Our Hero shares a scripture from the Book of Mormons which actually has a good message for non-mormons.

Also, bananas are a tropical fruit. They go bad if they’re kept in the fridge. Need a warm climate.

I love the way Jordan Peterson describes sin as missing your mark, the archery term, set your own goals and purpose and aim up! I was writing this as you were kinda saying the same thing

with the ward חטא (sin) the meaning basically just means wrong as in doing to yourself or others is the most accurate translation into the English i think a lot of church leaders attach to much to this word in my opinion. also bad idea to put bananas in the refiguration most tropical fruits lose flavour and get cold burn, i never refrigerate tomato's earth they do better been kept out in a bowl near a window specially if they are a pale orange they will get sweeter.

Someone who hasn’t finished the video yet would be so confused at how naturally you slid into advice for storing fruit and that made me laugh really hard.

@@ubermormon9611 i did also agree with your viewpoint i was thinking about how the heads of the church use the word sin in a controlling manner, but then got side-tracked over food just stated a diet.

Interesting Video, and good insights. I agree (there are many ways you can "verify" truth) Even one apostle said (in the past) That God gave him a good mind - so that was his way of doing things. Also praying is just one (such as what moroni taught) but in DC says you must "study" it out in your mind too. I think God can manifest the truth to us individually in "various" ways (or even a combo!) I also like the part about doing your best (progressing in life) vs not making your mark (Being the "best" you can be - e.g. - Jordan Petersen Speech). That's a good way to look at things (for ones "life mission). Very good truths in this! Wish you the best. I know a lot of people are leaving the church, but I believe the LDS faith teaches many truths (through the BOM, DC, Restored Gospel) etc that bring more enlighten (variety of truths) to helps out a variety of people + ways (which is good). I think the 'biggest" struggle now is not so much the doctrine - but it's more of a clash of traditional mindset / culturalism (which may not always be right for everyone) and is changing (but the Gospel and its basics don't change) Which is what Jesus taught. I am grateful for the restored gospel + its ordinances + temple though (that's something no church can offer). If you want to see a good non-denominational show though - check out the Chosen! Okay thanks and God Bless :)

Speaking as someone who's maybe not had the most success with the Moroni's challenge approach of knowing whether or not the Book of Mormon is true might I suggest that there is another way to know that it is true. And that is to act as if it were already true and see if this way of seeing the world makes you feel better and gives you more light.

Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves-It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.- Alma 32:28

It sounds to me like you are describing how to figure out if the book contains good advice. I think my and Kierkegaard would agree with you on that. But good advice and truth aren’t the same thing. In my opinion, a book making historical claims can’t be verified that way.

This is getting very woo woo. I don’t understand why it’s important that we rearrange our thoughts to accommodate any ideas that are dogmatic by design just to transform them into something that is antithetical to the original meaning?!

Please don't compare Joseph Smith to Dostoevsky again! I don't know why that annoyed me so much, the originality of thought articulated by Dostoevsky and the idea laundering of Joseph Smith maybe need their own landscape so they don't infect each other.

What didn’t you like about it? They had both written about characters sneaking into a place at night to murder a person because they thought it would be the best thing for more people, so I thought it was fun. Have you seen that video yet?
