I've almost always played the single player first, because I felt it let me get some introductory experience with the weapons and how they handle, and sometimes the story is interesting.

Bots are a forgotten old trope but they're the future for preserving multiplayer games, some older games with limited or no previous bot support are even getting it modded in.

Yeah but campaigns have unique scenarios like cut scenes and weapons that aren’t available in the multiplayer. Or sections where you get to run around being an overpowered person because you picked up some suit of armor and very strong weapon which you can’t do in multiplayer because of “balance”.

They have been trained by other games to ignore Singleplayer mode and just immidiately jump into Multiplayer. Bless the nice other players in SMPs who babysit the noobs. The only thing the campaigns really help you with in that situation is target practice and three absolutely rad final bosses. ...You know what, that last part's worth the time spent to get to them, so forget I said anything.

I would like to recommend Titanfall 2 for singleplayer campaign, for anyone reading this comment. Didn't play multiplayer much, but singleplayer was very fun in this one. I completed it on my brother's PS4 and actually bought it on recent steam sale just to replay again on PC
