I can so relate to what you've said. I'm not at your net worth but 71, retired, a 60's American muscle car guy with a pretty comfortable income. I've gone through so many cars, it's nuts. Last three years, I've owned a black ScatPak (manual, of course), then a 2023 BRZ (manual, of course) thinking i should downsize, then ordered (took an act of Congress and a letter to Barra) to spec and order an LT1 (with a manual) during COVID but found it cramped. Have had Corvettes but now, only an automatic and personally, I think they're ugly. After selling the Camaro three months ago, I still wanted an American "muscle" car with a manual and more important, a pushrod motor. Left very few cars. I went back to looking at Challengers. Lots of dealers still had a lot of inventory but not that many manuals around. This time, I decided to stick with a 5.7L. I found the only manual in Texas to be at a small dealership in Navasota. There was one in Little Rock but the guy wouldn't deal much. I drove up to Navasota (from Houston), looked at the car (Plum Crazy of which I was extremely hesitant about buying such a color on a car), offered him $38K drive out on a car that stickered at $48.5K. He took it. This car just fills all my requirements. Got a great deal, I just LOVE the sound of the car, has plenty of low end torque (thank you pushrod motor) that just fits my daily driving and yet it's large and comfortable. I look forward to getting into it every time. And the color....I've got more comments about this color than every other car I've owned together. It's just crazy which is why they call it Plum Crazy. And my second vehicle is a red '22 Ram 1500 Classic short bed that I specially ordered with the 6 cylinder (didn't want the dreaded MDE) but ordered it with the 3.55 rear end, limited slip, SXT package and electronics package. I cycle a lot and needed a great little pickup to throw the bike in back of it. And it rides so quiet and with 20's, nice and high. I now have my 2 perfect vehicles. They both have cured me of my insatiable appetite for a new vehicle. Whew...long one.

Idk if he was ever a big fan. He talked about how in his specific circumstance, the Kia Stinger GT worked out. Which was that after sitting and not selling for 2 years on a dealer lot, Doug was able to get a crazy discount on a new stringer which he planned to use for the time being until his defender was completed.

No. The perfect three car garage is one where the vehicles complement each other and the owners needs. You need to enter your garage and know which car to choose based on what you are about to do with it, not have to make a difficult choice between three cars that are all very similar and do similar things. Rear wheel drive, mid engined supercars. Now, in a fifteen car garage, they might all feature. Since you have a V8, a V10 and a V12; there is some distinction there. But not if those are the only three cars you can have. In that instance you want a broader spectrum of abilities. We also know Doug has five cars and not three. Just my opinion.

All the great drivers cars are going away. Manual gearbox, N/A, rear drive etc. They are replaced with 4 wheel drive electric/plug in small 6 cylinder turbos. Most of the cool stuff has already been made. Hence the increased values of the Drivers Car. You did well Doug. Maybe an older Ferrari 550/360 would be an excellent addition. The Lambo was a poster car for me growing up👍

It's really a non issue that I have never seen mentioned. No big deal either way. Starting position doesn't determine where you finish in America. What it really shows is that Doug is running out of ideas for videos. I mean he has done one recently on getting a flat, and another on his worst experiences, which included a 5 mph crash. That's a charmed life, and nothing to feel bad about.

The Carrera GT, the Ford GT, and the McLaren F1 would be the “perfect” garage, but the McLaren F1 is almost impossible to get unless you’re Elon Musk or the Saudi crown prince. A 90’s NSX instead of the Lambo would’ve been my preference.
