Gorgeous. Also, children love staring at wallpaper patterns whilst lying bed, especially when they're unwell. I remember staring at my fancy wallpaper for ages at a time up close, facing into the wall until the repetitive, detailed shapes almost became hallucinogenic, wilfully and accidentally forming into entire other objects and scenes, sweeping my imagination along entirely. So many of these hand-drawn wall coverings are absolutely exquisite. The only colourway I cannot go for is black and white florals, for two reasons: 1) It reminds me of hideous 'feature walls' done with flocked wallpaper when a tacky housewife renovates the council house; her finishing touch in the uninspired, dopey hellscape almost always being a wooden sign above the mantlepiece saying 'family' and love' and in the bathroom these wooden signs spell out 'bathe', 'dream' or 'relax' (and in the kitchen 'eat', 'cook' and again 'family'-- family is important, they often tattoo a laundry list of names down their arms or on their neck, complete with birthdates...Jayden, Kayleigh, Dave written in plain upper case letters like a prison tat). The second aesthetic issue I have with floral black & white wallpaper is that they instantly transport me to 1980's bathrooms. Black, white and pink angry little flowers suffocating me...the walls are closing in, ach, with white chiffon ruffled drapes like in a doll's house and blush pink furry toilet mats. Oh and little bars of not-to-be-used fancy soap in dishes and porcelain bowls of pot pourri in the window sill :D I wonder what upsets other people out there aesthetically, and WHY? I'm talking associations that will never go away etc. Can't be helped, can it? There's no arguing in matters of style and taste so it is said. But we both know that's bollocks because oh what fun it is, despite how futile we know the endeavour to be from the outset. ;)
