I learned this technique when I did my IRATA 3 at Access Techniques (Danny rocks!). Since then, I’ve been teaching this method for my L2 and L3 classes. Thanks Access Techniques for the great videos and top notch training you provide!

So this can be used in place of a reeve in any scenario?

Hello there, I was wondering why most of the Rope access videos out there show screw gate carabiners instead of auto locking ones? I've asked several different training places, and no reply at all> There must be some reason why? Thank you, Jim

It's better to have in your lanyard and devices that u use constantly during the operation, because they're faster and safer(especially for those who forget to lock them like me 😅😅)..in a rigging for example there is no reason to have autolock carabiners...its a waste of money for something that's gonna be used in the beginning and at the end of the operation! Not that using autolock carabiners is wrong...its just expensive for no reason!

For me the main reason to favour screw gate over auto locking is due to detritus. A screw gate will last longer in dirty work environments as it has a simpler mechanism. Dust, dirt or grime can render the auto locking carabiners inoperable.
