I’m an atheist and what this interviewer is doing is for clicks, likes, and gotchas. He is part of the problem. The constitution states that congress will not respect a religion. These LA government folks are digging their own grave and are a backward scared people in my opinion. The folks being interviewed aren’t wrong, and that state has every right to put that up. These people are pitting folks against each other for their own gain. It’s so obvious they want the country to fall. Tolerance and acceptance of beliefs should be the norm. These people being interviewed although degenerate in my opinion have every right to believe what they believe. What the fuck is happening?

I am a teacher in Louisiana and something that is left out of this conversation is that I as a teacher will be forced to violate the constitution. I am being forced to use my classroom to violate the rights of my students who are supposed to trust me to protect them. The students need to be part of the conversation, but the teachers need to be talked about as well.

But I agree it's there But also in Corinthians it says SPECIFICALLY of sexual sins the faithful are not to judge the non-faithful,only to expel them and leave the judgment to God (1 Corinthians 5:12-13) And "go forth and multiply" was used twice, in parables (imo) when the Earth needed to be repopulated. Otherwise Paul says that it's better for men not get married at all, like him, but to do so if they can't control their lust (1 Corinthians 8-9) Point being that whether divorse, sex, judgment, etc most people are not only following incorrectly but are in violation to be publicly slamming gay people You'll also see many people incorrectly excuse sin by saying "for we all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God " but that's only meant as the reason for why non-believers must come to and acceptt Christ, John says a believer is to longer sin (1 John 5:18) So people would be better served working out their salvation (Philippians 2:12) than going around judging gay people

There was. At least there was Bible reading in some school districts, including mine. Hopewell Valley Regional School District (NJ) in the late 1950s/very early 1960s had the teacher read a Bible verse every morning (usually a Psalm because they were easy for children to understand) after the Pledge of Allegiance. The teacher would keep a Bible on her desk for the purpose. It stopped when I entered Jr. High in the fall of 1964. I believe there was a Supreme Court decision around that time stopping it. When I went to college, I asked my friends, who came from elsewhere in the US, if they ever had Bible reading in their public school. They said no. So my school district must have been one of the last holdouts.

@@Ritty109 Not in my schools. There was a “Prayer Club” that met after school, it wasn’t mandatory, but it was sparsely attended. Some teachers offered their Christian testimony during class, which technically wasn’t allowed, but it didn’t bother anybody. We had teachers from all the major faiths and we all got along ok.

If The 10 Commandments can be posted in Louisiana schools, does that mean The 5 Pillars Of Islam or The 4 Caste Levels Of Hinduism can also be posted in the schools? The so called 'c@_ste' in Hinduism isn't equivalent to the 10 commandments or the pillars because theologically 'c@_ste' is actually against the central tenets of Hinduism which is non-dualistic qualitative monism or PAN-EN-THEISM & concept of 'c@_ste' is overruled & dismantled by Hindu scriptures itself. If anything has to be taught regarding Hinduism it would concepts from Upanishads, Vedas & the Bhagavad Gita. The first guy is correct. Islam recognizes Jesus as a person, but they dont consider him the son of god. If I was a conscientious teacher in LA, I would say, "OK, you've just given me the responsibility to teach about this academically". Then bring up how the 10 Commandments were preceded by the Code of Hammurabi. How there is no archeological evidence for Moses and the Exodus story. How there are two different versions of the Ten Commandments in the Bible. What Article VI of the Constitution says about "no religious test". What the 1st Amendment says about separation of religion and government. What the only Treaty ever passed unanimously by Congress says about how the "United State is in no sense founded on the Christian Religion". And when they complain, tell them they are free to take the 10 Commandments back to Sunday School and we will no longer speak about it academically in an academic setting.

It is not the job of any government to teach religion. That’s the job of the family of the individual kid in public schools. Take your kid to Sunday school. Citizens of all religions make up the tax dollars that fund public schools. Therefore all have a say. Not just Christians.

As someone who has worked in a Public School System for 42 years as a secretary, I believe that any religious materials and beliefs should remain in the Church and home. At least in my State, which has a VERY diverse population, Federal, State, and Local funding CANNOT be used to purchase Religious materials to be used in Public Schools, as that would violate the first amendment of US Constitution that mandates a separation of Church and State.

I help out at my kids school and we to that same school as a child myself and I have yet to see anyone of them put up anything related to a religion or even for celebration of months. The closest thing they get to that might be considered offensive is black history month and they tend to find and read a book that was written by a black author or is about some famous black person. I mean teaching kids how to be respectful is one thing but to teach them about not having sex with the nextdoor neighbor is another. Hell one of my teachers what married to the local priest and yet not one day did she think to use her husbands teachings for school. My best friends dad was a preacher and never did he go into the school putting up posters of church related things. He let her decide if she wanted to go to public or private school. She picked public after being in a private church school for her first 7 years of school. Never did she look back and to be honest she said that the private one was so much worse then the public schools. She was never told to use her mind or to think for herself and that the only good she would do is being the daughter of God. If that don't make you want to be part of that world I don't know what would. I mean being told your not good enough by the ones who are to be teaching you to be a better you.

Though I wasn't privy to the curriculum, I do know that 4th graders always had field trips to the New Bedford Whaling Museum. We also have a substantial Black population, some of whom have ancestors that were brought here or rescued from slavery, as we were a stop on the "Underground Railroad". As a matter of fact, New Bedford was the first "free" home of Abolitionist Frederick Douglass, where he lived for four years. There is a memorial to Frederick Douglass across the street from the Nathan and "Polly" Johnson House, where Douglass resided.

I just went on a trip with my girls to DC and we got to see mount Vernon to Gettysburg and we got to actually learn about things you would never be taught in a school setting. Like how only 1 civilian died during the battle at Gettysburg to the native American that helped during WW1 being treated like second hand citizens even after serving. Or getting to stand in the same spot as MLK did when he gave his I have a dream speech. My son did do a project on books that got banned his senior year and even then most the kids picked one book where he picked 4 and then went and asked others what they thought of some of the quotes out of the books.

@@christinewelford1842 I worked in the New Bedford Public School System, in the city where I live, and the Native American population from this area, including Plymouth (where the Pilgrims were greeted in 1620) as well as Cape Cod and the islands, was the Wampanoag tribe. Almost immediately, they were treated very poorly. The Pilgrims, and those that followed were referred to as the "English" and the Wampanoag were referred to as "Savages". The first war on what would later become American soil, wasn't the Revolutionary War, it was the "King Philip War" in 1645. What became of the Wampanoag is too lengthy to include here, but to this day, there are no more full-blooded Wampanoag, but their descendants still keep up some of their traditions. By the way, every Thanksgiving is considered a day of mourning by descendants of the Wampanoag.

And as somebody who has studied for 46 years, the background and origin of Christianity… Christians are a derivative of Judaism, which is a derivative of ancient Judaism, which is a derivative of several ancient Mesopotamian traditions in the region, all of which were derived from ancient Sumerian. And to prove this you need only look at the word “Earth” used 902 times in the Bible, most significantly when Jesus used it in the Lords prayer. Ea is a Sumerian Anunaki… or what we would call “god” who was also called Enki, who was the prince (son of king Anu) who came from planet Nibiru (came down from the heaven… which has always only meant the sky & everything beyond what we can see). The word “earth” is translated as “the abode of Ea” but is most accurately translated to imply that Ea created all life on Earth & owns this planet. So if Jesus used the word “Earth” In the phrase “… on Earth as it is in heaven.” Then would you say he was ignorant and just repeating words people told him because he’s not the omnipotent god who created the universe or would you say that he was worshiping an Anunaki and specifically giving props to god Ea… which by the way violates the 10 Commandments. Either way it shows that Jesus knew who Ea was & his “religion”, as you call it, included Anunaki gods.
