I admire your capacity to both speak plainly and to aptly move accordingly. It's taken much time for me to conceive of Hogan's motion. Inso far as his pattern doesn't resemble yours, I can appreciate how fluidity can be manifest in myriad forms. Your easy and lazy mode is an enchantment for sure. It's a blessing to be exposed to your creditable offerings. Thanks to you and your sidekick missus. THOM BLINN

I'm not a senior, (I'm 38) but I have knackered myself through football and rugby injuries. I'm not able to really plant my feet into the ground and twist my torso up tight, certainly not for a whole round of golf. I've read Brian Sparks book, it's a great read and I'm really starting to use your style of swing very well. The main thing I've struggled with is oddly enough belief. I still have to convince myself that I will hit the ball well with comparatively a lot of movement. But if you trust it, it works beautifully. You just naturally do whatever you need to do to strike the ball absolutely clean.

Choose commit to at least 6 rounds of golf and keep a record of your score and compare it to previous rounds with your old method, this will give feedback that ultimately can change our belief. Be really interested to read how you get on 😀

Absolutly agry with you about X factor. I tell more X factor and separation is the most popular compensation for players and teachers witch don’t understand powers of foots, knees , hips and how there effects and helps upper body forces. You can of corse play with the compensations , but this is the main problem for so many injuries in golf. You swing is not only for senior golfers. This is the correct way to full body swing.

Regarding my advice below. Any senior with knee problems; this may not suit them at all and your system would probably work best for them. I love the way you teach and so please do not take offense to my modifying it a bit and keeping my lead foot down throughout my swing. There are no deliberate hands or wrists manipulation and The Vs of the grip of both hands must be pointing to the trail shoulder in order for this Stack and Tilt to work. I know Stack and tilt are nasty words for most golf professional teachers; but I think it has some merits in a senior swing as described below and continues your rhythmic flowing of the golf swing Cheers

Julian, I've been learning the Easiest Swing all winter. At 72, I no longer can do the X Factor, not that I was really able to do it in earlier years either. And at 5'8" I'm certainly not tall. Anyway, just wanted to say that learning the "Dance to Golf" has been the best lesson for my game. Can't wait to take it to the course this summer. Thanks for your help!

Hello Julian - thanks for the videos. I have had two hip operations in less than a year. It was very difficult for me to play golf again and I actually contemplated giving this wonderful game up for good. Then about three months ago I came across your videos. I’ve been Practicing the “la dance to golf.” And I have no discomfort. I can’t wait to get out to the range and Hit some golf balls. Do you have any videos on how you start your downswing? Because your entire swing seems like one simple move. I hope your swing works for me. I just wanted to get in touch with you And thank you and your father for developing this wonderful “back- saving” swing. Best wishes, Pete

Excellent video Julian! I am trying hard to adopt your swing especially since I have chronic lower back & neck issues. The biggest challenge for me thus far is slowing down my swing tempo and using lighter grip pressure. It's slow going but getting a bit better with lots of practice.
@JulianMellor3 жыл бұрын
Relax, allow your lead ankle to move freely with clubhead speed at impact and I’m sure you’ll be fine 👍
@kellymiller78593 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Also probably the biggest challenge for me with my swing is following through with full release? I am thinking maybe too much tension and tight grip pressure is causing this especially with wedges? Can't seem to get away from the above 7 grip pressure? Julian how you have mastered a 2 grip pressure is simply amazing which I bet 90% of golfers cannot do.

Hi Julian in your demonstration of the X factor your trail knee is clearly held flexed with most certainly prevents the body from rotating back and forth. So wouldn't it be better to keep your weight now a little more on your lead foot by simply allowing your trail knee to un flex as your lead knee flexes on the back swing; and, then on the downswing; your trail knee to flex; while your lead knee un flexes ? It will feel weird because your lead shoulder will turn down more as your lead knee flexes and your trail knee un flexes; placing more weight on your lead foot at the top of your backswing. This way as seniors we will not be picking up our lead foot at all on our back swing as we are already in a perfect position to fire from our rights side on the downswing. Just a thought. I tried it and I no longer am concern about my lead foot off the ground at all at the start of my downswing. And I have more consistent results now. Cheers

Thank you Julian! Last year I was tense and over thinking every swing. Yesterday my father and I played a round using this relaxed method and every shot was where I wanted it to go! Distance was far enough also for not using extra power. Request: can you make a video performing the swing using a driver, iron, and a wedge? Just to see how the flow goes. Great instructions and this definitely isn't just for seniors. I'm 40 and wish I learned this years ago 👍

Hi Julian I have just started the easiest swing as I'm a 50 Yr old golf with lower back issues, but I keep thinning the ball, especially on chip shots, would you recommend a change in ball position? Thanks Martyn
@JulianMellor4 жыл бұрын
Hi Martyn, I would pay attention to two things, shoulder tension, are they remaining relaxed throughout the swing, are you shifting your weight correctly through impact, often golfers stay on their back foot for too long through impact. I highly recommend that you video your swing and watch it back , hope this helps a little , Julian

When getting fitted for clubs best suited for this swing, is the standard wrist to floor fitting methodology appropriate? Or should clubs be a little longer for the slightly upright posture?
@JulianMellor5 жыл бұрын
We prefer golfers to stand a little taller at set up, so it is possible that clubs should be a little longer depending on your height

Julian Mellor Easiest Swing Golf Coach Thanks for the reply. I have one other question, and I have looked through your videos but can’t find the video...do you suggest an open stance to help promote a turn/follow through? Thanks again.
@JulianMellor5 жыл бұрын
No, if anything a closed stance helps you strike the ball from the inside, an open stance encourages an out to in swing path

I recently saw martin Chuck of Rotary swing.com,which is similar to x factor teaching an 80 year old man,he told him to cross his arms over his chest and turn to his right while keeping his left heel on the ground.I could see he was struggling.I gave it the thumbs down and said oooh that looks painful,that.s for the young athlete.I got a prompt reply saying he,s an orthopaedic surgeon and should know if his hip hurts or not,S.J.

Hi. I have an outside of the box question. If absence of tension is the ideal, has it ever been tested with the shaft actually resting on top of the shoulder at the top of the backswing and then finishing resting on the lead shoulder at the conclusion of the downswing? Fuller turn, tension free, and such but I wonder if one can effectively strike the ball in terms of accuracy and distance that way.
