Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on KZbin and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!
I want "DON THE SMALL ENGINE DOCTOR" on KZbin to save you time, frustration and most importantly, MONEY with my HOW-TO videos!

I was not careful about throwing a log this morning and broke the hand guard on my Stihl 025 so I wanted to see what was involved in the replacement. And of course I always check your videos first. Great idea about the homemade tool. I would have used a screwdriver and spent a frustrating amount of time trying to get the spring on. Thanks Don!

Fantastic video. During a limbing job, the cut limb grabbed my saw when it fell. Thankfully I had undone the tether so I didn't get yanked, but after the 40 foot drop, the chain brake handle was cracked in half. This video just saved me down time and paying for a repair I can now do myself. Thanks very much!

I got to the part of the linkage and removing the handle. Thanks, this kept me from breaking something. Another trick to get the spring off is take a piece of stainless steel aviation tie wire and make a loop twisting the loose ends together tightly. Sort of like a tie on a loaf of bread. Take that open loop and hook one end on the spring. Now you can use a screwdriver shank at a right angle to the loop as a handle to pull on the other end of the loop. A friend showed me this trick years ago putting muffler springs on a Rotax.

Had to do precisely this job over the weekend to my MS461. It was the identical procedure. Thank you for posting this video. I was much more confident performing the hand guard swap as a result. I was successful reattaching the spring using just a flat head screwdriver and some deliberate patience. Cheers.

Very well done video. I have a MS261C so it was a little different. Since the MS261C has the additional handle chain stop safety mechanism, there is an additional steel cable attaching to the center assembly and no E-clip. But that made no difference to the disassembly and reassembly.

Thanks for the video I have a question, most of my plastic threads have gone when I try to lock a part using a screw the screw just keeps turning I suspect I have ripped the plastic screws using a battery drill. Do you know if their is anything I could use to replace the threads or would I have to buy parts to replace them due to the amount of vibration from the saw I think they will just come out
