Risotto's story is so tragic when you think about it. Risotto had to watch all of his friends die one by one until he was the last man standing. Filled with hatred and vengeance, he seeks out the man who wronged him and reaches the closest anyone has reached to defeating the invincible Boss. But he lost his composure when he was so close to tasting victory which led to his defeat and even though he was unable to avenge his dead comrades, he died fighting and never lost his pride. Risotto Nero is one of my favourite characters.

This fight shows a very important detail: The boss believes that his epitaph shows a perfect, unchangeable vision of the future, when Dopio literally proves that wrong. Epitaph simply showed that it was destiny that a foot would go flying, and through Dopio’s sheer will and determination, he changed fate to make sure it wasn’t his own. This crucial lesson about the nature of fate is just ignored by the boss, though.

God this fight is honestly top tier in jojos. The amount of mind games and plays that was throw in this battle between two antagonists, and the fact that Risotto WOULD HAVE WON! But the Boss/Doppio were smart enough to get Naranica to interfere... References this time! The ability Epitaph is named after their song Epitaph from the progressive rock band King Crimson as well. Epitaph's localized name Eulogy might be a reference to the Tool song of the same name. Risotto's Metallica is a homage to the thrash metal band of the same name. Metallica's stand cry is a possible reference to Metallica's album "Load" Memorable memes this time! Ep 27: "Brrring ring ring ring, moshi mosh?" I think I already mentioned it in the episode he was first introduced, but Risottos name is based on a dish called a risotto. Gordon Ramsay loves making his contestants make it in his hells kitchen show heh. Also the animation of Doppion using King Crimsons hands to pull the knife's out of him and around him then slamming the ground is just so mesmerising to watch each time :)

while i do think Golden Wind very commonly has bad writing, Deus Ex Machina and Plot Armour. i do not think this is an instance. this fight was all strategy and made complete sense. super well written. while, yes, Aerosmith interrupting IS a outside factor ending the fight, it was foreshadowed as early as the beginning of the fight, and only worked out thanks to factors both inside and outside of The Boss's control which make complete sense in-universe.

i don’t think the boss is that strong? he’s larger and more muscular than Doppio but Doppio seems intended to be a bit scrawny, plus he’s never shown to be as practically strong as Jonathan Joseph or Jotaro, who aside from the artstyle-induced beefcake all have physical feats to point towards. not only that but unlike them The Boss runs into Kira’s problem- he avoids confrontation and relies on sneak attacks, leaving him outmatched in the event of a fistfight.

like, jotaro explicitly has brawling experience from before he had his stand. joseph is basically a friggin ninja in his prime. jonathan could wrestle a bear with how much strength and adaptability he packs. the boss is a muscular-ish tall man who mostly hides in his room and lets Doppio or his stand do any heavy lifting of the violent variety. its no contest.

It works as a nice introduction to the characters, everyone gets the time to shine and the fights are fun but overly long. The second half is.. ehhhhh. Not only did they introduce us a way worse group of minor antagonists but most of the fights are lame (Clash and Talkinh Head, Oasis, the final fight and others..) and an ending that.. yeah, let's just not talk about that. These three episodes are peak JoJo tho. I absolutely love them.

yea, i think it's pretty clear that this episode is flawless. even i, the infamous (not really) Golden Wind Disliker can tell you that. also, "other Doppios" ya'll on that Isshiki Otsutsuki brainrot, ahaha. though, in some meta-commentary. i MUST disagree with your assertion that "all JoJo fights are bullshit, that's just how the show works." heck no, the early part 5 fights ARE bullshit. boat condom? ridiculous. shrink fight? ridiculous. there's a difference between a twist and an asspull, ya know? so no, i wouldn't say it's "just how the show works". JoJo is perhaps most well known for it's amazingly written fights and powers. it just so happens that part 5 has alot of the worst written fights in the series; atleast in my personal opinion. unlike Doppio vs Risotto, which is EXCELLENT, in my opinion further so.
