I also fitted the Wings & CRT fuel dongle to my Husky 701 after its first service & I agree with your comments. Both Wings & CRT were very helpful. I also dropped a tooth on the front sprocket, a cheap mod. Managed to break the key in the fuel filler cap, apparently a common occurrence with Husky keys being made out of soft metal; went for the Vanasche fuel cap which is a work of art. Did the Denali horn go on no bother? which one did you go for? Great post keep them coming✌

Thank you. I appreciate that. That’s bad luck with the fuel cap. So far so good with the 690 one. I’m sure the keys are the same. No issue with the horn at all. Pretty much plug and play. The small bracket that Holds the old horn I just turned round to fit the Denali. The connectors are joined together on the harness so just split the little plastic tab that held them together and they fit right on. The red oil light should go away right after you start it up, if thats what you mean then its normal. If it doesn't go away within 5 ish seconds then you should get the oil pressure and sensor checked

You should get it on dyno and see how the exhaust and dongle affects afr without map. Would make a great video. Theirs no video like it on KZbin and would clear up alot of speculation. 👍

Good question and I’ve been asked similar before. If I had to pick between them. Short weekend hoons around the lanes and it’s the 690, light nimble and plenty of punch. Longer days out, more miles to ride and it’s the 1290. It’s still quite nimble around country roads and obviously has plenty of grunt. So both have their place really. It’s a really tricky question lol. Maybe just maybe the 690 pips it. But only by a fraction, and I may change my mind in the next 60 seconds 😁

Hey Robbie. How long did it take you to see results with the dongle? Was it instant or did it take a while to calibrate? I've fitted a CRT dongle to my '23 plate but after half an hour and a few miles I don't think I can sense any difference.

Hi. Normally it’s straight away. For me on the 701 and 690 I noticed town riding was better. For me it was more noticeable on low speed low rpm riding.

Yes. The fuel optimiser (dongle) is connected to the bike via the 02 sensor.

I have a 701 Husky Enduro with stock pipe and dreadful low end fuelling especially dire in town and when it’s warming up. Did you notice much effect on economy (ok, you don’t ride these bikes for economy)? Thanks, Ian

Hi. The direct answer is I don’t know if it has changed the MPG as I’ve not ridden it enough to really notice. The few times I’ve been out I can for sure notice it runs better but really haven’t taken any notice of the MPG figures. At a guess I’d say round town it would be better now the low down fuelling is better but as said that’s just a guess.

I was wondering. I have an fmf and a evo air box on my bike will the fuel dongle make my bike run rich?

I can’t really say as you’ve changed the air box. But if anything at a guess and this is a pure guess I’d say you may be running quite lean at the moment, They run pretty lean out the factory so changing the air box may be making it even more so. Adding a dongle may be helpful but as I’ve said a few times in my vid’s I’m by far no mechanic. I plan on changing to possibly a DNA open filter but when I do I’ll get the bike remapped.

do you need a dyno tune with those mods? is the bike going to be to lean? do you void the warranty? wanted to do a full tune route but I was thinking to do just these until the warranty expires and focus on the looks for now, which is already cool as it is

Hi. The fuel optimiser actually makes the bike a little richer low down. The bike is lean from the factory so the optimiser reads the value from the Co2 sensor and increases it, fooling the ECU to run more fuel. A dyno isn’t needed at this stage. I will eventually get it remapped and replace the standard air filter which would for sure need a remap but for now this is a quick and relatively cheaper option but in no way replaces a proper remap. Warranty wise I don’t think there’s an issue. Depends on how anal your dealer is and if they cans actually prove your warranty issue is related to the modification. On the plus side replacing the fuel dongle is very simple so before it goes back to your dealer take it off.

@@Robbiemoto thank you for your reply, I have asked some mechanics for the dyno tune and apparently they said for eurob5 bike is very hard to do and apparently the only one who seems able to do it for me proposed me the rapidbike tune instead of the PC 6, others says it's not possible or whatever.

@xd4rk91x I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think peer commander does Euro 5. If you’re based in the UK there’s a place in Burnley called @BHPUK bhp-uk.net/ They have remapped 1290 and 690 Euro 5 bikes. Check out their KZbin channel.

'23 701 Enduro here with Yosh can, Rotweiller O2 sensor delete dongle and PC6 with their map. These bikes do come very lean for emissions, target AFR is 14.7:1 via the O2 sensor in the low end and part throttle areas, which is terrible. I did my bike in 2 steps - first the dongle and exhaust alone richen up the low end and let it breathe better, this was well worth it. Then I added a PC6 with Rottweiler's map and "de snorkled" the airbox, running a Twin Air foam filter panel. That unleashes the Kraken, it pulls much harder off the bottom, very XR650 like, and it revs hard. For the airbox, I removed the long portion of the snorkel and went up about 1/3 of the way on the cover, leaving the front portion of the snorkel intact so water doesn't drip in when washing. The entire bottom of the snorkel (facing the filter) got removed. Fuel economy is still good. I actually went the other way and geared it up 16/45 as it makes so much power now the stock gearing felt short. I find the quick shifter works better with the taller gearing, and now it cruises really nice at 70-75 MPH, or about 115 KPH for the more civilized people around the world who don't use archaic "freedom units" for their weights and measures 😆 The final touch is a Renazco Racing seat with black carbon weave sides and a dark blue suede top. I considered Seat Concepts as they are very good, but Renazco is gorgeous and the absolute best in my opinion. I did have to wait about 6 months to get it. James is a one man show, been doing seats for 40 years.

Thanks for the comment and We in the UK are fairly civilised and still use MPH 😁. Although we are really a mix of imperial and metric weights and measurements lol. I wasn’t aware Power commander’s were available for Euro 5 bikes. I know regarding your MPH comment you’re not in the USA 😁.

Hi. Low speed town riding. It’s not so lumpy and you don’t have to overly rev the bike. It fools the ECU into increasing the fuelling as far as I’m aware. Not a replacement to getting it remapped but a damn sight better than standard.

the fuel dongle only works upto 15% throttle after that it does nothing mate, get yourself booked onto flidfest track weekend to really get to know the bike 👌

I’ve a 2020 I’ve had from new and have the lowering kit. Engine wise I’ve the tekmo system and arrow can (originally had a wings). Rottweiler Performance SAS delete and air filter. PC5 and rolling roaded 72 bhp at the back wheel. Be careful warranty wise mine went bang at 1700 miles , KTM voided the warranty and were complete arseholes to deal.

That’s a rough deal. My dealer is pretty good with regards to mods so hopefully I’ll be ok if the unforeseen happens. What happened to your bike and did you have to pay for all the repairs ?

Top end went. They said something got sucked in despite never been run without a filter. However it looked more like oil starvation, rings broke and mashed top of piston. They told a few porkys, blocked emails just didn’t want to know. So had to pay for it. Would’ve been pissing the the wind legally anyway even though not down to parts fitted. Bike had 1700 miles, run in properly and was on third oil change. Was during lockdown so difficult to sort anything. A guy in Kent had similar but he was mates with the dealer so covered it up.

I’ve had two claims on my 1290 with no issues. Although it’s not heavily modded. But the dealer I used at the time, not the one I bought the bike from was really cool. Shame they went tits up over night.

I was interested in a SDR1260 but will never have another KTM (I’ve had three new ones). So I brought a Ducati V2 SF. I still like my SMCR but I have no confidence in it now.
