@@Robbiemoto FYI, I have been waiting for the weather to sort itself out so I can finally start riding again this year and then my appendix went and burst 10 days ago, I’m okay but post op I’m not allowed to ride or drive for at least the next six weeks. @@Robbiemoto the insurance will mount up they will replace the wheels parts and labour cost . If the option of cash payout and can buy back the bike at salvage cost . Your handy it could be put back together at not to much cost . Long as the forks aren’t damaged. Wheels not bent just cosmetic. May need rebalancing to make sure . Not A big problem. Very common to ground the engine case bolt . Undo. With grips new gaskets and cover . Can often buy second hand salvage parts plastics . Just a thought .I didn’t when my son crashed my triumph street triple ,years ago .kept insurance out of it they would of written it off And only 3rd party for other rider .

@marksmith8663 when I took a look at it at the garage it went through my mind on buying it back. As said it’s mostly cosmetic and bolt on stuff. It’s the bits we can’t see. I have to wait for the garages report. Had no choice with getting the insurance involved as I wasn’t the only one involved.

Great advice. I don’t feel it’s my riding. I’ve ridden with others that have complimented it at times. I really don’t know. Maybe just sheer bad luck. Confidence has took a battering. Ironically enough I was looking at those engine covers a few weeks back as I was looking for axle sliders for my 690 and they came up. They would have came out better than the engine bars as the bolts bent and damaged the plastics anyway.

@@Robbiemoto One of my mates took me out in 1983 and he was killed, I was back out on a bike that afternoon as soon as I was released from hospital. Don’t give it up, just get protected and trained to help avoid it happening. Got GB Racing engine case protectors and Evotech crash protection on the Superduke and T7. It’s easy to not be seen on a bike, assume nobody knows your there, and even after riding from 16 I will still adapt the way I ride after any near misses so I’m not in that position again.

Totally agree with you and I’m sorry about your pal. I’ve experienced something similar several years ago. Unfortunately with all the bruising around my pelvis there’s no way I can straddle a bike at the mo even if I wanted too. My front and back doors have been well and truly slammed 🤣

@bryansuperduke1290r That coccyx protector would have been perfect as I am suffering that end. All my kit had the D30 armour fitted. In my jeans and jacket. Only downside was my jeans and jacket didn’t zip together so I’ve got a bit of road rash on my upper hip. I do prefer the urban looking bike gear but after this I have given a full separate back protector and maybe going back to a one or two piece leathers some serious thought.

Cheers Rob. If I bought it back the wheels and subframe could be refurbed as they’re just scratched. Tiny scratch on the subframe too. Where as the insurance will replace. Time will tell.

Hi and thanks. I believe i did, can’t recall on how much but delivery was pretty quick really. Again I can’t recall the exact time frame but wasn’t that long. I’ve had 2 exhausts from them. One for the 701 I had and this one for the 690.

It was a 3 hr journey for me lol. They do a hand held flash unit but if you got yours done else where and you’re happy then that’s the main thing.

I believe so. I think the main difference between them are wheels, forks and handlebars. I’d Double check with your dealer just to make sure though.

I didn’t map it but did fit a fuel optimiser (dongle) which makes the fuelling a little richer low down.

and you didnt had any problems at all? this topic is very discussed and few say that for the Euro 5 the fuel dongles or optimizers dont work and i need a full mapping for my setup. im scared of breaking the motor with just the fuel optimizer 😂

@@BankomXan Yes there’s a lot of discussion regarding the dongle. I ran the 701 for 9 months with the wings exhaust and dongle with no issues. I’ve since sold the bike but purchased a 2023 KTM 690 last year. Again I ran this for around 6 months with a wings exhaust and dongle with no issues. I have a couple of weeks ago had it remapped. Remapping is the best way to go and it sorts the poor euro 5 fuelling out all through the Rev range. The dongle fools the ecu into adding more fuel at low revs to over come the poor low speed running. This is due to the bike being far to lean low down. in my opinion and experience I see no issues running with a dongle. But as said if you can get it mapped then that’s best.

I think it will Be ok. SAS is just for the vapour emissions from the fuel tank so doesn’t really make a difference with performance.

Great question and not ignorant at all. To be totally honest I really don’t know. It depends on what mods you have. They tried 2 maps on mine which according to the dyno weren’t that different but on the road I felt a difference so reverted back to the first map they put on. Your best bet is to call or message them. You could also buy the hand held flash unit. You download your currant map to them, tell them your mods and they send a map for that. If you’re not happy tell them what your issue is and they can try and amend it. The benefit of the hand held unit is you can always flash back to factory if your bikes under warranty and then reflash the custom map back on after.

Full dyno and map is £450. I had the same set up as you and was happy ish with it. But I wanted to get rid of the dongle and have the right mapping. I know the shifter is electronic but it just seems to shift easier. Like I said in the vid it may well be physiological. Either way I’m as happy as a pig in 💩🤣

Hi. I will be posting a longer vid of the dyno time. Work commitments have got in the way of editing time unfortunately. Hopefully I can get it sorted by the weekend. I’ll then film some actual road riding and upload my final thoughts. Apologies for any delays.

The remap has now been done @bhp_uk. Which I’ll post the video soon. Work commitments have held me up. I agree I’m a little concerned myself about the filter being open. But I don’t plan on washing it without covering it up. I’m not sure how much rain would get through when raining. Something I am thinking about.

You can buy their hand held flash unit where you download the map currently on your bike, upload it to them with what ever mods you’ve made and they then they write a map for you. I’d say it’s the right filter for a road bike. I’ve no idea about an Enduro.

Thank you. I’m not too concerned with reliability. If anything a map will make the bike run as it was designed to. Regarding the filter I’m in two minds in whether to leave it open or fit the original intake cover back in. It’s gonna be susceptible to the wet left open. I’ll see how it goes. Warranty wise I’m ok. Not like there’s anything that can’t be put back to standard. And to be honest if anything the bikes gonna run better, better fuelling better air intake. Well that’s my theory anyway 😁

Crazy they are the same price.
