Great video as usual. I'm really tempted to install one of these screens in my F10, but I have one question. My F10 has a HUD (head up display). Do you know if fitting one of these screens has any negative consequences for my HUD? Of course I don't expect CarPlay to work through the HUD, but maybe there are other problems?

don't expect for you to have any problems with that. HUD is run by the instrument cluster + the big media unit that is still in the vehicle

It is 4GB with DDR4 its faster than 8GB DDR3 ;)

Apple carplay or Android Auto will use GPS and GSM from phone. Because I don't run any app on the tablet that requires gps or gsm and I also don't want for the chinese or anyone that hacks the software to be able to tack my car or send commands to the CAN of the vehicle, I keep it without those two. TLC = tender love and care = brightness adjustment, settings in the factory menu, EQ calibration and so on

Can you answer something? I am seeing that some of these units need to have a connection to the AUX located in the armrest. Does the 14.9 have this issue? I know the 12.3's and such I think don't. Trying to find something that works as seamless as possible.

all CIC units need an AUX connection. NBT units don't need it. if you have a cic, you can trace that cable through the central console seamless ;)

I have a 62 plate F11 530d Touring. I got it two years ago, it has the wider 10.25 screen which isnt touch screen. Someone has added android auto and car play, which is ok, but i want to upgrade to larger like this and touch screen. My question, right now the screen shows aux like its using that for audio, but nothing is plugged into the aux socket in the centre console. Can you explain if i have the nbt or cic version? If i order this ali express versikn 14.9, will the android auto work like it is now without having to plug into the aux? Hope this makes sense.

if your car is 62 plate is is unlikely it has nbt. usually cic cars will require input in aux. without seeing the car I can't be sure of what is there and what your outcome will be. where are you based?

@@astuteventures for the UK i have noticed you can't buy the units from aliexpress anymore. this leaves amazon with this amzn.to/3B77M6j or amzn.to/3XApeJr Also keep in mind you will have to remove the other media box that was installed. more than likely you need to run also the audio in the AUX.

@@BestCarMods Morning, I've tried to research nbt or cic, the imagery I see online which says is nbt matches my screen when u looking at the org BMW menus to see multi media and vehicle information? Mines a 62 plate from September. How do you identify which version I have? Thanks 👍

@@astuteventures you are in the grey zone :) 2013 is when BMW done the facelift and vehicles should have NBT going forward. Will make a video to showcase how to determine which is which. there is not a simple answer. your car being end of 2012 there might be an overlap.

Hi Bogdan , I had installed a 10.5 android but sound quality via CarPlay is poor and distorted. If I connect OEM Bluetooth directly it’s is much better . Anyways to fix it ?

1. make sure the cable for the aux is connected properly. maybe test sound quality of the AUX port with an other device 2. there is the option of calibrating the EQ. of the tablet . try that if the sound is bad.

The AUX out of OEM was on the max , which created audio out distortion, reduced it to the 50 and now it is ok .
