelashes and I find it irritative. I stop using it after a month because, there was no improvement at all with my eyelashes. Maybe it need much more time to grow, but, considering the irritation, I decide it was not worthing it.

I have been using castor oil religiously since August 2020. I had watched several KZbin videos claiming I would have earth shattering results in 30 days. I did not see much of anything but kept on with my nightly castor oil routine because it was relaxing and the skin around my eyes was looking radiant. Now, after 2 1/2 years I am utterly thrilled with the results. It takes a lot of time and consistency to achieve longer thicker lashes. I’m so happy I didn’t just give up. I had watched a video by Jennifer Myers and she had mentioned that her long lashes were achieved over 7 1/2 years. Her video was the catalyst for me to keep on keeping on. The video also showed how she applied the castor oil. Blessings to everyone and sorry for rambling on……🙏

It works wonders for my eyelashes and eyebrows. I highly recommend purchasing empty mascara tubes from a beauty supply shop. That way you have a easy and convenient application with the brush so that there isn’t too much of the oil going on to the lash. What I do is after I cleanse, pull out the wand, run through one brow and then upper lash then lower lash. Then go on to the next eye. This way the eyebrow will remove a bit more of the oil from the brush before it goes onto the lash so that you apply just enough and is less likely to get into the eye

Nice! You should try curling, then brush a piece of fresh cut aloe against your lashes. It holds your lashes in place and also grows them. It’s like a clear mascara! I learned this by chance bc I use fresh aloe as a toner in my daily skincare and I got some on my lashes, haha. You can follow up with castor oil if you’d like, but I only do that at night bc I don’t like the oily look.

@@1994FireBug Actually first of all, there is!! There are ACTUAL articles that discuss how and why castor oil works for hair growth, I encourage you to do your research. Secondly, there doesn't need to be a scientific reason for it to be true. The fact that you believe there needs to be one makes you delusion. There's no scientific reason for why we experience Deja Vu yet yet everyday people experience it. My experience/ actual results is all I need for it to be real, so thank your input.

@@Rachelx0 CLEVLAND CLINIC What causes déjà vu to happen? You may not be a magician, but when you experience déjà vu, your brain is creating an illusion. This is thought to happen when there’s a bit of a miscommunication between two parts of your brain. “Déjà vu is caused by dysfunctional connections between the parts of your brain that play a role in memory recollection and familiarity,” Science is the best source we have for knowledge for a reason. Personal testimony is unreliable because the brain is untrustworthy.... Maybe the castor oil is creating an illusion of what looks like hair growth but isnt.

Dr. Berg explains this that the reason for the majority of those losing hair and eyelashes are due to not getting enough trace minerals. Our foods are lacking. He also mentions that there is a lack of zinc in ones diet. I encourage those who are interested to look him up. It will make sense with the way he explains it. Replacement of those lost trace minerals can even reverse those struggling with hair loss.

I really appreciate your systematic and scientific approach to beauty products. Thank you! I do have a question though: when you say a product hasn't been proven through scientific studies, are you saying there have been studies that affirmatively showed the product was not effective, or rather that no studies at all have yet been done? Where studies might not have been done on castor oil, for example, we do have the centuries of traditional usage that might indicate it works to some extent.

From my recollection the studies surrounding oils for eyelash health don't prove they're effective, but there's anecdotal evidence. I've had good experiences with castor oil on my eyelashes, but, again, because it's anecdotal, it's individually based. Everyone reacts differently to different things.

I love almond oil for my eyes and lashes...I use it everyday to remove mascara and eye shadow. I just rub the almond oil onto my lashes and lids...then wait about 30 seconds and wipe off. It melts away mascara and other eye makeup while conditioning the lashes and skin around my eyes. I have been doing this for about 10 years and have no problems with it. I think it even helps keep my lashes healthy. I am 61 years old and still have good lashes.

I think it's important to point out that there is (or may be) a vast difference between "there are no studies showing efficacy" and "there have been no studies looking at the efficacy of____". Just because *no* studies have been done doesn't necessarily mean something doesn't work. And who is going to pay for studies (which can be super pricey) if there is no money to be made off a product? No one.

Interesting to know! I also read that dry eye might be a symptom of other internal issues like insulin resistance and so on..I personally had a very positive outcome from using castor oil daily during pandemic. I'd lost almost all of my lashes after using lash extensions. Now they're back, longer and fuller than before. I also noticed that it helps me with dry eye condition which most people complain as I live in a dry climate. I guess instead of worrying about lack of research in this matter, I will stick with millions of people that swear by it!

I’ve actually seen a treatment where they make these little dams out of clay around your eyes and then fill it with warm castor oil and have you open and blink several times and it’s supposed to help dry eye a lot. It absolutely works. Before I started using it, I had noticed my lashes falling out when I washed my face in the shower (about 2-5 a day for several days in a row). My lashes stopped falling out after I started using the oil. It’s only been about a week. The tiny bald spot on my lower lash line has already filled in, and I just had to pluck a new, weird little eyelash that was growing above my upper lashes on my eyelid! I did get a small stye (that went away within a day using a warm compress) because I wasn’t careful about washing my lashes after using the oil. I apply a very small amount of oil with a Qtip dabbed into my lash line.

I now know the value of having a good pair of large sunglasses for driving and being out and about - even in the winter when the snow creates a glare. Are polarized glasses worth it? It definitely grew my hair. I chopped my hair 4 times in 3 years. Last year, I started consistently using, organic Jamaican black castor oil. My hair went from very short, tapered, to shoulder length. It works to grow hair. Coconut oil dries the hair out, well mine anyway.

Coconut oil is a humectant. So if you live in a dry area or using it at a dry time of year in your area then the moisture will be pulled out of your hair. It works both ways but goes the opposite of where the moisture is. So if the moisture is in the air, it will into the hair, if it's not, it will pull out.

I tried it for a few weeks, and though I loved how it made my lashes look, it unfortunately blocked my oil glands and I got severe dry eye that I had to get treatment for and took a few weeks to normalize. Vaseline isn’t a moisturiser, it’s a barrier cream that stops moisture getting in it coming out. It’s a refined waste product from oil and it’s not great for the environment, either. It just leaves a greasy residue on things and people think that it’s moisturising them, when all it’s doing is just sitting on top of your hair/skin and not being absorbed at all, like it would if it were a moisturiser.

I have tried castor oil on my lashes and it caused a sort of stinging sensation. I’m guessing the oil got into my eye. I don’t have castor oil allergies. Don’t get a reaction on the skin. Just when I put it near my eyes it makes it water. I find it odd sense I have no problem with mascara. I’m guessing it’s because it’s viscous like you mentioned so higher chance of transferring onto eyes. Edit: I was just told I got a chalazion or internal sty from the castor oil. Don’t know if this common but now I know I should be careful.
