Don’t waste your MONEY, check for recalls

In this particular case PCV valve causing back pressure and creates that sound, there is a recall for PCV replacement so before you bring to a shop check for recall, call BMW of North America or go to their website.

I didn't know there was a recall for this, took me a year to figure out the issue but it was the diaphragm on the valve cover. Replaced new valve cover problem fixed.

The PCV heater is replaced and not the PCV that is built into the valve cover. The replacement of the valve cover is the fix in your case. There is an aftermarket solution that requires you to cut open the diaphragm and replace it.

Replace the valve cover. Integrated pcv took a shit or an air leak.

If you have an N51 engine and are dealing with this you can get a free valve cover gasket replaced under warranty as long as the car is below 15 years old or 150,000 miles. I got the pcv valve replaced under recall and the valve cover replaced under warranty at the same time. Completely free. Just come prepared with the info and they won’t ask any questions lol

I had to replace the valve cover myself first they will charge you $300 just for diagnostic then they charge you $1000 for labor part not included the part will cost you like around $800 the original part keep in mind that they charge you per hour so I decided to do the job myself

The whistle is the oil filter . Mine did the same. Oil filter was blown out and restricted flow causing it to whistle or whine !

Funny, I just did an oil change on my friend car, and a few days later, came back whistling. I checked the oil cap as well, and observed excessive crankcase pressure. So, I sold the valve cover job. Knocking it out this week. Are you saying, pull the oil filter and inspect it? I can't remember what brand filter I installed, more than likely one of the 3 popular OE filter choices, not the factory one from bmw 😅

Basically the remedy is adding a harness with an inline fuse. This prevents the pcv heater valve from potentially melting and causing a short circuit and fire. Note that the recall is not for the pcv itself, but only for the heater valve

My car has exactly same sound (n52) and vacuum, i don’t know when it starts but, when i turn off engine before this sound and start fast, continues to work as usual. Can there be another reason besides the diaphragm? What I observed happens mainly on a warm engine

The recall is just a wiring repair, has nothing to do with the valve cover it’s self

It has nothing to do with valve cover, it is a recall for wiring but the dealer replaces pcv valve heater that is located under intake manifold

The pcv heater actually had two recalls(select models)..they recalled the recall..original was 19v-273..new was 22v-119..got the genuine part from bmw for $8, & did it while doing the whole system, bcuz bmw is incompetent.

I just left the dealer under this recall whole pcv system will be replaced including valve cover, as incompetence goes depends on tech if you get lucky you get a good tech working on it and everything will be fine

Oh well, back in 2020-21 they issued a service bulletin for mild hybrids in which they messed up steps of repair which caused in total 2400 48v batteries were fried by the dealer😂

@@zureai its the pressuring of the engine. You delete that you won't have any blowback like the video shows. Basically makes the car vent its pressure outside the engine instead of have pressure build up in it

No criteria, it is newish recall, was issued i think in the end of last year, basically pcv heater and/or wiring have been manufactured not up to specifications and must be replaced for free, bmw sends notifications to owners by mail

My warranty was out by like a month or two when mine went bad dealer wouldn't replace had to do it myself. Bought the april 2007 328i in April of 2021 then by may the PCV went out they give a 15 year or some mileage maybe ?150,000? And we crossed 15 years by a month.

On n52 that’s rare issue, look for pcv heater valve under intake manifold can cause. Other possibilities are pcv membrane on valve cover or whole valve cover replacement since pcv is built in
