It was the summer of 1971. We were dirt poor , hard headed , loud mouthed teenagers with a spirit of adventure. Terry Thompson, Juan (Poncho Grande) Fuentes, Jacky Ray Thompson, Dennis (the yellow duck) Dibble, Sandra Lou Bemis and myself, drove to Joplin Mo. to see our very first Live Concert! This song was one of there first hits and we all left feeling a little"funny" after the smoke filled experience....It was a bond that has lasted 50 years.

Oh wow the Doobie bros china grove, what a timeless hit. Takes me back to my childhood, camping on the coast in California just blaring all these timeless hits. Everybody gathering in the pavilion just dancing having a good time. They don't make music like this anymore, it does my heart good to see my nieces and nephews loving these timeless hits and keeping the music of the 50s, 60s, and 70s alive❤️❤️🌹

Visited R&R HOF years ago. Not sure exactly who does the voting or the crieteria involved but to have Madonna, Blondie, The Pretenders inducted years ago...... I guess its B.S..... I wonder if it as important for the bands to be enshrined as appose to the fans wanting their favorites inducted. Me thinks it's more for the fans.

I started out in bands back in the 60's when all of us played together and could do it live. I must admit, now that we all have the technology in our own personal computers to sound a bit band like on our own if we can play a few instruments I do it like that now. But it's nothing like having 4 or 5 comrades that can play up there doin' it together. This is from those magic days when groups created great music together, each giving it their best. Today's music will never compete with that. I count my blessings that my younger days were from that time. Sadly, we can never go back. These guys just rock like it's supposed to be. There are probably those that would disagree, but you just had to be there to know what I'm talkin' about. Fortunately there are a few groups left from that time that still carry on the tradition, but for how much longer can they do it? We are all getting on up in age. These guys are just amazing for how long they have lasted.

Those crunchy opening chords are still exciting to me all these years later.

@@jeffreyquinn3531 I'm 65 and saw the Doobies at the old Richfield Coliseum near Cleveland. I loved Tom Johnston. To me, this band fell apart when Michael McDonald joined them. It sure wasn't rock. Humble Pie was a super group The original band line-up had lead vocalist and guitarist Steve Marriott from Small Faces, vocalist and guitarist Peter Frampton from The Herd, former Spooky Tooth bassist Greg Ridley and, Jerry Shirley, from The Apostolic Intervention. Marriott was an incredible talent. For what it's worth neither one of these groups were in Led Zeppelin's class.

When I went to St. Bonaventure in the late 70s-early 80s, China Grove was played at the halftime of every basketball home game.

This was the original theme to the game show Don’t Forget the Lyrics, which originally aired on Fox from July 2007 until June 2009. The show was recently revived for Fox for a season in the summer of 2022 with a theme song and hosting change.
