I've cried my eyes out. ... I wish I have a supportive parents. ... when young I had a dream to become a pilot so my parents and big brothers and sisters were always telling me that's impooosible especially for a girl. ..and I believed that they love me and want the best for me.....now I'm 24 I've studied biology and it's something great that I really love but I'm not gonna lie. .."every single time I see an airplane or someone introduces themselves as a pilot I cry like 5 years old me when they told her that she dreamed bigger than she deserve''.... and even now with my master in molecular biology they see it as something bigger than expected and they tell me to stop and not to think about doctorate. .... I'm the only one in my family that studied in college and have a diploma I just too lately realized that they didn't love me, they just were scared about what I can do and they can't... I don't have even my freedom to move from the house...and I don't want to get married .... I want my dream, I want freedom I always dream about someone that kidnap me and take me to a faaaar place so I can study whatever I want or just put me in a laboratory so I can help in solving a little problem for this wourld.... I just want to help people with the intelligence and the energy and the passion I have now ..... I'm slowly losing my feelings and becoming a machine..... I'm faithful in God more than to commit suicide but also I'm losing it slowly, .....the idea is always in my head please, someone kidnap me and take me away ....

I cried too... My dream when I was kid and still to this day is to be a successful artist and writer. I was told from a young age that that kind of life will only bring you poverty. So I took the "safe route." I went into the pharmacy world, and I hated it. I loved the science behind it, but I hated the greed of others that play a major role in it. I currently get to work in a greenhouse though, and found that I also have a green thumb. Just recently though, I've been writing a short story once a week.... And hope to finish a novel that I'm currently working on. So my point is... At the end of the day you're the one who has to live with yourself and the choices you make. So make your choice, go for your doctorate if that's something you really want to do. Take flying lessons!! Stop selling yourself short. I don't even know you... But I believe in you, because if you want something more than anything, it may not come easy, but you should still do it!

Being a parent is about encouraging and supporting your children in things they enjoy doing not just what you enjoy doing. Stop being a selfish parent. Children shouldn't have to sacrifice so that you can have the life you want instead parents should make the sacrifice so that your children can have the life they want. I hope any parents reading this learn from it

I think there is a missing piece. I was exactly the kid that would take apart things and sometimes break stuff. Engineering runs in my family. My dad was very patient but made it a point that if you create a mess or break something, you need to clean up your own mess. It is a natural part of learning. You start to calculate not just success, but how to lower the damage from failure, and also really think of consequences. This was NEVER a limiting factor. In fact it made me great at sustainable engineering and not being wasteful and thinking of the impact whatever I do has. Think of the Nuclear bomb. Sure you can create it, but ever stop to think of what happens if your creation creates a mess and how you would solve it? You are responsible. My dad said before he died, "Create things you will stand your name by. That includes family and anything else you create. Also own up to any messes you make. Avoid them as possible but if something does go sideways. do everything you can to clean it up. Leave the world a better place and don't expect others to clean up your messes".

Totally agree with you! I’m past 60, raised 4 children and I totally agree with you. Teaching children to clean up their messes helps them to understand how to take personal responsibility for their actions and how to build resilience. In my experience it did not limit their capacity to succeed. They were much better prepared to deal with the consequences of their choices and learn valuable lessons from their mistakes.

Thank you for writing my exact thoughts trough the video. THAT'S consequences, and I did think that it was missing in this video. But other than that, the music, the message, everything, just showed such a beautiful message to parents.. I'm SO glad that I got to do so much experimenting when I was a kid. Mainly because my parents didn't really have the time for "harsh discipline".. I will say, that I did get "proper consequences" for an experiment that went out of control. We were experimenting with fire. Lighting dried up bushes on fire, and stomping it out with winter-boots. We (my brother and me) were learning what fire does, and how to put it out, etc. etc. etc... But one place.. we didn't put it out completely... And it caught fire in bigger bushes, and the dry grass, and out of nowhere, the whole hill was on fire. It had gotten out of control. And we HAD to go to our parents for help, even crying while doing so, because we KNEW we weren't allowed to play with fire.... All ended well. Just a patch of land got burned.. As a punishment, we were made to sit and look for any fire potential in the remains, for 4-5 hours. (An eternity as a kid). I think this consequence was quite good. If you could think of a better one, inspired by your comment, I'd love to hear =) Thanks for reading. And thanks for your comment again.

I partially agree with the concept of this video. I am also against yelling at kids but still there needs to be an order in the house. Kids should be kids but still there must be some limits. We can't just ignore and let the child do everything he/she wants just because "he/she is learning". What if he wants to play with a knife?? Will you let him cut himself to learn that it is dangerous? Following rules is also part of learning as we live in an organized society and not in caos. As parents we should know the interests of our children and provide them with appropriate and safe environment so they can do stuff and learn.

I think poverty and overwhelm really do play a role... it doesn't mean you don't encourage them but you need to find them a safe place to explore that isn't necessarily inside a semi-delapidated home the completely exhausted and overworked mom can barely keep going. The solution is quite simple: a backyard, a garage or even in the bathtub....

Parents really should learn that when they shout at their kids, that breaks their character. There is nothing wrong with failure or not knowing things, so you want to see what will happen , therefore you try it, and maybe it will be good maybe bad. Edit: I just wanted to say that we as humans, we are curious to know things, and that's why we try... If you are a mother or a father reading this, trust me you don't want to ever shout at your child and tell him that he did this wrong, how could you. There is nothing wrong with failure, because we are all human.. From my pov as a 15 years old, when one of my parents shout at me im just like why? Am i really a failure? What im trying to say here is that this fact breaks their character and would never give them hope by any means.. Thanks yall for reading, hopefully you have an amazing life😊

I don't have kids. But I cried at this. It was beautiful. I have a 18 month old nephew.. My brother is really into science, and want's his kid to learn. He's AMAZING for his age.. I'm just amazed that he can count to 15. And not even 2 years old yet... I'll have to show this clip to them (My brother and his girlfriend). It's probably something they already know inside. But this puts such a clarity on the message of KEEPING the curiosity alive. And fuel that curiosity. The only thing missing in this clip, is the responsibility over the mess it made. Sent to your room, is not giving responsibility. Yelled at, is not giving responsibility. I'm not QUITE sure how I'd implement the consequences. But let's say the mother said: "What are we going to have our food on now?"... or "It would maybe be smart to clean up those shards.. We could step on them and hurt ourselves".. I'm honestly not sure what would be best... Open for suggestions. But reading a couple of comments here, I see that many share that opinion. As an example: an experimental kid can invent the atom-bomb. But MUST also be made aware of the consequences it could have. They would be directly responsible.. But one shouldn't deter them from inventing the atom-bomb. Because that lead to nuclear reactors.. A fantastic power-source.. With good, also possibly comes bad.

Well. From what I understand here... The first step in good parenting will be to let your kid feel comfortable enough to ask you questions. And always have them know that before they plan to do something, to think it through, And then pass it by you. That way it can inspire a discussion. There wouldn't have been an issue if she'd been aware of his plan. Because she could've 1) Brought him outside to do it And 2) Supervised him in case of an injury. Communication is key!

As a young adult, I really want children. It gives me not only the opportunity to give them the greatest life they can ever hope for, but it’s also another opportunity to relive my childhood with them. I’m very lucky to have wonderful parents and grow up under their roof. They can be strict at times, but it was fair. They didn’t forget to be parents. In plain hindsight, my childhood was wonderful, and I would do anything to relive it for at least one day. I’m passionate for a lot of things, and I would love to pass it on to my future children.

It's easy to get upset and yell at a child, but when you realize that the thing that wants to be something amazing in life is right in front of you. Kids are exploring new things everyday and like a scientist being creative is like being a kid in art class. Making messy decisions and making mistakes is one thing that makes something worth the fun. I'm a big kid that loves dressing up and like every kid that enjoys something, its worth enjoying when you're having a wonderful time doing it. Let kids know that they are amazing and they can be exploring different places of our lives.

Never cage your child's mind. Let them in time understand the constraints of reality. But until it's time to tell them to grow up and take some responsibility and build them up as good adults, let them learn and explore as a child first and as much as possible. Guide a mind, dont dictate it. Your child one day will need to live without you, the end goal is to help them envision a world that they can prosper in, eventually, without your help. What sort of science experiment is dumping literally all their toys out pulling all the clothes out of their drawers and then moving on to the movies? To me this seems like terrorisim.

It is terrorism, when you’re trying to get out a good message, maybe don’t make the kid destroy the house and then try to justify it by saying “he’s just a kid”

The first thing you want to make sure before your kids do experiments is to make sure they do it outside. I don’t care if they want to play and do stuff but do it outside.

“Life consists of two days, one for you and one against you. So when it’s for you don’t be proud or reckless, when it’s against you be patient, for both days are test for you”. When you’re not happy with your life, always think that someone is happy simply because you exist. I’m glad I read this message. I hope that you find your peace. Take care my friend .

And the increased chance of delinquency, crime, drugs and jail time. If you could only have 1 parent, it would wiser to choose a father over a mother. I watched a TEDx Talk about divorce and when asked the majority of women didn't know what their kid's favorite superheroes were or what super power they'd wish they had, or their favorite color, but almost all of the fathers could answer.

I’m only 2 minutes and have seen enough. I don’t like picking sides I like seeing both perspectives. So, I do agree with the mom, he shouldn’t have been doing something like that in a kitchen, go out in the yard or set a place in the house he can do stuff like that without burning it the house down. I know if I did something like this in a kitchen at that age I’d be under my room. And also, kid had talent and imagination, rare stuff that needs to be honed and treated, you don’t want him going to school one day getting bullied for being different and takes red and purple pills from the emo kid. Now for the mother, mom was on the right path saying “You can’t be doing stuff like this.” Sorry to tell you but your a kid you can’t do whatever you want whenever you want you got rules that you got to follow to prepare for the real world. She shouldn’t have yelled though that was unnecessary. “HES A KID WHAT DO YOU EXPECT.” Your right, anybody who constantly complains about their children should blame themselves for having them you made your own life worse. Y’all people are so quick to pick sides.
