That has happened to me twice. Doordash app is flawed. UberEATS gives the customer a pin and if they want their food they have to give it to the driver or else no food. I hate people like that. They deserve to lose their jobs in return.

This is a real issue with all delivery apps. My suggestion is to send a photo via text message before confirming delivery, from the app Timestamp which prints the address and time on the picture and send the photo as a deterrent for the possible free food scammers. They can still say you took the food with you however I found that this does scare off a few as my incidents of this occurring dropped significantly

Sounds about right. I’ve never done Doordash, but I’ve heard about that from friends that have worked for Doordash, where they just take the customers word for it immediately and punish the driver. I used to sell on Amazon and it was the same issue. Scammers would buy my products (sold a lot of RC toys), pretty much their kids would destroy it way past the return policy, and the parents would call Amazon to complain my product came like that and Amazon would immediately refund their money. It was just a side hustle and to maximize my profits, I personally did all the shipping and handling, so I knew for sure all of my products went out in brand new condition.

@Celena Chandler the video is wrong about calls but also it’s not true about never sending links to click. On March 23rd I got a call mid order about how the person doing the order used a stolen credit card. The call came from a known DoorDash support number. To prove I am not working with the credit card thief I had to reset my account using a link. The link came from a DoorDash number that had texted me before. It also had codes that the support person on the phone didn’t ask for. I reset all my stuff, confirmed identical, and now 3 weeks later I still get all my earnings plus a bonus pay for that week I got a call and link. I’ve also called back the number that called me to see and it brings me to normal DoorDash support.

I am absolutely brutal when they call.... Stuff that under normal circumstances would get you fire in under a second. However, I never finish the delivery instead I call support....the reason being is if you do finish the delivery, then they can rate you and that's when you get a bad rating as payback. The trick is to cancel after you arrive at the drop-off, never before... That way you get your full pay and get to keep the food.

This same scam was attempted on me doing postmates about 4 years ago. The person committing the scam is the one who actually orders the food. Somebody had ordered a $2 item from a restaurant which I thought was strange and then on the way there I got a text from what I thought was postmates saying I need to update my password for security reasons but there was a misspelling that gave it away. The guy called me then and I didn't fall for it. Postmates and doordash will NEVER ask for your password.

Never had them call us to cancel an order. Typically it’s understood that if we’re at a store, or headed to a store and the order is cancelled, it pops up on the screen telling us immediately. We’ve received a call or two from security, but I think I hit the security icon by mistake while driving back to the zone.

I used to dash. Did that for 2 years into the pandemic and I will tell you, scammers tried over 8 times the same scam. It’s something that is going on for a while. One time I had the scammer mad at me, he said he would make 16k a month doing this while I was making 4K. Mocking me.

The guy got scammed got advice from a more advanced driver but the more advanced driver was still giving him inaccurate information not only does doordash call their drivers but in certain situations they'll even ask why you're late why you haven't picked up an item or why there was items that were missing. As well if you had an incident that you've reported and it needed someone higher up you will definitely get called back

1. The scammers sound Indian, Doordash uses Indian callcenters so the driver definitely is convinced they are support. 2. People are called usually right after using the Doordash app. How do the scammers get access to Doordash numbers? Does Doordash even know how employee and customer data is being handled in their foreign call centres?

DoorDash uses Philly (Philippians) call center, never once talked to anybody in India. The scammer places an order on doordash like normal, a driver accepts and is dispatched. Now the "customer" has a text/call option in their app to get ahold of the driver. They use the "call" option and spoof doordash customer support number. Scam ensues. As always, the key here is them asking for username/password, wanting you to use their scam link to sign in(log inputs), etc etc etc. It should be painfully obvious it is a scam when any institution of any kind asks you for username/password ssn etc, but clearly it is not.

I've been driving for about 4 months now. Doordash does seem to support the workers pretty well. If you go to pick up an order and the customer cancels, they still pay you half the fare. But it is a foreign call center with Indian reps which are a little difficult to understand sometimes. A couple of times they even gave me $5 just for the trouble. However the tips are what makes them worthwhile so tip your drivers people. Especially if it's a long drive. No one wants to make $2 for picking up your Chipotle and then driving 5 miles to drop it off. Happened to me yesterday.

My wife and I quit our full time jobs back in 2020 to drive for doordash full time and make $1200 - $1500 a week🤷🏽‍♂️ sometimes we drive 5 days sometimes 6 days. $250 a day each driving 8 to 10 hours. $12,000 per month or sometimes $10,000 just be sure to keep track of mileage and expenses and pay your taxes.

I think the reason DD gave his money back was because it was probably an ex-employee that knew door dash vulnerabilities. They probably hope the dasher would not make a big deal about it since they gave him the money back

They gave the money back because they need their drivers to survive. Door dash makes a boat ton of money doing practically nothing. The drivers do all the work. There was no vulnerabilities here, just social engineering or “phishing”. all they are doing is tricking individuals into clicking a link to a website that is identical to the doordash login page, but when credentials are entered an error message pops up and the login credentials are sent to the criminals. From there they just login to the account using a variety of tools to spoof their location and connect another bank account to the doordash account and transfer all the money out. The only way to “fix” this is to teach people how the scam works.

I get this all the time with a crypto account I have. I constantly get texts of people pretending to be this and that and blah blah blah. I NEVER click on links EVER. They continued to message me for 15months and I never replied and then they started sending me tons of death threats and I still always ignored it. Eventually they all got tired and stopped trying to scam me 😂

WOW. I’m very surprised DoorDash actually compensated him that $1,090. However, I’m skeptical… Do they compensate every single driver that gets scammed? -Or did they only compensate this man AFTER a news team called them up to say they’re doing a story - and they decided to take the $1,090 hit rather than risk a PR nightmare...? That’s usually what it takes to get even a penny from any company. Can you guess why 99% of companies wouldn’t compensate an employee who got scammed by a 3rd party? This happened to me inside a restaurant in Sacramento California. The scammers called the restaurant themselves and canceled the orders.then the restaurant gave us a number for “doordash” then they gained access and cleaned out our accounts. There were a number of people there

Yup, had that happen to me too, it sounded legit because my order was canceled on the spot when the scammer called. Sent me a link, but luckily the link was blocked by my browser. didn't even bother to report as it takes like 15 minute to get ahold of support. It was a very fishy item to pick up too cuz it was just 1 cookie from MC D

DD does do it’s best to help both sides. I worked as a driver for 2 summers just stayin in the hills area and you get nice amounts in a day. 300-500$ and that was before the door dash wage changes I even got a check for the time I wasn’t paid after years of not delivering.
