I really love what Doug is doing. I run a franchise (tool truck) and our district sponsors a large race track. I'm actually 3 hrs from said track, so I don't personally benefit often from it, but it makes me happy to know that I'm helping keep a track open and I'm glad that they thrive. Once I get my S10 done, I'll be down there for some test and tunes no doubt. We really do need to support good American companies as much as we can, it's our future and they're the ones keeping things alive because they're just like you and I.

Tommy was so stoked and appreciative about that it made me think, maybe Doug could help him out with a deal on some TBM brakes. I only mention this cuz he's a good kid and safety wise it would be really cool if he had the best brakes available.

It’s not about talking about Pueblo. It’s simply about top influencers saying such things and others racers actually messaging me telling me they want to race here but are worried about what some influencers have said. Not many cities and towns can say they have a race track anymore. I give mad props to Doug, you, Garrett, Etc on what you have done to bring the racing community up. Stay on that path and don’t say things that have unintended consequences on that city, track or racers. Maybe have somebody from Pueblo on your podcast to tell their side and some of the impacts. That’s NOT to get on and say “oh eff that guy or this guy “ no it’s simply to have someone locally talk about that topic. Racing is simply a hobby for me so I have no intention of gaining clout from this post. Just being as logical as I can.

the honda today is twice as heavy with a ton of emissions regulation, it’s not really apples to apples
@ryurc30335 ай бұрын
@@dontyouworryaboutit_ you just stated the problem without realizing it. Government Regulations make it impossible to build a small, light , efficient car. It's not supposed to get any better mileage. It's why any tech designs(patents) that increase efficiency get immediately bought and shelved. 10s of 1000s of patents squirreled away by the government because they would have devastating impacts to current industries.

If it wasn't for Doug, I wouldn't have started watching cleetus when I did. I was just thinking the other day how if everything worked perfectly for a long time then eventually the company wouldn't be able to sale enough stuff to keep the business open. But I think major stuff like main bearings, rod bearings and piston rings should be the best they can be because that's alot of work to get to. But stuff like alternators, starters and fuses isn't too bad to get to so it wouldn't be a big deal. But Doug an his nova is one of the first things I watched on KZbin when I first really started getting interested in learning everything I can about racing vehicles.

On the off chance that you ever want to discuss emissions with someone in the industry, hit me up. I'm not the absolute expert in everything, but I've been a chemist/engineer in auto and heavy-duty emissions for over a decade. I've worked directly with DPF and DEF/SCR systems and have been to the SEMA facility in Michigan. I'm not involved with policy, just the actual equipment. I'm also a car guy with a modified Corvette, a RMRW participant, so I understand both sides.

Regarding the free market thing: it works fine in times of peace and when everyone else is running off the same economic system, but the second you bring in an adversarial entity running off a psuedo command economy like China does, you're almost forced to impose tariffs if you want to maintain any sort of domestic competition or production base. The Soviet Union fell because they were trying to keep up with the West's free market innovation while almost completely cut off from that market. So long as people keep outsourcing production to China, they maintain enough economic power to keep the same thing from happening to them. TL;DR, free market only works when everyone's playing by the same rules, the second someone starts to cheat things go to shit unless corrective actions are taken.

Most of the products that say "made in USA" or made in Canada....are made in China....and assembled in USA or Canada...or the packaging was made in USA or Canada...it's true unfortunately
@theatomproject0075 ай бұрын
Actually this is not true. "Made in USA" is specifically defined and enforced by the FTC to mean all or virtually all of a given item must be made in USA to be labeled as such. While one could take your comment as hyperbole meant to expose the corruption of the counterfeit goods industry (which is totally reasonable to argue) the reality is manufactured goods that DO place "Made in USA" on them are fall under the purview of the FTC and as such the FTC will go after counterfeits when they label items "Made in USA" when they are not. This is why Broader Performance mentions dong it in their series about counterfeit valvbodies by speedbasturds79. If they had labeled their valve bodies "Made in USA" and that label was also included in the counterfeits, the FTC could have gotten involved and fined the heck out of speedbasturds79 and possibly even Summit Racing. FTC is all over this in the home goods and apparel industry and they are nearly as aggressive as the EPA when it comes to handing out fines. Ask Williams Sonoma how things are going for them these days... FTC just busted them for nearly $4M for improperly labeling items as Made in USA when they didn't meet the standard defined by the FTC.
