Onrust! Your bus needs a camera system. You should have a computer next to you while you are driving that has a rear camera, a camera of the electrical/water room, and side cameras on the bus so you can see how it all fits. It would not be expensive to make (less than $300 for a REAL nice easy to use system). Look into it! Your WiFi camera is not the way to go... there’s better ways! A system like that would provide so much more security in event of a fire, etc!

Many thanks for the video tours of more of the buses. Thanks also to you and to Peter for showing me around when we came to your ‘Treffen’ to see what is possible and to allow for some new ideas. I like your method of holding roof panels especially and have ordered LED lamps for the interior at your suggestion. Still looking for a supplier for the water hoses and fittings you showed. We are still not road-ready as we have spent 3-weeks touring France, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Germany and the BeneLux countries on our GoldWing trike with trailer. Camping was uncomfortable compared to the plan for next year, in our own ‘bus’. Hope to see you somewhere. Regards.

Question: How tall are the double deckers over all, I see on Charley's you are stepping up into it, you are then standing upright on lower level (with headroom to spare) and again standing upright (with almost no headroom) on 2nd level + what ever may be installed on the roof? Here in the US the legal height (without having a special permit) is 13' 6" (4.14 meters). Thanks.
@Onrust16 жыл бұрын
Good question. For almost all of Europe is 4 meters the limit (there are few countries where vehicles can be taller, but those can only operate within that country or region), so the non-UK double deckers are all 4 meters (13'1"). Most of them have - like mine - downstairs 1.85m and upstairs 1.65m. Charly's one is special, because it has a split level. Being built as a office-bus, one side (right) is downstairs higher, and one side is upstairs higher (left). The split is not in the middle. You can see it in the video in the part where he shows his American fridge; the fridge is on a step. That guestroom there is a step up too - that gives more headroom downstairs. See?

Obviously or not? I don't think anyone can go wrong owning and or living in one of these mobile palaces because what they cost in fuel and maintenance can be offset by the fact there is no rent/mortgage or any other relevant fees such as service charges or other inflated costs that Councils or Housing Associations are always trying to screw tenants and leaseholders with.. Plus not being static you don't have to worry too much about neighbours from hell. A huge plus when residing anywhere.

Wonderful video. maybe i am wrong but i hope that all buses (especially the truck with no windows 8:57 ) have a back up plan when it catches fire in the kitchen or gas leaking or so, it looks like most of the buses and the truck are all like a death trap in a way with most of the windows sealed .... espicially in the master bed way at the back!
@Onrust15 жыл бұрын
I can't say anything about the truck or the other buses, but I agree with you that there should be a way out. My bus has three large roof hatches and every room (up or downstairs) has one or more lifehammers for smashing in the windows in case of emergency. So there is always a way out... Oh and we've got a smoke detector.

Out of curiosity, why didn't you level out the isle and remove the raised section on either side to make it more open plan with the lower level being more like a school bus conversion? The isle and then raised seating sections either side seem super inconvenient and like a waste of potential space. I'm not asking to be an ass, I'm looking at buying a double decker next year and I'm wondering about leveling out that lower level as I am very tall.
@Onrust15 жыл бұрын
That's really easy - because those raised sections are there for a reason - they are filled with stuff. On the left side there are the air pressure tanks, the spare tyre, and behind that the Webasto heater, and on the right side is the diesel tank and the bus batteries. Although it is not completely impossible to relocate those, I decided not to go that route...
@thecameraguys53814 жыл бұрын
