@@rahul38474 It's funny to see that even Ferrari cheap out. Have you seen Ferrari Roma that Doug reviewed a few months ago? The interior is new and they put touchscreens everywhere. But the point is that these screens are laggy as a 2010 smartphone. Also, with no haptic feedback you don't even know if you really touched the "button". This is distracting during the drive and can be dangerous. I don't wanna sound like a boomer who hates screens, but if they are less precise than physical buttons, why use them? It looks cool only until you want to turn climate control on when driving.

1. You can open the rear seats from the trunk, there's a latch/rope like a subway train handle that you pull to open. 2. the 3 buttons for traction/track mode are there because the automatic version has a sport/ice mode. So they kept the center one empty in the manual version 3. The Subaru engineers knew exactly what they're doing not putting a turbo in it. Watch Engineering Explained's video on why the new BRZ doesn't need a turbo for its power:weight ratio (and why a turbo would kill this cars' sales). I've had my 2013 BRZ since the first year and it's hands down the best bang for the buck track car and perfect for twisties out the factory, and my daily driver. I've even car camped in it before!!! Some thoughts I have to add: Roof bubbles are not for taller drivers, they are for helmets used on track days ;) Also, every car I ever had (altough I didn’t have many) had the inside door handle work like this, maybe it’s a japanese thing. We also tried the rear seats in the old model with my friends once (all grown adults), and we could fit in, not comfortably, but this “you cannot fit anyone here” thing is way excessive, you just have to pull front seats forward a bit to give room to the ones in the back and not have all the available space just for yourself, and that’s that. In the old one 3 medium-tall adults can fit fine, though the rear passenger needs their shoes removed to squeeze feet under front seat (shoes must go in the trunk, or in a bag on the 4th seat). 6 foot is the limit for the rear head room touching the glass, and both passengers will have zero extra knee room. It's an incredible design to achieve so much with so little space. I hope those serious about vehicles have learned by now to go elsewhere for the actual facts from truly experienced drivers who understand and know how to fully use the many brilliant auto engineers' creations, combined with market-wide feedback using real world conditions.

So we just got our 2023 BRZ this weekend and finally have some seat time. I LOVE the look of the car and how it handles. Being new of course it feels like excellent build quality. With that, on the performance side I am a little underwhelmed with the Torque. Of course keeping the RPMs lower for break in, but this car has a long 1st gear and I can tell you are going to have to rev it to keep up with traffic. I couldn't imagine driving the 1st gen in town. The wife hates getting in and out of it to drive, which is a small negative. Car does feel a little cramped, but it's not terrible. I can see the point where people say buy this car for a track car. It does fine on the streets, but not sure you could live with it daily (if you are older like we are). Take the power issue with a grain of salt as this is coming from a Mustang guy that's used to higher HP/TQ cars, but I did have a 2018 Civic Si and that was a fun small car as well. Can't wait to get the engine broke in and see what it can really do. It handles corners wonderfully!

Thanks for sharing. I've had 5-speed Mustangs for 30 years (Mustang Sally here ;), but due to issues with Ford's service/warranty (dealerships have had no service appts. or rentals for 2 years and I have an extended warranty), I'm looking at other options which is a bit depressing. I would prefer to go new again, so the 2023 BRZ Limited would totally work out money-wise as I'm paying cash. I'm used to my uncomfortable V6, but it looks nicer inside and out IMO. I'm worried about the BRZ having less power, requiring 93 octane, and having no option for leather seats. I really wish the interior looked more like a Mustang's and then maybe I would just go for it. Enjoy your new ride!
@biffbastion301
@biffbastion301 Жыл бұрын
@@oceans.and.deserts If you are coming from a V6 Stang, you are going to notice some of that missing torque. Though the BRZ is going to make it up with being a lighter car. In today's world SUVs and some Sedans will try to run you over at stoplights. They see sporty car and think you are going to take off at every light. I do have to say again, taking curves in this car is phenomenal! The only other car I could compare the handling to is a Miata, BUT honestly I think the BRZ gives more driver confidence. For the price I would say its a good value in how crazy the market is. The boxer engine for sure is not the smoothest running engine and sounds terrible when it does its cold start cycle. LOL Once it gets up to temp though the engine sounds fine. We agree with you on the leather seats. Would have been better than the Suede, but the seats are not bad. I am worried about how long the seats will last from grabbing/rubbing them when getting in and out.The biggest issue is watching your foot when trying to get in and out of the car. You end up hitting the upper part of the door sill or the door itself. We put on the GR86 spoiler (black) on our white BRZ and it looks even better. :D

@TimurIskhodzhanov
@TimurIskhodzhanov 3 жыл бұрын
You've been tricked by Subaru/Toyota marketing people. If you look at a dyno graph of the 1st gen, you'll see it had almost as much torque around 3k as its peak torque. The low end torque was never the problem, the problem was always the deep "torque dip" in the middle. The new engine still has the dip, but it's not as deep, and its lowest point is still above peak torque of the first gen. Similarly, the peak torque of the 2nd gen in the ~3500 rpm zone isn't much higher than the torque plateau around 6k.

Interesting quirk about the digital gauge cluster: The right side is an oldschool backlit LCD display. As such, the display is limited to monochromatic output and predefined shapes for assigned areas. This means it doesn't really have the ability to change configuration. The center speedometer, and the left side of the cluster are backed by a single, modern, color (probably OLED) display panel, topped by the round metallic bezel shape with horizontal lines breaking it up into areas. If you look closely in the video, you can see the boundaries of this rectangular color screen behind the gauges. The interesting part, is that to create a consistent look across the gauges, Toyota/Subaru designed the left side gauges to match not only the shape of the LCD bars on the right, but also the monochrome color scheme. Even the center dial has this kind of appearance. Keep in mind, they could have made the left and center any combination of colors available--but it is mostly white, with a touch of red (and a tiny bit of green on the bottom left by the odometer) so that the LCD display doesn't look like a separate piece from the modern screen.

I love it. The increase in both peak and usable power is a big deal, and the styling is better too. They shaved a full second off the 0-60 time in the manual model. That's a lot. This car has been tested to do 0-60 in 5.8 to 6.0 seconds, and runs mid 14's in the 1/4 mile. That's decent for $30k, and a big upgrade over the outgoing model.

It’s surprising to me that Doug brings up the HP numbers of this car & the last generation’s so frequently. This is obviously not a straight line car, it’s intended to be driving through a nice twisty back road, at the track. With the low point of gravity and a 7k redline is such a fun car you can toss around & not worry about wrecking it or getting into dangerous illegal speeds too quickly. Power in this car is not an issue if you drive it for it’s intended purpose. I’ve never owned this car but I would love to have one.

Maybe someone already commented this but, 1. The rear seats are only unlockable from the trunk so that you can store personal belongings in there and set it to only unlock with the car keys. (Pressing the trunk button locks it so you can't unlock it with the lever on the driver side) 2. The increased headspace is for people with helmets on track day. It gives that extra room for them bulky helmets - but, yes it works for taller people as well haha!
