Amen brother. Your channel is a blessing and I'm glad to have come across it. The teaching of many pastors and theologians has made a lot of people read eternal salvation into scriptures where it does not apply. And the result is people being on edge spiritually because they are now paranoid that they can lose eternal life based on the conditions of the verses they are reading. The example of James 5:20 was a good proof of that error and you did a great job breaking it down. Thanks for the video.

@OnoDiamante It is worth noting that the "sick" in verse 14 and the "sick" in verse 15 are two different Greek words. One must also remember that sickness and healing is parabolic language for sin and salvation (Matthew 13:15). Furthermore, you have to wonder why sin should be an issue, because those that are saved are free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1-2), which means there sins are not and will never be counted against them, your sins are always forgiven, it is one of the reasons why you can never lose your salvation. You cannot assume that just because they are referred too as "brethren" makes them saved (Romans 1:7 & 8:9), one must have the Holy Spirit to be saved (John 3:5). You can believe and be baptized, but without the Holy Spirit you are not saved (Acts 8:12-17). That fact the Simon the sorcerer had to have his sin forgiven tells me that he was not saved and yet he believed (Acts 8:9-23).

Can you explain Luke 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. Why does Jesus point to her love as at least one of the reasons she is forgiven and continues to say "but to whom little is forgiven the same loves little"? Jesus doesn't say "might love little" or even not at all, it seems what Jesus is saying is if someone is forgiven and they really believe they are forgiven they will at least love a little and conversely if an individual does not love at all they don't really believe they are forgiven which means they don't really have faith which means they aren't saved. This clearly teaches faith without works is still faith. We must do the Father's will to recieve salvation. And the Father's will is that we believe in His Son. I heard a theory that the book of James was most likely the first book of the NT to be written, possibly around or before AD 49 before the council of Jerusalem. Considering the confusion at that time and James only coming to faith after Jesus resurrection, could it be possible that James’ words were in error through ignorance or confusion. The suggestion was that it was left in the bible to show and confirm the reason for the council in Jerusalem. In the same way the error of Jobs ‘friends’ were left in the bible. Considering what appears to be contradiction in chapter 2 with regards to works, also mentioning Abraham was saved through works, it does sound feasible? I know that it does pertain to works profiting the brethren which is a reasonable and correct premise. But could this idea that James wrote the book prior to the council when there was confusion among the apostles and elders. James did not walk with Jesus throughout His ministry and perhaps didn’t understand the ‘mystery’ that Paul revealed later. I would be interested on your thoughts of this idea. Thanks in advance.

How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 Or how can someone enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed he may plunder his house. 30 Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. 31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

It's interesting that you say that James 5:15 shows that the context is saving a soul from physical death, but notice it says: "and the prayer of faith will SAVE the sick man, and the Lord will RAISE HIM UP; and if he has committed sins, he WILL be forgiven." This doesn't show that the man is saved from physical death, since after these prayers, the Lord will raise him up, which would happen after physical death. It also talks about sins that WILL be forgiven (future tense), which contradicts the idea that future sins are forgiven upon regeneration. Those prayers affected the soul's state with God, not their physical state.
@JohnRitz-gv8qw3 ай бұрын
It should also be noted that this passage talks about "covering a multitude if sins" and the forgiveness of sins. Which further shows that the context is about salvation.
@OnoDiamante3 ай бұрын
Wrong. The Lord raising him up is referring to his physical restoration from sickness. Again, in 1 Corinthians 11:30, we see Corinthian believers under divine chastisement. This included weakness, illness, and physical death. "For this cause many are weak and SICKLY AMONG YOU, and many SLEEP." I'm sure you also interpret the healing in verse 16 in the eternal sense.
@OnoDiamante3 ай бұрын
@@JohnRitz-gv8qw No, this further demonstrates that you consistently fail to rightly divide the word of truth. It's a highly immature method of interpretation when you seemingly make every passage refer to eternal life or damnation. You quite literally can't help but do so when you see words like "save," "fire," "forgiveness," etc.
@JohnRitz-gv8qw3 ай бұрын
@OnoDiamante I agree with you, that God may choose to chastise or physically heal someone, according to His will (and in the case of 1 Corintheans 11:30, it's actually talking about receiving the Eucharist in an unworthy state). So on that point, we agree. But in James 5:15, you can see the context of sins being covered and forgiven. Wouldn't you say that the forgiveness of sins is directly related to salvation: which is conditioned upon the forgiveness of sins? If this is only talking about physical deliverance, then why does it mention forgiveness of sins?
@OnoDiamante3 ай бұрын
@@JohnRitz-gv8qw I would say that if I completely disregarded the context and never considered the audience being addressed. Simon the Sorcerer is a fine example of a saved individual who believed in Christ and was water-baptized. What did Peter say unto him post-salvation? "Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart MAY BE FORGIVEN THEE." As a believer, he was in danger of severe divine chastisement from God. A PHYSICAL perishing of the body (Acts 8:20), not an eternal damnation to Hell. So, no, the concept of forgiveness does not always refer to salvation from the penalty of sin. This is why the Bible admonishes us to "rightly divide the word of truth."
@Chris-zh9nd3 ай бұрын
To me, those who understand eternal security tend to have a higher knowledge of scripture than those who don't. Just reading lose-your-salvation in texts is a, shall I say, lazy way of reading scripture. It doesn't look deeper into the meanings of words and teachings but rather acts as a disprover's teaching. Just plucking passages and saying they mean someone can lose their salvation. At the cost of maintaining a coherent soteriology. And leads to back and forth theology on grace and works. One week it's amazing grace next week it's watch your behavior. It takes a good understanding of scripture to really get this concept down on how the Bible teaches security but moral responsibility. Just blurting out scriptures and declaring, THAT'S talking ABOUT LOSS OF SALVATION! Just feels lazy to me.

You're correct. People are repeating what they may have learned, it could be deeply ingrained from childhood. It's still the ego talking and people wanting to believe they are morally superior or more deserving of heaven. The book of James isn't even written to the Church, let's view James 1:1 and clearly see who the book of James is written to... James 1:1 (KJV): James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. To the one reading this... Are you a member of one of the twelve tribes of Israel? If you are then great...the book of James is written to you. If you are not...then the book of James is not written to you.

As Christians we are told to follow the teachings of the apostle Paul because he received his teachings from the resurrected Jesus in heaven. The book of James was written by James before Paul was even saved and James was also martyred before Paul got saved. You are not rightly dividing the word of truth as stated in 2 Timothy 2:15. If you go by 2 Timothy 2:15 and rightly divide the word of truth, then you can't take the book of James and make it doctrine for the Church because it is written to the twelve tribes of Israel. The book of James actually contradicts the teachings of Paul because James states a faith and works gospel in his book and not a faith alone gospel like Paul does. Recognizing these things when it comes to scripture is very important and you need to rightly divide the word of truth as stated in 2 Timothy 2:15 so that you don't end up believing false doctrine. The book of James is actually written for Jews that will be going through the Tribulation Period in which there will be a faith and works gospel for salvation.

@@danielblair4413 Gal 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. The book of James does not contradict Paul, you probably have been taught wrong about James 2 where it's talking about justification before man (Jas 2:18) and physical salvation (Jas 2:14-17). Also, if your background is mid-acts, notice they contradict what a "new creature" really is (Gal 6:15). If you follow Paul, then you would know the 12 twelve scattered abroad are part of the new creature.
