YES! I started doing acrylic nails on myself when I was 15 and didn’t have any info on allergies and none of the “how to” videos told me about them! I overtime developed horrible allergies to multiple nail products and unfortunately I can only use a very select few products now! My skin bubbles up and actually falls off my fingertips leaving them raw. It is so important to get this message out there Suzie, thank you x
@meatsweats11844 жыл бұрын
hi! i developed the exact same allergy as you described, could i ask what products do you recommend? i miss my nails so much🥺🥺
@Anaira14 жыл бұрын
meat sweats hey! The products I use now are mainly all the brand indigo nails. However it’s important to note that sometimes I can be sensitive to these too! But for the most part they are great and I’ve been using them for years with mostly no problems. I recommend getting a gel polish and seeing how they work for you. Be carful to never touch your skin x

How do you avoid it? I have little itchy red bumps around the nail beds even if the uncured gel doesn't touch my skin:/
@Anaira14 жыл бұрын
Dory Explory this is exactly what happens to me. To be honest I had to take a break for a few months and when I went back to them, I only used gel polish (no extensions) just so that the time I was exposed would be limited. I’m really careful in the products I use now and the placement. The main advice I would give is, if you feel that itching coming on DONT ITCH IT. I know it’s hard but if you don’t itch it, the rash doesn’t spread underneath the skin and any areas that are infected will be kept to one spot. Any of the cheap gels I used to use years ago from aliexpress/amazon drive my hands crazy and I’m guessing it’s because they have MMA in them which is very harmful and actually banned in a lot of countries. Try to use good products and invest in a good collection.

I think I randomly developed a resin allergy. I don't know if I got some on my eyelid by mistake or if it was from the fumes of UV resin curing (same stuff as gel polish) but I woke up the other day with super swollen eyelids. It has to have been the resin! So, be very careful and clean up any gel polish right away!

I dont have issues with the product I have at home, but I've been so careful at home to never touch my skin or to clean excess product with disposable cotton pads or with a brush wet with alcohol. Thank you for your advice. I am 70 but when we went into lockdown I decided that I would be bored (I didn't know HOW bored) and bought the CND shellac kit for beginners. Of course I sometimes would be a bit shaky but that was OK because it was only me. Little did I know that the lady in one of shops noticed and asked how I was managing to get a manicure in this lockdown. So even though you think nobody will notice, somebody will. Our salons open up on Monday in UK. I can imagine the relief on both sides. Love watching your videos.

Thank you so much for bringing awareness to allergies Susie! I am a beginner, not a professional but I done all my research online and learnt all about allergies before I even started practicing to do nails, I see so many ladies on social media at the moment doing their own nails and so many have product cured to their skin, acrylic, gel, polygel, it really makes me uncomfortable because I try to explain allergies and so on to help them but people just brush it off because it's "boring" information and they just want to get into the fun bit, so thank you for mentioning it in your video! Hello Suzie, I have recently found your channel, and I’m hooked. Maybe Suzie or someone else can help me with a few questions: 1. How “old” can you use gel polish before it’s no good? Currently have a few that I got for almost two years and noticed it’s been chipping recently. 2. I heard from other vloggers that painting too close to your cuticle is also a reason why it can chip. Is that true? 3. Exactly what grit is recommended to sand your nails to prep for gel polish?
@brendonsforehead49614 жыл бұрын
1. I’d say as long as it’s still good you can use it, if you want to be safe you can use base products that are still good so the color doesn’t touch your nails directly. 2. True if it touches the cuticle bc as your nails grow the polish gets separates so now there’s a chance air will get under it through that un-adhered polish. 3. Not sure but I wouldn’t use something too rough, a buffing file works fine.
@brendonsforehead49614 жыл бұрын
Btw I’m not licensed, just learned it through others and reading lol
@tanqgeorg98304 жыл бұрын
Not licensed but have been doing gel nails for more that 6 years: 1.-if its aliexpress-cheap polish, no more than a year (they start discoloring, bubbles or even get from matt to shiny or opposite) -if its middle class i would say until you see change in the polish (texture, color, smell, viscosity, chunks etc) but be carefull -for the expensive ones i have ones that are more than 3 yo and are fine but the above still applies. -another thing is if you see "dirt" in the polish, i.e a small hair (more than one tho) a fiber or anything that could have gotten in the bottle after multiple uses, thats a good sign that you may consider a new one 2.yes,when gel is cured touching any part of the skin, for the time being it will be okay, but the longer its being worn as the nail grows it will lift, as well as the skin can produce sebum (oil) so that can cause lifting as well. 3.- if the nail is brittle, paper like, and thin i would say 180-220 would be best -if the nail can hold its shape, its not exactly thin or thick you can use 150-180 (even 100) should be okay -for thicc boi nails that are known not to bend easily and are sturdy you can use 80-100-150-180 -in general dont use anything less that 180 on a super thin nail Hope this helps :)

...um...hehe... just realized how many mistakes I have been doing with nail polish... gel polish and nail polish is kinda the same thing when it comes to applying
@lindseyveroneau22154 жыл бұрын
1. I think they last a while, I use mine and there 2-3 yrs old 2. Don't touch cuticle or it'll lift when it cures, they water/oil/day to day will cause it lift/peel prematurely. 3. Until the shine is gone, the shine is the natural oil (I think, I'm not a LNT) so just like you "prime" your wall before paint, this acts as another way for the base gel to really adhere well letting it last for those ~2 weeks. Hope this helps a little! Again, not a professional, just love love love my gel and had learned a few things from trial and error. 💕

Try a different lamp, check the description on the gel bottle and ensure if it's a UV gel then you must use a UV lamp. Or the opposite a LED gel and a LED lamp 😊 that could be the only reason it's not curing properly under the lamp 🤔

Hey Suzie, just a couple of things I learnt about gel, if you cap your free edge it will also assist with chipping. Also when applying do the edge first then put the brush down about 3/5 of the way up the nail, lift, put down again and push up towards the cuticle, will give you a nice even round cuticle. The self leveling is great, what I do is a turn my clients upside down which then assists the apex. Hope this helps 😊 training in SA might be different to where you are.

Last night I used gel glue by myself for the first time and you totally answered the severe itch I had all over my body. 😂 it’s good stuff though, keeps my nails on longer.

Thank you so much for this video! I keep having troubles with my gel manicure and Im even using the same brand base coat, gel polish and top coat, and I still found it starts chipping after like 3 days! My problems usually are that the gel polish is touching the skin I dont wipe it off properly and thats what causes lifting - so your cuticle pusher trick will really help me now 😁. Another and bigger problem is that Im sometimes too lazy with my nail prep, just brush it a bit with a year old file who doesnt file anything anymore 😂😬 and even wipe off the dust with an acetone (oooops😂), and dont even use a dehydrator or primer afterwards. Definitely investing into all of the nail prep products, cuz without them I probably may as well throw my gel polishes in the bin 😂🙈

Heia thanks for all the Great tips :) my gel nails last a 4-5 Days on average I thought it was due to all the chemistry I work with. But am always mixing brands. Will try and stick to one brand and see if I get more days out of them. ☺️ going to fix my nails tomorrow looking forward to it 🐡 have a good day from Christine in Norway 🇳🇴

Thanks for the tip about not using acetone to prep the nail. I will change my routine and hopefully have longer lasting polish.

thank you for this troubleshooting video. I had a wrinkling problem and could not figure out what I did wrong, I was curing and curing but after I was all done, a couple of my nails started to wrinkle and I ended up removing my entire manicure. I did the two coats.

Yes it’s a very frustrating situation. I’ve even had it where I put it on I cured it it looked beautiful the client left and within an hour they came back and it was wrinkled. So it can even wrinkle over time. But less likely. It just means it’s a little bit too thick. It’s a very very particular application
