Does Islam Allow the Exploitation of Female Prisoners of War? 'Sexual Slavery' Answered

Is so-called 'sexual slavery' permitted in Islam? NO, says Anne-Marie, who explains the Quran's REAL teachings on female prisoners of war. She shows how sexual assault and ill-treatment of prisoners was not allowed, and how such prisoners were either released or could earn their freedom.
No other religion has such humane and beneficial teachings on this difficult subject, and the World could have benefitted from them after WW2.

These "vulnerable women" (and men) were involved in warfare, sometimes as fighters themselves. And as a consequence, they were taken as prisoners of war (NOT slaves). And yet Islam guaranteed that they be looked after and not abused. What other culture in the past granted good treatment to those who fought against them? (Answer = none)

Not going to mention the Arab slave trade in sub-Saharan Africa, which lasted centuries longer than the trans-Atlantic one? These slaves were not captured in a defensive war. They were captured in raids, or purchased from other Africans, and subjected to horrific conditions.

Women rights in islam are like christianity but some are different ChatGPT In Islam, women's rights are also influenced by interpretations of Islamic teachings, cultural practices, and historical contexts. Here are some key points regarding women's rights in Islam: Equality in Spiritual and Moral Status: Islam teaches that men and women are equal in their spiritual and moral responsibilities before God. Both are considered equally accountable for their actions and both can achieve salvation through faith and righteous deeds. Legal Rights: Islamic law, known as Shariah, grants women various legal rights, including the right to inherit property, the right to work and earn money, the right to education, and the right to choose a spouse. These rights are outlined in the Quran and elaborated upon in the Hadith (sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad). Modesty and Dress: Islam promotes modesty for both men and women, with specific guidelines for dress (such as the hijab for women) aimed at promoting dignity and respect. Marriage and Family: Islam emphasizes the importance of mutual respect, love, and cooperation between spouses. Men are responsible for providing for their families, while women have the right to financial support from their husbands. Divorce is permitted but discouraged, and women have rights regarding divorce proceedings and custody of children. Historical Context: Throughout Islamic history, women have held significant roles as scholars, teachers, leaders, and contributors to various fields. The status and rights of women have varied across different cultures and time periods, influenced by local customs and interpretations of Islamic teachings. Contemporary Issues: Modern interpretations and practices regarding women's rights within Islam vary widely. Some Muslim-majority countries have laws that restrict women's rights, while others have made efforts to promote gender equality and women's empowerment within the framework of Islamic teachings.

Said bin Marjana said that he narrated that Hadith to 'Ali bin Al-Husain and he freed his slave for whom 'Abdullah bin Ja'far had offered him ten thousand Dirhams or one-thousand Dinars. The Quran calls for the freeing of slaves, either the owner manumitting the slave, or a third party purchasing and freeing the slave. The freeing of slaves is encouraged is an act of benevolence, and expiation of sins. Quran 24:33 devises a manumission contract in which slaves buy their freedom in installments

If we agree that owning another human being is unethical and wrong, why did Mohammed not simply stop slavery if God was on his side? Stopping an evil such as slavery includes stop owning slaves yourself, stop having sex with them, and stop buying and selling them. Capturing non-combatant civilian women against their wishes itself is grossly unethical. Upon that they are captured explicitly for the purpose of sex. My question is Which women would happily submit herself for sex as a slave after her husband or brother or father or son has been killed by the same people who captured her? Sex cannot happen between a slave and a master without force/coercing. You cannot romanticise a relation formed out of war and killing. It is not love that blossoms between them nor is it prostitution where there consent and no force involved. It is far worse than that because forcing invariably was there. It is pure common sense. Moreover A free woman has to cover herself with hijab to safeguard her dignity. A slave woman was prohibited from using hijab. A slave doesn't and should not have dignity? Why?? There are authentic sources which show People checked on their potential female slaves by pressing their breasts and other body parts on the pretext of verifying the quality of the commodity they are going to own. Now all these things were legal under sharia. If Pressing breasts of a woman by a number of buyers against her wishes is not rape then what is rape?

there it is from chatgpt Regulation and Treatment: Islam encouraged the humane treatment of slaves and emphasized their rights. Slaves were to be provided with food, clothing, and shelter in a manner consistent with the owner's own standard of living. Protections and Rights: Slaves had rights such as the right to be fed and clothed like their owners, the right to be treated with kindness, and the right to earn money and eventually buy their freedom through a contractual agreement (mukatabah). Marriage and Concubinage: Female slaves were not to be coerced into prostitution or exploited sexually without their consent. Islam allowed for the marriage of male owners with their female slaves (concubines), but this was regulated with certain rights and protections for the concubine. Encouragement of Manumission: Islam highly encouraged the freeing of slaves as a virtuous act, and many companions of the Prophet Muhammad and subsequent Muslims freed numerous slaves. Spirit of Abolition: While slavery was not abolished outright in Islamic law, the principles and values introduced by Islam laid the groundwork for eventual abolition movements within Muslim societies.

If a slave women become muslim wouldn't it be a sin for her to not give consent to let his master have sex with her as a slave have to obey his master till he doesn't order to do anything that is haram? She doesn't even certainly get to choose her master to make her sexual partner like a woman do before marriage. So even if she doesn't like him, dislike to even think of having sex with her master she have to sleep with him if she doesn't want to do sin by not obeying her master? Not every slave become entitled to get mukataba... or maybe no slave is entitled to - according to scholars. So, at least there can be slave who cannot liberate himself from slavery, what if a sex slave become one of them? Who have to obey her master to sleep with him.. Even if she dislike him, doesn't want to have sex, doesn't want children, doesn't want the hazard of pregnancy and laboring a child.. Islam doesn't allow making slaves by kidnapping but only from those who involved in war ( like - soldiers, someone who nurses the wounded soldiers in war ) but allows buying slave who was made slave by kidnapping, and sex is allowed with this kind of slave women too (E.g. made slave by attacking a tribe and then kiddnapping the people from that tribe and making them slave, whether the attackers were Muslim or Non-muslim they can be bought by muslim; by buying slaves from non-muslim countries and selling them to muslim people and slave markets in muslim countries; buying from sex trafficker who did the same thing - kidnapping, sheikh Syed Abdullah Tariq mentioned this kind of slavery when he gave his lectures about sexual slavery when he was explaining how all the interpretation to support sexual slavery is so absurd while this kind of slavery is still there. but if this is true the reliability of hadith is at question to me) __________________ Those who say, “Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary,” *have certainly fallen into disbelief* . The Messiah ˹himself˺ said, “O Children of Israel! Worship Allah-my Lord and your Lord.” Whoever associates others with Allah ˹in worship˺ will surely be forbidden Paradise by Allah. Their home will be the Fire. And the wrongdoers will have no helpers. ( Quran, 5:72 ) Kafara = disbelieved corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=5&verse=72 By this verse, those who just say “Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary” becomes kafir! Not that 'those who says __ , __ even after reading and understanding the Quran to be true' as indicated in some other verses of the Quran. But this verse indicates whether someone know about Islam or not becomes kafir by saying that and he will be in hell forever. __________________ ↓This is a copy of someone's comment from another video. I think the problem is these men are thinking of a Hollywood depiction of rape, a woman being held down and screaming. There is a Hollywood depiction or rape that is more accurate and in accordance with the Muslim raping of slaves; The Handmaids Tale. There is no screaming or fighting, but those women do not say no because they fear punishment. A slave woman who runs away and gets captured is punished by the law. So she have no free association. Just like the women in the Handmaid's tale. Ways in which a woman can be punished for refusing to allow themselves to be penetrated without fighting, crying or screaming; A Muslim slave owner can sell them to an abusive person. A muslim slave own can sell their family or friends out of spite - breaking up their family and support network. So there are legal ways in which a slave can be punished, for not allowing themselves to be punished without a fight. When these women are laying back and letting the Muslim men do what they want, some Muslims seem to be rationalizing that as a ‘choice’ without thinking about the context in which that ‘choice’ is being made. They are slaves, they can't freely associate with their masters; they can't come and go as they please. If Muslim slaves aren't being raped, then neither are the women in The Handmaid's Tale - according to Muslim like the man in the video. They seem to be conflating ideals with reality. The spirit of the law is; treat them well, be nice, don't pressure or coerce them into sex, the letter of the law allows them to do just that. A slave is always under an implicit threat of negative consequences for refusing to do what their master wants. THEY ARE SLAVES.

Bro the concept of reincarnation (rebirth) comes from Hinduism and Buddhism. In Islam death is explained as an event when your soul left your body. After your soul left your body it would not come again in this life but in life after death(Qiyyamah) "the life after death is something which we dont now how it really is"(Al-Quran). So there is no concept of reincarnation in Islam. (Sorry for my english~Ahmadi🇩🇪)

If you like here are some arguments which I have to support the islamic point of view. I am not an expert but I think I can try to explain it. 1. If reincarnation is true, then the population should not grow, but we have already problems with overpopulation. 2. We should not care (no feelings) about people who suffers because they are getting their punishment. We dont have to go to the hospital, we are just having karma from our previous life. Edit: (We can even stop Karma if we go to the hospital 😁) 3. If someone get punished for his previous life. In next life he must have live good and if live good life he will not punished again because he lived a good life. At this point no one should be punished because he lives a good life but knowadays the situation is getting worse and worse, there are people who suffering more and more. If reincarnation is true than this suffering must end. Again at the end this is just my point of view maybe you think differently.

As application to islamic slavery, take the case of two girls enslaved by Muhammad after killing their husbands and fathers. Those girls were originally not slaves, in fact belonged to high ranking family of the non-muslim. After the killing, Muhammad made all girls as slave-girls automatically owned by him. In the quran, it is called right hand possess. The two slave-girls were released their status from slaves to wives of Muhammad, the condition to be free from slavery. From this sunnah, muslims can marry four free woman and his right hand posses (owned slave-girls). ".....right hand possesses whom Allah has given to you,) means, `the slave-girls whom you took from the war booty are also permitted to you.' He owned Safiyyah and Juwayriyah, then he manumitted them and married them, and he owned Rayhanah bint Sham`un An-Nadariyyah and Mariyah Al-Qibtiyyah, the mother of his son Ibrahim, upon him be peace; they were both among the prisoners, may Allah be pleased with them."

Had you watched the video, you'd realise it refutes each of your points. Here's the refutation AGAIN: 1. They were prisoners of war. Not slaves. As explained in the video - the POW status automatically stopped anyway at the end of the war. 2. The women were freed and then their hand in marriage offered. Reyhana is quoted IN THE VIDEO ITSELF as an example of a woman who was freed from being a POW by the Prophet (sa) and who rejected his hand in marriage, but he let her go free. 3. He never owned Juwairiyyah (ra). That also is in the video. She was a POW given to Thabit bin Qais (ra) who manumitted her through the Mukatabah system. 4. Mariyah Qibtiyyah was never owned by him. Again, nonsense. She was an Egyptian heiress sent as a wife to him from Muqauqis. She was never a POW and never "among the prisoners" because the Muslims were never at war with Muqauqis. Your Copy-Paste hatchet job really exposes your total lack of knowledge.

If it is permissible for men because there can be high chances of fornication in such situation if it isn't permissible then doesn't the same chances is there when a female have a male slave? Here too both are male and female.. so in such cases do Allah only have mercy for the children of muslim men who are born by his slave that he legalized such relationship so that those children can live normally in society but not the same mercy to the children who are born in such cases to muslim women? Even though most mother can fully take care of her children on her own even if some may need the support of family/society/gevernment as this kind of support system is given in Islam for any woman so that she doesn't need to work, this facility could have been given to such women too yet a separate rule for them..? Is it more important that all children have equal, right treatment or is it more important that although most women can take responsibility of them and their children but to ensure that all women and their children have a male guardian so that she don't need to work throw her children born out of wedlock at more disadvantage, or is it more right that for both men and women it should be haram and if there are children born to ayone out of wedlock their children should be the responsibility of the family or society or government? (most of the muslin don't do fornication because it's haram, right? There are many people, families who are living with their male or female servants under same roofs are they all committing zina..? Or is it haram for them to live under one roof...?) Although this explanation has also been given 23:6 and 23:7 ayahs of Quran refer to both men and women because 'azwaaj'(spouse) and 'ma malakat aymanukum'(right hand possess) refers to both male and female (23:6) even ma malakat aymanukum can be children, so pedophilia in anyway is halal in Islam? And 'whoever' can also be male and female (in 23:7) ('man' also refer to both men and women in Quran if the ayah doesn't state it is referring to men and women separately in Quran according to Arabic language, ( Rest is in reply ↓ )
@marion34999
@marion34999 Жыл бұрын
('man' also refer to both men and women in Quran if the ayah doesn't state it is referring to men and women separately in Quran according to Arabic language, although 'man' is not stated on those ayahs even then I explained), from previous ayahs to those ayahs nowhere it is indicated that it is referring to only men, so if this ayahs indicate permissibility of sex with spouse or right hand possess then it is permissible for both men and women to have sex with their slave. And in those two ayahs there isn't stated spouse 'and' right hand possess rather stated 'or' - spouse 'or' right hand possess.., so whatever is said to be permissible here, the two will not be permissible together, If you do it by your right hand possess, it will not be permissible by your wife (so cannot marry if you will continue that with right hand possess) and vise-versa (but 'and' is stated for prophet Mohammad (Sa.)) .. also maybe this verses are not talking about permissibility of sexual slavery, spouse and right hand possess are said to be permissible in this ayah for other subject. Links at the end if this are about this. I found in several places this inforformations of this link - www.newageislam.com/islamic-ideology/s-arshad,-new-age-islam/true-meaning-of-the-phrase-‘ma-malakat-aymanukum’--does-it-mean-only-male-or-female-slaves?/d/114304 that the phrase ma malakat aymanukum can also refer to poor and needy persons, male or female. In the Quran, the word ‘Abd’ is used for male servant and ‘amah’ is used for female servant. So, when the Quran wants to specify any one of them it uses specific words but when it speaks of both, it uses the phrase ma malakat aymanukum and leaves it to the reader to understand its meaning according to the context. In Surah Al Nur, the Quran gives a list of men or male members of her family before whom she can come without Purdah or reveal her adornment: Here too, the phrase Ma Malakat Aymanuhunna is used meaning slaves. Obviously, here slave means male slaves. “and not to reveal their adornment save to their own husbands or fathers or husbands' fathers, or their sons or their husbands' sons, or their brothers or their brothers' sons or sisters' sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack vigour, or children who know naught of women's nakedness.” (Al Nur: 31) --- “Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess” (Al Nisa: 24) The above quoted verse deals with the women who are prohibited for men for marriage. Among those are the women too who are though married but are prisoners of war and are in the custody of Muslims. Therefore, in this context, “whom your right hands possess” does not mean only female slaves but also prisoners of war among women. (So if this context was saying sex with ma malakat aymanukum is permissible than it means sex with prisoner of war is permissible? -without making them slave?) --- On one or two occasions, Quran also uses the word ‘Fatayat” to specifically mean young maids or female captives in addition to the phrase ‘Ma Malakat Aymanukum’”: “Ma Malakat Aymanukum Min Fatayatukum Al Muminat” (Al Nisa; 25) It means young girls among your captives or slaves. This also shows that Ma Malakat Aymanukum is gender neutral and only means slaves or female slaves. “La Takrahu Fatayatikum” (Al Nur: 33) “Do not force your female slaves (into prostitution) --- “Allah has bestowed His gifts of sustenance more freely on some of you than on others: those more favoured are not going to throw back their gifts to those whom their right hands possess, so as to be equal in that respect. Will they then deny the favours of Allah?” (Al Nahl: 71) In this verse, the phrase “Ma Malakat Aymanukum” is not used to mean only male or female slaves but all the poor and needy persons, male or female, dependent on the wealthy and well to do people. This verse also hints at the system of distribution of Zakat because the purpose of Zakat is to distribute a portion of the income or wealth of a well to do person to needy people around him. Thus, all the needy people around a well to do person are ‘Ma Malakat Aymanuhum” according to this verse. The Quran envisages a society where the wealthy will always take care of the needy people around them and will strive to reduce poverty in his area by parting with a portion of their wealth with the poor and the needy. Therefore, all the needy and the destitute under a wealthy person’s purview are his “right hand possession” or “Ma Malakat Aymanuhum” or dependents in terms of financial position and it is his religious duty to take care of them. So, even a beggar, an orphan or a destitute person comes under the phrase ‘Ma Malakat Aymanukum’. This is the broader meaning of the term “Ma Malakat Aymanukum”. Link - www.newageislam.com/islamic-ideology/s-arshad,-new-age-islam/true-meaning-of-the-phrase-‘ma-malakat-aymanukum’--does-it-mean-only-male-or-female-slaves?/d/114304 ______ What if the slave woman doesn't know those Islamic rules (that she can turn their relationship as boss and employee etc) and her master only inform her that he can have sex with her and offers her to have sex with him and she feels she have to do it although he doesn't make her feel like that in 'unislamic' way?/he doesn't give her permission to meet other people and go outside home so that she never get to know those rules? Or he took her to a place where no one lived far away (many people take their wife to such places to emotionally control them, leaving her helpless in such an environment, weakening her courage) so that she kind of feels like she has to depend on this man and there is no other way/help/way to to live without him, also she doesn't know those Islamic rules.. so that in the end she has to agree to have sex although she doesn't want to (as a slave she will be obliged to go with him in such place if he orders her to go with him? as I understand). Even in today's world in many places girls are tricked to go to foreign countries and they give them in marriage in villages, where they couldn't get help, ask for help because of language barrier, they didn't know their language. I don't remember/know all the countries where it happened but there are many places where it happened even several years ago like villages in Turkey, Vietnam, maybe still happens. This types of stories happens in cities too where even if they are not threatened they understand they just can't leave the home and have to live with them. Would you like if this things happen to your family member? Maybe someone will think it can happen to someone's wife too so that doesn't mean we should say marriage is a bad thing, but in this case at least she chose her sexual partner, but she didn't choose her sexual partner if she is in a master-slave relationship, she may need to just agree to sleep with the man she doesn't like or doesn't want to sleep with someone when she is his slave in this case. Forced marriage is haram in Islam. females have the right to choose her husband in Islam. What if a slave woman's master look at her by hiding while she is changing her dress? Is it stated somewhere he cannot look at her for sexual pleasure till she gives permission? Would a muslim women or any women want that?→ before me deciding who will be my sexual parter (we can choose husband, not master to be his slave) anyone watch me naked without my knowledge? Don't forget your muslim sisters could be at that place as a slave too. In Islam females have to reach puberty *and* need to have mental maturity to get married, but is there any such requirement stated for slave girls in Islam to engage sexually with their master? What if the master of a minor slave girl doesn't know minor girls can have serious physical, mental harm if someone have sex with them and have sex with his minor slave girl? Maybe sexual slavery isn't permissible in Islam. @@h.lnetwork2455 The literal meaning of ملك اليمين" is right hand possess. Application according to the islamic example of Muhammad. Rape, or az-zina bil jabr (الزنا بالجبر), is a crime under Islamic law, and the perpetrator is subject to the hudud, id est capital punishments such as whipping and execution. The Islamic understanding of rape, though, differs markedly from the understanding of rape present in modern codes of law. "maa malakat 'aymaanakum"ما ملكت أيمانكم" or "what your right hand possess", id est slaves, do not have the right to refuse the sexual advances of their owners, and likewise for women taken as booty by victorious Muslim warriors. Wives, likewise, do not have the ability to refuse the sexual advances of their husbands. As such, the rape of slaves and wives is not considered as such in Islamic law. Almost to emphasis the point, the rape of the slaves of other men is treated as property damage, not as zina bil jabr deserving a hadd punishment.

What lies? The Quran does permit a relationship with your slave woman, she was not denying it. She was giving it context. She is just saying that slaves had rights and should not be abused. The children of slaves were born as free and with full rights , and should not be austricized. She also said there are avenues you can earn your freedom as a slave. Think of it like paying of your morgage loan. Intrest, debt, and the prison system are our current form of slavery.

One of the most striking hadiths addressing Exploitation of Female Prisoners of War is found directly below: "We [Muhammad’s merry men] went out with Allah's messenger on the expedition to the Mustaliq and took captive some excellent Arab women; and we desired them for we were suffering from the absence of our wives, (but at the same time) we also desired ransom for them. So we decided to have sexual intercourse with them but by observing azl" (withdrawing the male sexual organ before emission of semen to avoid conception). But we said: "We are doing an act whereas Allah's messenger [i.e., Muhammad] is amongst us; why not ask him?" So we asked Allah's messenger and he said: "It does not matter if you do not do it, for every soul that is to be born up to the Day of Resurrection will be born". (Sahih Muslim, Vol. 2, #3371) Tellingly, the role model of the Muslims, Muhammad, does not exclaim: “DO NOT FORNICATE WITH THE CAPTIVES!” Nor does he exclaim to the married men: “DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY WITH THE CAPTIVES!!” Finally, we note that he does not yell: “DO NOT RAPE THE CAPTIVES!!!” So the Debate Question is then: “Why did Muhammad not instead say, “Leave the poor captives alone!”?

Jihad in Islam is very clearly not just a reference to defensive war, or spiritual struggle, and pretending so is misleading . Jihad is also a reference to expansionist war, to extend the boundaries of Islam, at the clear expense of Non- Muslims, Including Christians. Islam is an inherently expansionist ideology. "Offensive jihad, known in Arabic as جهاد الطلب "jihad at-talab" ("the jihad of request", referring to the invitation to Islam which must be sent to the opposing infidels before hostilities may commence), is understood in the classical sources as an offensive struggle against Dar Al-Harb (the House of War or the realm of the infidels), is a duty incumbent upon Muslims and the Ummah, and as such is to be carried out in a variety of ways. Outright war and fighting is permitted, and as the prophet himself said (in agreement with many great generals and military leaders throughout history such as Sun Tzu and von Clausewitz) "war is deceit" and as such breaking treaties, oaths, and promises is permittable as a part of Jihad on the path of Allah, and likewise all other forms of misdirection as a part of jihad. Muslim scholars generally agree that the duty of Jihad is eternal until "the religion is to Allah" yet significant differences exist between scholars about whether Jihad may be validly conducted when the presence of a caliph and commander of the faithful is lacking". wikiislam.net/wiki/Jihad_in_Islamic_Law#Jihad_in_the_Qur'an

@saminyasir937 6 ай бұрын
Don't just interpret things however you want unlike christians we muslims know our religion War is deceit never meant breaking peace treaty you mention scholar, but which scholar are you referring to? wikiIslam is not reference for any Islamic information. Breaking treaty, Oath and promises and lying to the enemy is something which takes someone out of the folds of Islam so, it is not allowed, but yes misdirection as a tactics is allowed so, no classical scholar did not say that you are making things up. And this is what scholars say, Al-Nawawi said: “The scholars are agreed that it is permissible to deceive the kuffaar in war in any way possible, except if that would mean breaking the terms of a treaty or trust, in which case it is not permitted." And yes, Islam has offensive wars, but it is the norm, people did wars of conquest in the past it is a good thing to expand power and political influences to protect the Ummah. liberal concepts of religious freedom and tolerance did not exist in the past ask any Jews their history about what happened to them and Muslims in Spain etc. How about you decry the expansionist wars of America and Israel, and liberal Imperialism? And one other thing in Islam in case of Offensive Jihad pros and cons are weighted and if a war benefits muslims then it can be conducted, it is not a duty upon every Muslim when dedicated army exists cause it is a communal obligation and it is a duty upon on every able-bodied male in case when enemy attacks an Islamic Land as you are calling it. And no jihad does not only refer to wars it does also refer to any type of struggle to convey the truth to non-muslims, or struggling against yourself (As you call it spiritual struggle) etc these are other forms of Jihad. And in case of permission of ruler two different ruling exist for two different scenarios like in case of offensive jihad, Ibn Qudaamah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The matter of jihad is in the hands of the ruler and his ijtihaad, and the people must obey him in whatever he sees fit with regard to that. End quote. Al-Mughni (10/368). in case of defensive jihad permission of Ruler is not needed it is duty on every muslims.

He is the Mighty, the Wise.That is Allah’s grace; He bestows it on whom He pleases; and Allah is the Master of immense grace." [62:1-5] The Message of the Holy Prophet was meant not only for the Arabs among whom he was raised but for all non-Arabs as well, and not only for his contemporaries but also for the generations to come till the end of time. Or, the verse may signify that the Holy Prophet will be raised among another people who have not yet joined his immediate followers. The reference in the verse and in a well-known saying of the Holy Prophet is to the Second Advent of the Holy Prophet himself in the person of the Promised Messiah in the Latter Days. Says Abu Hurairah: 'One Day we were sitting with the Holy Prophet when Surah Jumu‘ah was revealed. I enquired from the Holy Prophet, Who are the people to whom the words, 'And among others of them who have not yet joined them,' refer.' Salman, the Persian, was sitting among us. Upon my repeatedly asking him the same question, the Holy Prophet put his hand on Salman and said, 'If Faith were to go up to the Pleiades, a man from these would, surely, find it' (Bukhari). This saying of the Holy Prophet shows that the verse applies to a man of Persian descent. The Promised Messiah, was of Persian descent. Other sayings of the Holy Prophet speak of the appearance of the Messiah at a time when there would remain nothing of the Qur’an but its words and of Islam but its name, i.e. the true spirit of Islamic teaching will have been lost (Baihaqi). Thus the Qur’an and the Hadith both agree that the present verse refers to the Second Advent of the Holy Prophet in the person of the Promised Messiah. Whether you want to understand this word to mean elected or preferred, there is no doubt the Jewish nation continues to think they are special because God chose them.Christians believe they have inherited this with the new covenant. As for Islam, you are right it does say 'Muslims are the best for mankind', but the verse continues 'Ye enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency; and ye believe in God' So we do not think ourselves better just because we are called Muslims, but because we are suppose to believe in God and encourage good conduct, like prayer, fasting, and feeding the poor, and forbid evil, like alcohol, gambling and sexual immorality.
