How Russ Spent $10 On Music and Made $1.5 Million
This is why I say if someone isn’t doing it themselves, don’t listen.
@russ is doing this every single day and has been.
He’s been independent with no fans.
Signed with major radio play.
And now independent with millions of fans.
And he’s saying right now the money is in music ownership.
Not touring.
Not merch.
Not sponsorships.
All of that is ancillary income.
Side dishes.
Side bitches.
Your main is music ownership.
That is the easiest and longest way to get paid, forever.
Market your music so you get paid.
Post daily.
Get on playlists.
Get your song in social media videos.
Go live and discuss your music.
Do what it is you need to do to get your music heard so your intellectual property can get you paid, forever.

This is inspiring. I always thought you had to tour in order to make money as an independent artist. I never thought I could do it because I don’t want to tour. I don’t think I could keep up with it lol or want to do it. I wouldn’t want to get my fans hopes up like that. But doing the music and putting it out there and chilling at home, I’m all for it.

Artist signed to labels make good money off of touring because they don’t have to spend to set up the tour. Imagine spending 2 million to make 3 million vs spending 0 to make 1 million. Each scenario has its bonuses. I personally feel like being independent is still the best route however because you’re in complete control of your destiny.

you don't pay anything for being booked , whether indie or not . you make money from touring when under a label but , that's because the label will finesse you in so many ways you won't see the money your music actually makes . but being indie , everything is on you , so setting up that tour for yourself , you'll actually see how much it costs . Russ says he spent 2 million to make 3 million from touring , under a label you could make a million from spending nothing , that's how it's different . but being booked , you're being paid to make an appearance and / or perform , you don't spend anything for that .

Please tell me how we can make all this money promoting our music when streaming service payouts are so so small….. 1,000,000 streams will make you like $3,000 …. That’s pocket change…..

This is too absolute. If youre a small artist playing small venues than touring isnt very profitable. The main main stream artists doing stadiums are making a kiling so to aay theres no money in touring isnt necessarily true. At some point you either love performing live or you dont. Artists that dont need ro tour keep touring for a reason. Im also not understanding the spent 10 dollars and made 1.5 million line. The very next breath it says spend 10 dollars then market properly. A very vague term. Literally 99 percent of indy artists are not even breaking even from streaming because the cost per acquisition is far greater thab the payout. Must all be in the strategy i suppose.

Touring gave you your fans bruh. That's how you're able to make $2.5M with just a couple songs.
