But I really can’t stand the idiots who “believe” the news, and think they have the right to JUDGE people as being weird/paedophiles etc, from untruth most of the time. Due to my parents crappy genes we got. I have no choice but to be low carb. My metabolism health can’t take carbs. Last we heard younger brother abandoned the family 7 years ago, anyhow last we heard he was 300 pounds. Both he and I have battled our weight. Lost 70 + pounds as a teenager at 15. Have gained and lost since then, now my mom’s health and stress has caused me to gain 50 pounds and stubborn weight to get off. Insulin resistance……doing keto / carnivore as best as I can. I have a keto breath machine my number this morning was 9 which I am burning 🔥 fat for fuel slow but I have room to go higher. Using a ton of coconut oil even ordered coconut oil capsules. Upping omega 3 fish capsule supplements to get extra DHA INTO my brain. 🧠 Brain hasn’t worked all my life. Still can’t drive a car. Almost 40. In ketosis starting point. No sugar or carbs in diet. Not going diabetic like my parents. Only 40 **39 *** 😢😢😢hell no.

The key takeaways from Dr. Georgia Ede's perspective on diet and mental health are: 1. **Negative Impact of Processed Foods:** Consumption of processed meats, sugary drinks, and refined carbohydrates is harmful to both physical and mental health. These foods contribute to inflammation, oxidative stress, and insulin resistance in the brain. 2. **Importance of a Healthy Diet:** A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins is recommended for better health and longevity. Such a diet positively influences brain chemistry and overall well-being. 3. **Dangers of Modern Diet:** The modern diet, high in ultra-processed foods and unhealthy fats like refined vegetable oils, is linked to an epidemic of mental health disorders. These foods undergo extensive chemical processing and are detrimental to brain health. 4. **Myth of Superfoods:** Commonly touted superfoods like blueberries, red wine, and dark chocolate do not have the magical health benefits often claimed. Adding them to an unhealthy diet does not significantly improve brain health. 5. **Benefits of the Ketogenic Diet:** The ketogenic diet, which is high in fats, moderate in protein, and low in carbohydrates, can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the brain. It stabilizes blood sugar and insulin levels and provides an alternative energy source for the brain. 6. **Exercise and Muscle Health:** Regular exercise and maintaining muscle health are crucial for improving metabolism and insulin sensitivity. 7. **Personalized Dietary Strategies:** Different levels of dietary strategies can be adopted depending on individual metabolic health and goals. Personalizing the diet is key to its effectiveness and sustainability. 8. **Critique of Nutrition Epidemiology:** Dr. Ede criticizes the field of nutrition epidemiology for its reliance on biased and unreliable data, advocating for more scientifically rigorous research. 9. **Empowerment Through Knowledge:** Understanding the impact of diet on health and mental well-being is empowering. Dr. Ede encourages readers to make informed choices about their diet and lifestyle. 10. **Holistic Approach to Diet:** The focus should be on a diet that nourishes, protects, and energizes the brain, emphasizing the importance of avoiding antinutrients and refined carbohydrates and maintaining healthy glucose and insulin levels.

The Mediterranean diet does have, in many modern cases, a high carbohydrates content nowadays, since flour is relatively cheap, but most persons use more of the foods devoid of this, and I have been raised on lesser dependency on "pasta" plates, and at 86 years in a few months, the family doctor wishes that his 60 year old patients would be as healthy as myself. The diet MUST vary during the week, Using less processed foods. Also in the USA, that I have visited often, I see very few that "walk", not even getting out from the car when ordering their McDonalds and then eating it. I try to walk for up to two hours a day.

I hate meat, would be a vegetarian but can’t quite do it. I eat some chicken and seafood. I have kefir for breakfast that helps with my gut issues. I do have a glass of wine and eat some chocolate. I like what you said in last part of interview. I don’t think I can do a 😅keto diet but will cut back on foods that are anti nutrient and eat more whole foods. Had a look at the keto diet and a lot of the foods on it I already eat. I prefer kefir to yogurt but when I do have plain Greek yogurt, blueberries come in handy to flavour it. I do have cream in my one coffee a day, drink green tea or lemon water, all unsweetened. I do occasionally have bread and pasta. I’ve been lazy so I’ll ramp up my fruit and veggies. I don’t like salmon or any of the oily fish but sometimes have other types or prawns, oysters, crayfish too. In winter I sometimes have porridge. I also eat butter. Live in New Zealand so our cows are grass fed. No Starbucks for me, it’s a small double shot flat white when I go to a cafe, we have the best coffee. I do eat eggs and avocado too.

I go into a lot of detail about this in the book but the short answer is that ketogenic diets almost always improve multiple markers of metabolic health: triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, blood sugar levels, appetite, inflammation, insulin levels, and blood pressure. The only test that sometimes looks "worse" on a ketogenic diet is LDL cholesterol. LDL is really complicated...Look up the work of Dr. David Diamond--he has some great videos on the subject of LDL

I'm very scared of frozen blueberries. Where have they been grown, are they properly washed (from 3rd world countries for example) etc etc ???

Does she cover preteen picky eater nutrition? I know shakes are not Whole Foods, but if your child refuses meat textures/flavors, what suggestions can be implemented? Thank you!!! Great interview and I’m getting g the book!❤️

Nobody is hungry anymore today. That’s why we can afford to eat pleasure foods. My nephew is going to the kinder-garden in the woods now. When he’s back he is *hungry* and he will eat the furniture 😅

We didn't have choices for dinner. We ate what was prepared. I hated liver and spinach and green peppers. But I had to eat it.

Maybe try Magnesium glycinate and perhaps have her thyroid levels checked?

No gallbladder. Carnivore diet is impossible. Sure would love to hear your solution to that.

Bile salts taken before meal. Gall bladder removal is mostly done for all the wrong reasons. Talk to a Naturopath DR, not a white coat DR goggle pill pushing sawbone

I've read people without a gallbladder use ox bile supplements.

Beans, beans good for the heart. The more you eat, the better you tolerate them . Your body adjust to them and you become less gassy.

Thank You as this is a real game-changer KZbin information video on Longevity and anti-diabetic food and lifestyle plan to implement. Good Dr. Advice but I will respond to some of her comments soon. It is late now for me in Phuket Thailand. Still, after listening word for word from start to finish of this interesting nutritional lifestyle podcast video I will return to this timeline thread to share my experience and research on this subject. Kindest Regards to Holistic Chef Barry Anderson co-founder of the Garden Villa Phuket Thai Vacation Retirement Retreat of the Peral island of South East Asia. I really enjoyed and learned new things from Dr. Geargia Ede. I do not do Mediterranean but I do BLUE ZONE Flexitarian with much diversity that works for my life. @BarryAnderson 3 hours ago THE ABSOLUTE WORST BREAKFAST CHOICE OF YOUR LIFE description is as follows ...... @728huey 3 months ago So apparently it's cereal and orange juice. One thing to remember about the cereal and orange juice we consume today compared to what our grandparents and great-grandparents ate back in the day. Back then cereals didn't contain high fructose corn syrup and preservatives, and orange juice back then was squeezed by hand. Also, the grains used to make our wheat and corn flours are treated with glyphosate (Roundup) which destroys the gut biome. In addition, the orange juice sold in supermarkets has been seriously adulterated, often squeezed and juiced at the factory and placed into huge vats that are vacuum sealed, thus degrading nearly all the nutritional value from the juice. When it is processed and packaged into containers they add sugar, orange essential oil, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) to the juice to make it drinkable again. So breakfast is already highly processed, and it's the consumption of this adulterated food that causes inflammation in the body and causes cuts in the arteries that scar up.

I think it's important to recognize the uniqueness of individuals. I don't think it makes sense that only one diet is for every person. Although I do acknowledge that the ketogenic diet is beneficial for the brain when a person has mental health concerns or inflammation.

True to a certain extent, but go back to our hunter-gatherer ancestors and you'll find they all ate the same - mostly meat - diets.

Plus chronic fatigue and brain fog are connected…….remember that part In Superman Ottis and Lex Luther …..he is walking thru the train tunnel…..Lex sees him on the TV monitor and says ……IT IS A MYSTERIOUS THAT BRAIN CAN GENERATE ENOUGH POWER TO KEEP THOSE LEGS MOVING. OTTIS wasn’t the smartest penny in the can so that is what he meant. Brain energy loss goes along with chronic fatigue and every dr almost I have seen has been clueless to help me. One dr 👨⚕️ I was with almost 13 years couldn’t help alleviate my brain fog any ……functional medicine too……I have had to research my brain off to find answers. Her book has been one of my resources.
