What I’ve learned from Initial D is, 1. Handling and balance is number 1, mastered these then you can start talk about increasing power. 2. Practice makes perfect, skills/knowledge will makes you a powerful person. 3. If you notice, Ryousuke is basically Sun Tzu in 4th stage. He never pick a fight he can’t win, Project D racers always an unknown, he studied everything about the location and his upcoming opponents, he prepared/planned well, he won races with minimum efforts. Ryousuke is a super genius in Initial D. Also, this anime shows us that nothing is perfect, even a superstar like Ryousuke makes few mistakes.

I found out about Initial-D because I saw a glimpse of a clip of it on an early Up to Speed episode, and immediately said "WHAT WAS THAT", and looked it up. It's an obsession of mine now, I listen to eurobeat almost every time I get in the car. The first two seasons and the "season 3" movie are the best, the rest of the show wasn't nearly as good although it definitely had it's moments. For example, AE86 VS EK9 in season 4 was the best race imho, it just has a magic to it. The length was right, it didn't stretch into 4 episodes full of boring monologue, and the absolute banger of a song Forever Young was allowed to play out fully...when those headlights pop up and you hear "FOREVEEEER" it gives me goosebumps, and it was a perfect fit for the race.

Most of, if not all the characters and their cars are based on real street racers from the 80's and early 90's. As are the races/situations. Ryosuke for example is based on a seldom seen Akagi racer, Mr. Hoshino. Who drove a white FC, the cars are nearly identical with Mr.Hoshino even having a red decal over the rear fender.

Thanks to this D list my Fiancé and I have relived the manga in our closets and watched Legends (We had no idea they remade it with the FD brothers and the Initial Stages)....Thanks donut. We literally remembered a lot of our juvenile past. Whenever Takumi nails the C121 hairpin while racing Mako and Sayuki is my favorite moment of the series. I also love whenever Ryosuke sends Takumi flowers to officially challenge him to a race. I also love whenever Takumi sees Keisuke’s FD for the first time and talks about the giant wing. AND whenever Bunta pulls out a cigarette and lights it all while doing a drift with no hands!!! The Sudo Evo 3 is easily top 3 coolest car in the series. Honestly the way they hyped up the evo as this unstoppable machine impacted my childhood so much, and I had so many Evo posters because of Initial D. And the "Misfiring System" has to be the reason why at least 60% of people in the world want antilag on their cars.
