Doorbell video captures teens jumping into action to save residents in Livonia fire

Livonia officials are applauding the heroic actions of three teens who helped save two people during a house fire on Monday.

Young men using their phones to call for help and rescuing those in need (instead of recording and waiting for someone else to act). These men cannot be praised enough and are real heroes.

These young men (and I use the word ‘men’ intentionally) literally did out their lives in jeopardy for total strangers. We had a fire like that in our house and we got out very quickly, but still we had to bend over so we would not breathe in the thick smoke that was quickly moving down from the ceiling. To that woman who lived there, PLEASE do not EVER consider staying to get your stuff. You have no idea how quickly that life threatening smoke gets to the point where it can harm you or kill you. Plus you put that young man’s life in jeopardy. I’m so very glad that he insisted that she leave. You saw how much smoke poured out when they finally exited the front door, which was crazy. The young men literally saved their lives.

I'm so glad to see that the teenagers are safe. They are definitely heroes for risking Their lives to save those inside the home and they probably die know them.Simply caring and kind thoughtful teenagers. I wish them the very best. That film that I first watched seemed like more than a couple of minutes before fire trucks arrived! It just goes to show that the first line of defense is yourself and those around you. Thank God the owners didn't think the teen boys were trying to break in. God bless those boys for taking action... The postman and neighbor that came out of the other house didn't seem to be doing much.

The postman saw that the young men were handling things, and he probably also called 911. He is not supposed to be far from the mail truck, anyway.

One of the things that I appreciate here is that none of these teens pulled out their phones and stood there recording the whole thing. At least I don't think they did. It seems their thoughts were just on getting the people out, and there just happened to be a camera across the street. They seem pretty down to earth and like they know this is just what everyone should do. Good on them. Now I wonder if any of them will decide to be a fire fighter.
