On cost of living it depends on who you mean. Yes if you’re in your 40s and 50s and not retired yet, moving to the Philippines on 1000 a month is dumb unless you’re a hippy or something. But if you’re retired 1000 will go a lot further in the Philippines (as long as you have savings for emergencies)

A few times you have mentioned using USAA and Navy Federal Credit Union for banking needs. I think your viewer/readers might appreciate other more conventional banking options , rather than those tied to military service. With only about 7% of the American population ever having served in our military.. (Thank You For Your Service!) USAA and Navy Federal are probably not an option for many/most of us. I agree so many videos making it seem like for. Thousand to 1500 you can live like a king. Well that depends on where and how you want to live. I have been to pretty much every Asian country on the planet for a minimum of a month. I don’t want to date until I am settled. I want to travel the country the first year. Here in the states it’s rough doable but you need to be careful with expensive inflation on the rise, houses overpriced, cars getting ridiculously expensive. I live in Florida right now with the weather it helps with my disability so there will be similar. I think I will thrive there especially with my much larger budget then I hear of people living off of there.

Another Great vlog Gio! The one thing I believe is the most important I see, RESPECT the country! You are IN the Philippines and NOT the country you have come from...Stop trying to change the culture to western ways...Yes, the Philippines are beautiful and yes, there is poverty, BUT it's the people that truly make this a beautiful country...I live in the mountains in a province village with my asawa (for 2 years) and see the true culture...It bothers me so many westerners come to the Philippines and try their best to change the people, their partner to be like a western woman...DON'T! That's why many of us LEFT the West because of the women there in the West...At least it is for ME...Just Enjoy the beauty of this country and it's people, remember this 'The essence of life is basics and simplicity...' My quote...smiles Have a Great Day and respect and enjoy the Philippines...Keep bringing these GREAT vlogs out Gio!!! You're the best and tell it like it truly IS!

Why you guys for some reason will not tell other foreigners coming out that foreigners cannot own land. 60/40 is not ownership. They can own a condo 100% percent. Western comes out not interested in knowing the laws or the culture. It’s simple to find other important things that some of guys are willing to share. They can go to GOOGLE put the question in, can foreigners own land in the Philippines. The answer is there. It’s to late when they find out after they put out their money for land a house that doesn’t really own it. Their lady and her family owns it. And depending his relationship with her and the family will decide if he will be kicked out or not. If you are sincerely concerned about their safety and welfare tell them these things. They cannot own land.

And contrary to what most foreigners brlievr... you can NOT rent the lot from your filipina wife. Such contract would easily be void in a court dispute. Unless you rented ftom her BEFORE got married. Meaning the famous 25yr+25yrs lot lease solution... is ppaperthin fragile contracts that could legally be overturned. Which means she CAN kick you out if divorced. And even though you may own the actuall house... its not easy to move a house away from a lot.

Can foreigners open restaurants in the Philippines?
@foreignermakingmoney-phili14589 ай бұрын
Generally you will find issues with working on a tourist visa, therefore risk deportation. Common for foreigners to fund there GF or wifes business which could be a restaurant but will all be in her name and she will take it all if you split up. Philippines is a poor country with most filipios with little money to spend anything but cheap food with little profit margins. The other market is the foreigner western food market. food industry is low barrier to entry and popular business in the philippines nearly as common as sari sari stores. crab mentality is common, if the locals see your popular then they will open similiar businesses to yours close by and under cut you out of business with cheaper labour costs. foreigner's having a business in the philippines is fraught with problems and issues. If you never ran a business before then the philippines may not be the best place to start even if it has a low barrier of entry. Common idea for foreigners to have or foreigners fund/ invest in GF/ wife's restaurant, sari sari store or bar. most go bust and foreigner loses all their money. never invest more than your prepared to lose or can walk away from. Its something that needs considerable consideration, research and due diligence. Some work, some are sucessful, most fail and go out of business.

They will explore or figure it out when they get there. As you mentioned about working in ph but also you tube vlogging when they see you and others making income they think ts easy to do and they can do it. As well as working online remotely. They also consider opening up with GF a small business such as ubiquitous sari sari store, restaurant or bar. Some succeed, most fail with losing all there money. Yet again a good vid with wise words from your hard won experience.

almost all fail, or the girl gets all of the money for the family,,,,The biggest budget is healthcare,,,,paying cash for emergencies is the number 1 problem for expats,,,,not having a nice size cash in the bank for emergencies

Gio, the guy from Canada can’t stay out of Canada for longer time period for 6 months or they will lose their government retirement. Check it out.

Not true. They would however, lose free healthcare after being out of the country for more than 6 months. (For most provinces). You can collect your CPP and OAS pensions anywhere in the world you want.

Giving up all my passions in the west is the biggest conundrum. Hunting, fishing, camping. A general outdoorsman. I could be happy if I found some good fishing in the Philippines

Well said! I miss the fishing and camping. I will be doing that on my trip back to the US next month.

Hi, Geo. I did meet a single woman on line about six month ago. She has never once asked me for a penny. I didn't hear from her for over week, and then she texted me. She said her cell phone was not working and she need to get a new cell phone. She never asked me for a dime to help get her a new phone. I will be visiting her in November.

Noooo the cell phone, mobile ruse is a trap. Also why would you spend the rest of your life raising someone elses unwanted child.
