Jerry does deserve more respect for helping put the teams together, however he was being really petty by breaking the team bc he didn't like Phil Jackson anymore. Like MJ said, if we're not performing at a championship level then you have the right to break up the team but let that be proven on the court, don't take that opportunity away from us bc you don't like our coach. Jerry got caught up thinking he was equivalent to a player plus a coach, when all he does is help pick players and cuts checks. I'm sure MJ doesn't hate him he just hated that Jerry wanted to break up that organization out of spite.
@dusk6159

But that's the correct part that everybody knows, and puts forward to the extreme (the very extreme, that booing put distaste on the whole dynasty era instead of just being violence on one man, what a wreck instead of being an occasion of luster). The other correct part that needs to be taken into account as well, so Krause and his work, and the credit he should get for that, is either unknown or buried compared to the weight of MJ's reasons (and MJ's pull) during the controversies on the late part of it all.

The triangle had many features, it was designed to space the floor and move the ball, in those days you couldn't play zone defense, so it allow Jordan, Pippen, Kukoc to go one and one with defenders, bulls only needed good and smart center or power forward but not dominant one to run it. Now I have read stories that Krause, Phil Jackson and Tex Winter always speculated with each other at how the offense would look like with a dominant center like Shaq, David Robinson, etc. I think Jerry Krause knew he missed a trick and he knew it, he should had signed Shaq as a free agent, traded Pippen, (he did not look good or like playing with dominant bigs in Houston and standing in the corner waiting for 3's), traded Longley, possibly traded Rodman to make the money work, Longley was paid good, Rodman got paid good after the 72-10 season, someone else could had renegotiated Pippens contract after they traded for him, the resentment would had been much less, Kukoc would move into the starting lineup to offer spacing, shooting and assists, Krause would have gotten shooters, defenders and big bodies to round up that team, that team could win next 5 titles.

This is silly. Krause was booed for a number of reasons that had nothing to do with the good work he accomplished as GM of the Bulls. - He tore down the most impactful dynasty in modern sports history for no other reason than his own personal ego, to prove that he could win titles without Michael Jordan. This is well documented and an incontrovertible fact. He was PILLORIED in Chicago for two straight seasons (1997 and 1998) because of the media firestorm that he and Reinsdorf were going to break up the Bulls while they were still winning titles. - Coming out and saying "Players don't win championships, organizations do" was also an ego-driven statement which pissed everyone off. Of course organizations draft and trade and so on, but as we've seen every year, if the players don't show up and deliver, the organization looks idiotic. It's the players who make the organization look "brilliant" for the moves they make, or make them look "stupid" when they don't deliver the results. See the Pelicans with Zion Williamson when people were openly questioning if Ja should've gone #1 (before the whole guns stuff), the Bulls only a year after they brought in Demar Derozan, Portland when Scoot Henderson has looked terrible this season, etc - He drafted Pippen, Horace Grant, BJ Armstrong, elevated Phil Jackson and Tex Winter from nobodies into the head coach and part of the coaching staff, traded for Dennis Rodman and Bill Cartwright, signed Toni Kukoc, brought in Steve Kerr, Ron Harper, Luc Longley, and more. He did a TON of work that panned out well for the Bulls before and during their title runs. But let's be realistic. Without Jordan, the Bulls also never won anything despite Krause's attempts. Which means it really is the players that ultimately deliver. Krause's problem wasn't his talent as a GM. It was that his ego and quest for recognition made him tear down the good thing while it was rolling along. Him tearing down that dynasty and then failing to build it up to anything remotely competitive is why the fans hated him then and continued to hate him years afterward. The Last Dance highlighted what has been a truth since the 90s. That his widow was booed was sad, but honestly if you're even the slightest bit aware of Bulls history it's also not surprising. If Krause had built up another winner, he wouldn't be reviled in Chicago. It's no different than LeBron being hated in Cleveland after "The Decision" and only having that stain absolved when he came back and won the chip in 2016. Krause never got another chip, and never even got close. That's why, and for no other reason.

The man is no longer with us, so its rather off to go after a guy who cant defend himself. But we do have to say this, he did do his job and there is no Bulls Dynasty without Krause. The breakup was just god ugly and it shows that the fans still have feelings about it today. My take is let the man rest in peace and its been over 20 years, lets just celebrate the good times. It dont gotta be negative and Pippen had probably the most hatred for Krause out of them all, he still found a way to move on, so the fans can too.

lol basketball genius....are you serious? A child could put a team around Jordan and win championships. The only thing Krause did was have the sense to draft Jordan when he had the chance.....everything else that happened after was essentially just a product of letting Jordan develop and become an unstoppable force.....because when you have that level of player all you need to do is get yourself an All Star or two, like ANY AS level player and you will win championships. It's not rocket science and Krause is certainly not a genius, in any way shape or form, for being lucky to have Jordan on his team.

I think Krause deserves credit for what he did to help build a winning franchise but let's not also forget he tore it down too. The Last Dance clearly stated how Krause didn't care how they finished. They could go 82-0. It was it for them. He never let them have the opportunity to win or lose again. Most sport franchises don't break up winning teams. They either replace the pieces and keep the core to sustain winning, or the team starts to lose, and the rebuilding starts. This team was still winning. Plus, Krause had that Belichick philosophy and wanted to win a championship without his star player. Never happened for either one. The front office can help put together a winning team but it's the coaches and players who actually go out and execute and win. That like performing your job at optimal performance for 5 years and your manager decides to rotate you that job for someone else to see if they can duplicate your performance. I think had Krause actually achieved winning more championships without Michael that would have helped. The classic worker vs. management clash.
