There are more than 350,000 migrant domestic workers supporting families and homes in Hong Kong. But are they themselves being supported enough?
In his talk, Myles Ng shares the challenges faced by migrant domestic workers, his experiences growing up with and supporting them, and how we can all help.
Myles is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of HelpBridge, a mobile information-sharing app platform for migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong. Replete with information on legal rights, financial management, local know-how, and personal well-being, HelpBridge offers a digital community of 15 nonprofit and community organizations, and has helped more than 1500 migrant domestic workers get their questions answered.
Raised by a domestic worker in the Philippines since he was a child, Myles moved to Hong Kong to pursue a degree in Economics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and understand issues in migration. Myles has since led strategic youth development initiatives at numerous nonprofits, worked at world-class companies, and supported disruptive tech startups in Southeast Asia. After learning about the digital literacy challenges faced by domestic workers, as a community outreach volunteer at HELP for Domestic Workers, he co-founded HelpBridge.
