I used to do studio cartage for ML. Not only is he a tone monster. Not only is he a searing guitarist with a unique style and phrasing but he is a humble, friendly and accessible guy. A real gentleman. AND he can write music like this.

5.07- 5.24; one of the greatest drum breaks in music history! Vinnie got better and better over the next 30 years in many ways, but he was at his most free and creative in the late 70s and the 80s.
@Adolfo_drummer4 жыл бұрын
If you listen to the melody and rhythm guitar, you can clearly hear that this tune was intended as a shuffle/ternary vibe kinda thing. But our boy Vinnie, heard and applied a rather angular, binary feel and boldly recorded a friggin 7-minute-long polyrhythm!! See? That’s clever music, not complicated for the sake of being complicated. This is why we love you, Vinnie. Genius.

GOD GEESE!!! This song is so ADDICTIVE!!! That's "The Mike Landau Sound". UNIQUE! Is like a Lukather-Van Halen-Henderson sound. MAN! Who needs a name when you have THAT SOUND!!??!! .... AND Vinnie Colaiuta on drums! MY GOODNESS...

This might be the greatest and most mind bending fusion jam track I've ever heard. Great to nod along with and count to 6, you can feel the slow and fast 2 against 3 beats falling into place.
